Beautiful freshly cooked food making the most of local ingredients. We did have one issue with burnt fish on my main, but when I mentioned this to the waitress a new dish was cooked, the cost of it deducted and free drinks offered. So despite the small mishap, we still left happy as the replacement dish was delicious and the service very good. The pineapple turnover dessert was amazing, highly recommend it. Kid-friendliness: A kids menu is available with very generous portions of freshly prepared food.
Excellent place! Good portion, price is decent. Worth the money you paid for. We order the crab sandwich and it’s like 100% real crab meat! We also ordered oysters quite creamy, and The Jolly Fishboard! Will def come back again!
absolutely beautiful food and gorgeous setting. staff were fantastic and despite it being very busy the food came really quickly. beautiful setting, definitely in my top 10 of restaurants and will definitely be back.
Had an excellent lunch. Large portions and very tasty. The Timothy Taylor beer was excellent. Great views from the eating area.Recommended dishesFisherman's Platter
We took shelter here for a perfect lunch after a bracing gusty walk to the castle, and thank goodness we did. A stunning seaview table, after first choosing lovely hand pulled ales at the bar. A warm and friendly welcome throughout, especially from the front of house chap. We enjoyed stunning mussels with fresh bread to dip, then we shared the fish platter with chips on the side. A lovely selection...kipper pate, smoked salmon, herring, prawns in Marie rose, crab, and salmon mousse. Crusty bread and a great mixed salad. It was all delicious, fresh and beautifully serviced. All washed down with a cheeky Sauvinon Blanc! Clearly this place is loved and highly regarded by judging from the endless 5/5 reviews they have save for the reviewer before me...who clearly got out of bed on the wrong side and had not taken a bracing walk to the castle before his fish platter...and to realise actually, life is pretty good and nirvana doesn't exist.
The food was excellent.the staff were very attentive and the atmosphere was great.its the 2nd time we have been and loved every minute of it.would definitely recommend
Brilliant place for lunch. Portions were big and well worth the money. Food was fresh, good selection of drinks. Definitely will return.Food: 5/5
A really good menu with emphasis on sea food. Well thought out dishes and prompt and polite service This place gets very busy, I advise reserving a table as it fills up quickly. Minus one star for intrusive Muzak.
Lovely pub. We went for lunch and chose starters. The prawn cocktail was the nicest I have ever had. The staff were busy but really efficient and helpful. Dogs were very welcome. It was really busy but we managed to get a table inside rather than on the terrace. The kitchen closed for lunch orders at 3pm. We will definitely return as the seafood platter looked amazing and was really well priced. Well worth a visit.
Enjoyed a family meal here on a mid week evening. Restaurant opened at 5pm, and it was popular but never crowded. Very comfortable. The menu is good and varied and the food was well cooked and presented. The restaurant has lovely views over the east coast, and I'd recommend the place just for the setting alone. Service was faultless. Car parking on site is limited, but there is a public car park nearby.
