Booked as a last minute getaway, although after reading the recent reviews on route was really apprehensive. However, honestly can’t fault it. Room was lovely, staff were helpful and friendly and food was amazing! Definitely will be back :- thank you x
Ordered the steak pie..the pastry was rock hard although the meat was nice, the chips were very pale with lots of small scrappy ones..not once asked throughout if the food was OK..the wait was very long even though the place was virtually empty too.. The seabass was fine. Not what expected for the money. More than disappointed as we had wanted to go for ages. Sad to say I won't go back
Visited here for lunch on Monday. Was slightly put off initially by some previous reviews but so glad we went! Lovely setting, friendly & helpful staff. The food was gorgeous. Hope to go back very soon!Service: 5/5
It's lovely but expensive. I ordered a local dish Pan Haggerty and it wasn't anything like how my Northumbrian Nana used to make it. I was disappointed. My partner has fish and chips and was very happy with his. The staff made a bit of a deal over us not having a booking, it was 4pm the kitchen was open and it was more than half empty. We thought it was a bit extra and where we were given a table was a cold, sticky table by the door. Perhaps they had a lot of customers coming in at 5pm? We when we left the place was practically empty though. We've found other pubs a lot more welcoming round here.
Lovely resturant for a special occasion! Food is super tasty love the vegan fish and chips, gzoyas are amazing too and the service is always accommodating and polite. We recently visited and wanted to thank the kitchen/service team for a nice evening, our waitress, Lucy, was particularly great!!!Service: 5/5
Stayed in a cottage not in the actual pub. Cottage was nice but doors need looking at as none closed. Had evening meal at the Joiners Arms and I had the steak pie which was filled with tender steak . Staff lovely but it was very busy so you have to book.Service: 5/5
Stood at bar for what seemed like ages then had to ask for service ...wanted fish and chips twice for takeaway as advertised outside was quoted £41.90...I had to ask as the bar person I thought had said £14.90 they replied ...no madam £41.90...seriously what has happened in society when this is now considered normal pricing.. Me and my Partner work hard and earn OK but Couldn't sell my soul to the devil and pay this .
Visited at 1045 after seeing the sign outside saying "Tea and Coffee, Food All Day",hoping to grab a warm drink and a quick snack before heading to Newton By The Sea. Unfortunately, we were sent away after being told they don't open until 12 and service was only available to hotel guests! I'm not sure the meaning of "All day" is completely understood. A shame as it looked lovely inside and we have heard lots of good things about it!
Expensive!!! This place describes itself as Gastro Pub & 5* Luxury Inn, well you're certainly paying for it. Almost £12 for 2 pints and £18 each for fish and chips. Was it worth it - absolutely not. If they were charging sensible prices - £3.50 - £4.50 a pint and £12 - £14 for the fish and chips then yes it would be canny but not still not fantastic. The service is abysmal when you consider the price and the food and drink itself is just not worth it. If you're coming up from London for a weekend, you'll feel right at home bar staff ponsing about in aprons with berries and cocktail shakers but if you're expecting classic Northumberland hospitality then go to the Ship Inn just down the road. You won't be disappointed. On the plus side, they do have very nice soap and hand cream in the loos - use it, you're definitely paying for it!!
Excellent dog friendly venue . Menu varied and good value for money . Surroundings very cosy on a winters afternoon . Table servers polite and friendly . Only issue was cold coffee , and the use of plastic condiments. Parking is free , but a 5 minute walk away , so if you have mobility issues - best drop off at door .
