The room was a good size and clean. Windows single glazed so could hear all the traffic. Bathroom was clean and smartly presented however lacked somewhere to put own toiletries etc. Shower worked well. The TV was a great size in room and easy to watch. Good furnishings with added bonus of spare quilt if cold, wasn't needed as room nice temp, hairdryer, kettle and complimentary biscuits. Breakfast was good. Had Sunday dinner which was OK but pricey for the quality. Overall good stay and good position to access town, Alnwick Castle and gardens.
We managed to get in here at short notice and were pleasantly surprised. It's a busy place with a high turnover but service was good. Food was nice and a decent portion. Pictures shown: mixed meats Sunday dinner including chicken, pork belly, beef and lamb with Yorkshire puds, stuffing and mixed vegetables and fish & chips. Only very minor criticism was the weird small rectangular plates which were given with the sharing platter. Impractical to eat off, but that's not a massive problem!
Absolutely class. First visit to this pub from Derby and it was brilliant
Delicious Sunday lunch, we had lamb & chicken plus additional sides; pigs in blankets & cauliflower cheese. All delicious and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Staff were friendly & welcoming, lovely warm bar and bonus that they let the dog in too!
A hotel that wants to be more than it is. Small but clean room, looked fine at first glance but was a little tired. Only a small skylight with no blind meant it was bright come dawn, though the fact it was oppressively hot the whole night meant sleep was fitful at best. Late night access was through the fire escape at the rear, opening the door with a fob on the room key, but it didn't seem to lock properly sand could open the rear door without a fob - don't leave your room on the latch! Didn't have breakfast, or use the bar.
Struggled to find somewhere that was open for lunch while we were in Alnwick. Found this one and went inside on a whim - it was raining at the time! Very glad we did. The food was wonderful. Not the cheapest but Alnwick as a whole is a little above average cost-wise. It's definitely worth the money, though. Friendly staff, nice atmosphere. There was a cooking program on the TV which was a nice change to the usual pub-fare TV.
Room great if a little noisey. Had just been.refurbished and was very nice. Bit pricey for what it was , breakfast not included at 105 a night. Been to doxford hall the night before for 149 including breakfast - used pool, sauna and Jacuzzis there. Good location, free parking and staff very nice.
We went for the early bird dinner offer. Lovely food and amazing service. The young waiter was so attentive and "on it" a real credit to the hospitality industry.
Nice atmosphere and lovely service breakfast was very nice too and reasonably priced would recommend.
We Enjoyed an excellent Sirloin here, along with a fabulous Steak and Ale pie, with a warm and friendly service, would highly recommend
