I would like to send out a special thanks to Jodey not sure of spelling the security guard at Trinity on 3/9/24. He went above and beyond for my parents during an outpatient appointment. The hospital is lucky to have you! The rest of the staff were friendly and helpful too.
Springfield Hospital is regarded as the least favorable medical facility in South London. The staff members I have encountered exhibit a lack of professionalism and fail to uphold their duty of care towards vulnerable patients, demonstrating poor communication skills. They are administering medication to my brother against his will, and it is evident that this is adversely affecting his health. My brother has been taken to the Accident & Emergency department three to four times, and during his most recent visit, the hospital neglected to inform family members about the swelling in his ankle. Harriet Wigglesworth, who identified herself as a consultant, attributed the swelling to my brother's mobility, which is an illogical assertion, as he is unable to maintain his balance. We were informed that he may potentially have a blood clot. This is concerning for a fit 31-year-old man who typically exercises five days a week and recently participated in a Father's Day race at his son's school. He is now unable to walk without falling due to the medication being imposed upon him. The doctors have acknowledged that he is being overdosed and have diagnosed him without engaging in a proper conversation to understand his situation, which is essential for an accurate diagnosis.
Dr Chawla poisoned my medication and was involved in removing the evidence from my room I won't be believed as they say I'm psychotic . When I die I want a full autopsy done privately . If I could give lotus unit a 0.i would . I have never seen uncaring unprofessional Staff in my.life . They don't care about there patient / clients All they care about is sitting in the office talking and eating . U did not even say which member of staff was working with who . People are just left to there own thing . My son-in-law sat there and selfharmed while they where in there office it's only when I.went to visit and pointed it out . That they took.notice . They don't listen to.anyone I think.they all need retraining . Cause to tell somone I am not listening to wen u are putting your concerns across . U are in the wrong job . When your patient telling u he gonna kill himself if u let them but u still don't listen.and are happy for them.to self discharge. Well u where warned if anything happens to this person lotus unit u are being held responsible .for your incompetence.. Your unit should be shut down . This is from.somone who has worked with mental.health and has treated them.with the respect they deserve . Adding.on to.this review ward 2 at springfield hospital is no better . My.son.in law is now on.there is constantly chased by anther patient. I have brought this up to be told she very ill . Well so is my son in law . So he having to hide from.somone . Staff unprofessional think this situation is a massive joke . All need retraining.
The care provided by this organisation is appalling. My daughter has been under their care several times oner the last 7 years. The first time I complained not only about her care but other patients, the lack of confidentiality when discussing a diagnosis with a patients daughter plus other things. The latest episode on Rose ward was just as bad. Medication given at the wrong times, when asked to speak to the manager oncall was told there was no manager on call. The patient toilets and shower area where dirty and floors wet. Bins overflowing. My daughter was discharged and several days later attempted suicide and is now a voluntary patient on the Lotus unit. When I took her in the male nurse I felt was rude. The unit looks dirty and miserable I had to leave as I was feeling annoyed. In all her stays at the hospital no councilling no psychotherapy no care really. DONT BRING YOUR RELATIVE IN THIS HOSPITAL UNLESS YOU WANT THEM TO DIE. I would have given less than one star if I was able.

I was moved to Jupiter Ward. Half the staff were kind and the other half were so unbothered. On my first night, a lady told me that she asked to be injected to calm down as there was NO WATER available. Water was only avaliable at meal times. There were 3 activities in the whole 2 weeks that I stayed there. It was very disorganised. One patient was constantly making racial slurs and shouting. The lack of activity or distraction was awful. There are cameras in all the common areas which I found creepy. No activities co-ordinator, no psychiatrist, no set times to see the Dr for ward round. However, as previously mentioned some staff were kind.
Staff are predatory when you're sectioned and encouraged bullying to vulnerable people who were really unwell causing them mess and problems they didn't want to bother with
Having had time to digest the whole experience , we all feel this place is absolutely horrendous. No improvement in mental health happened, wrong paperwork, false info on papers, terrible communications and staff support/nurses/doctors and a very specific vile psychologist are completely useless, under qualified and frankly exhibit behaviours they should themselves seek psychiatric treatment for. Any contact with anyone in that hospital actually increases stress and anxiety. If you care about a loved one, get them out by all means and seek alternative help elsewhere. I could go on but that place is by far the worst place anyone with mental health difficulties could end up in.
Springfield hospital is one of the worst places you could ever go. It's been this way for over a century I'm sure. Please just imagine a child who has been terribly abused by adults and who is understandably depressed because of it as the abuse is ongoing, goes to her gp for help but is immediately referred to CAMHS and instead of therapy for trauma, is instead put on waiting lists for years and years and given extremely strong medication, that stunts her emotional and physical growth and alters her perception, where she is then so spaced out at school, lacking concentration and unable to write properly due to being that doped up. If she does receive treatment she is lumped with decades older, severely mentally disturbed patients who are known for violent outbursts, when she herself is not known for that kind of behaviour, and is fact, greatly triggered by it! Then the abusers abuse the child more, due to the vulnerable and incoherent state she is in, so this girl, now a teen, acts out with self h a r m and dozens of s u i c i d e attempts, so now this teen is given even more medication and when it doesn't work, she's seen as the problem. She gets diagnosis after diagnosis, pamphlets to read, books to look up and is told she is a danger to herself and others and can be put on involuntary hold at any time. Meanwhile the treatment she was waiting years to have, has now been cancelled or is no longer suitable because the girl is now too old or more mentally worse than they thought, so now more waiting lists, stronger medication. No one who wants to hear her mention her abuse, because she's attention seeking, or needs to get over it. No empathy. Heartless keyworkers and social workers, and if they're nice, they leave because they can't stand working at Springfield. This child grows from a talented star student, to a ghost like zombie, pumped up with medication and every year a new diagnosis. Nothing she says is believed, be it good or bad, because all the psychiatrists see is mental patient, not a human. She is maltreated for decades by psychiatrists, social workers and nurses, drops out of college, due to how strong the medication is, doesn't make friends or allow herself to connect to others because occupational therapists tell her she's too damaged and should consider inpatient treatment, despite the fact she hadn't harmed anyone. Treated like a monster by every new doctor. Some doctors lie when she challenges their abusive ways and these doctors are readily believed because what is she? Just a mental patient. Pals is equally harmful. They cover everything up and invalidate and gaslight. Psychiatric nurses are overworked or simply don't care and the cycle of abuse continues. Meanwhile, has this child, now adult had any appropriate treatment while with Springfield? No. To top it off, after 20 years she is given a brand new diagnosis after 20 years of being given 10 or more incorrect ones and is told that all the medication she was on for those years, never would have worked for her in the first place, because her true diagnosis cannot be fixed with any of those pills. She wants to make a formal complaint and investigation, but guess what? They ignore her letters, because why? She's a mental patient. For the love of God, do not go to Springfield hospital under any circumstances. If you recovered here, bless you, but as you can see, the vast majority have had horrendous experiences here that have left them more mentally ill than when they first arrived. Please try samaritans, saneline, shout, the listening place, head space app ,dbt app or printouts, headstrong, napac, even if you have to call up samiritans every night for 10 to 20 mins to talk, please do. You are needed. You matter. Don't give up on yourself, even if society thinks you should and please, please don't go to this hospital, especially if you have the choice
