I arrived at A & E at 11:30 am and was checked in exactly at noon. Bloods, CT scan and a consultation were all done by 2:30 pm. Then I sat in the waiting room untill 8:00 pm waiting for a medic doctor. However, the doctor who finally called me was another clueless junior doctor who gave me a completely different diagnosis than the first junior doctor. She called for a medic and after 45 minutes a woman arrived and asked why I didn't have my 2 hour IV drip done instead of just sitting in the waiting room. The answer is that no one told me that I needed it! I arrived for my drip and pain relief at 9:04 pm. I was finally given paracetamol at 12:10 am and the drip started at 12:15 am. Seems that the medic with the five minute diagnosis clocked off at 9 pm without leaving any instructions for the staff. I am supposed to come back later this morning at 8 am for a lumbar puncture. I most certainly will not be returning to this shambolic establishment. I have zero trust in the staff and will be seeking an accurate diagnosis elsewhere. This was my first experience with St George's Hospital and definitely my last. My advice would be to look elsewhere for caring, accurate, professional and timely medical help.
Sure, here's a more detailed review: --- Amazing hospital. Everyone is super polite and thoughtful, making the entire experience stress-free. The staff go out of their way to ensure that all your needs are met. The waiting area is very clean and pleasant, providing a comfortable environment while you wait. The waiting time was only 30 minutes, which is impressive for such a busy clinic. Thank you, Dr. Oliver Mumby, for your exceptional care and attention to detail. Super rigorous and professional throughout the entire consultation. Highly recommend this hospital for anyone in need of top-notch medical care.
I booked an appointment over the phone for blood tests and arrived 20 minutes early. Upon arrival, I was told it was too early to check in. After waiting 20 minutes to try again, I found out that the check-in hadn’t worked. I then checked in with the unit, where I was reassured that all appointments were on time and I should be next. However, after waiting another 20 minutes, people who had arrived and checked in after me were called first. I understand it was late in the day and the staff may have been tired, but it doesn’t take much to be courteous. I had a long day too, and was just as exhausted. When it was finally my turn, the nurse who took my blood seemed quite rough. I’ve donated blood many times, but this was the most painful experience I’ve ever had. She didn’t find the vein right away and started poking around in my arm. When I told her it was really hurting, she just said, "Make a fist, it’ll go away." Honestly, I hope I never have to go back to that place again. Maybe it was just an unfortunate experience, but it left a lasting impression.
Neuro Department, a remarkable hospital. My visits have always provided succinct information presented by friendly medical staff.
I am extremely disappointed with the service I’ve received from both St. George’s Hospital and the NHS. My GP referred me to a specialist at the hospital on the 30th of May due to persistent high blood pressure, a serious condition that needs immediate attention. I was told I would have to wait two months for an appointment, which, given the urgency, was already frustrating. Now, after 5 months, I am still waiting for my appointment. I called the hospital multiple times, only to be told they couldn’t locate my NHS number or that some information was missing from my records. Each time, I was assured I would receive a letter confirming my appointment within two weeks, but that never happened. This has now happened four times, and every time, it’s the same story—apologies, excuses, and empty promises. Meanwhile, my blood pressure remains dangerously high, and I am left with no idea when I’ll finally be seen. I pay £2,580 every two years as part of my visa extension for access to NHS services, but what am I getting in return? Nothing but delays, poor communication, and negligence. The fact that I have had to wait 5 months with no resolution shows a complete lack of care or responsibility. I’ve even tried to make a formal complaint, but no one answers the phone. It’s incredibly frustrating to be treated with such disregard when my health is at serious risk. That’s ridiculous!
Absolutely terrible hospital that brings a bad name to the NHS. Been a patient and staff member and what goes on behind the scenes is ridiculous, lazy managers pretending to work and patients being given unnecessary appointments to meet quotas. Don't get me started on multiple staff committing fraud on the nhs at this hospital by faking stress leave whilst receiving full pay. If you take any tests here expect to be waiting months if not years for results and try asking updates and they will repeatedly blank you. The consultants also seem extremely depressed and unhappy. I recommend any other hospital but here it is a complete disaster for staff and patients health and wellbeing having been on both sides, I have heard multiple tales of unpleasant experiences here. Advice is AVOID!!!
After several visits to different departments in the hospital, I’ve been left really disappointed by the quality of care. It’s clear that some of the staff still have a lot to learn, but instead of owning up to their mistakes and improving, they just act like everything is fine. With my background in medicine and experience running a private practice, I can see that the issue stems from poor management allowing so many underqualified people to operate in critical roles. I genuinely feel bad for the patients who, without any medical knowledge, don’t even realize how poorly they’re being treated and can’t advocate for themselves.
I am compelled to express my heartfelt gratitude for the exceptional care provided by St George's Hospital, a place that holds a special significance in my life. My mother, a dialysis patient, has consistently received compassionate and dedicated care during her visits, and most recently, during a procedure to change her dialysis line. The medical team at St George's has not only demonstrated unparalleled professionalism but also a genuine commitment to the well-being of their patients. Their attention to detail and the personalised care they provide have been truly remarkable. Beyond the outstanding medical care, St George's Hospital holds sentimental value for me as it's not just a place of healing for my mother but also the very place where I came into this world 36 years ago. The continuity of excellent care across the years is a testament to the hospital's unwavering commitment to the community it serves. The expertise, kindness, and empathy exhibited by the staff have made a significant impact on our lives, instilling confidence and gratitude. St George's Hospital is not just a medical facility; it is a haven of support and healing for patients and their families. I extend my deepest thanks to the entire St George's team for their exceptional work. It is not just a hospital; it is a place where lives are touched, healed, and celebrated. With sincere appreciation
My 15 year old son has an EOS scan and MRI today and staff were very professional, welcoming and friendly at both St James Wing and the Neuroradiology departments. Excellent service and no waiting time -actually seen us earlier at the MRI do we didn't have to wait. Many thanks. Fab hospital. I had brain surgery here three years ago and again they were brilliant!
Always been seen on time- never ever had a delay for my appointment and every single professional I’ve seen treats me with patience and compassion. Had a pre op assessment today and the practitioner was so kind and respectful and put my mind at ease
