Busy. huge hospital. Most of the specialists from London work here. The hospital is spread across multiple buildings down both sides of the street. It dominates the area, infrastructure, of every kind, vehicles staff, police are everywhere inside and outside of the buildings. It's akin to a small village.
Fri 12th July '2024: It's been 12yrs since I last came to this hospital to visit someone, which was my Nan. #rip This is a great hospital, helpful staff and easy to get too!
Had a good A&E experience here after being brought by an ambulance. I was seen within 20 minutes of arriving and the doctors requested an MRI and blood tests which was done promptly. Very grateful to the staff. As others mentioned, this hospital has a major trauma unit.
Before I start, I have to say that several of the Nurses and Senior Ward Sisters were the most loveliest on earth, especially the Nurses on ICU, however I found that the Senior Surgeons were the most arrogant unfeeling people on this planet. My experience at this hospital was not good, but that is me speaking from personal experience. Had one Surgeon rummage in my stomach wound, and then walked away and left the curtains opened leaving me very exposed, violated and vulnerable. I’ve heard that this hospital may be one of the best however, what spoils it for me is the arrogance of the surgeons ones I dealt with, who have no empathy or bedside manner. When they explain the surgery process, they do not explain anything in Layman’s Terms. These people need people training.
I was very impressed with the high standard of care and efficiency and speed I received at King's College Hospital. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in March, had a few biopsies in March/April, and date for surgery in May. Then radiotherapy in July at Guy's. How quick was that! Amazing! All appointments were kept, including my pre-op assessment. Everything for me went very smoothly. I felt all the receptionists, nurses and doctors I had contact with were caring, friendly and comforting. Thank you very much!
Had my surgery there nearly two weeks. From the kitchen staff to the surgeons were all amazing. Big and clean hospital. Amazing staff on the Coptcoat ward. Loved it there
Not to be confused with Kings College university. The latter is a world famous first class institute of education. The hospital however is a decadent structure providing decadent services, where nurses are rude and they have attitude, where you get to see 8 different doctors in 3 days and everyone seems to forget to pass on information to each other, and where there’s no doctor to be seen at weekends. Now it makes sense on why elders move away from England!
I had a very hard 48 labour to then have an emergency c-section after getting an infection. From start to finish I received A+ treatment. I don’t think I would have got any better treatment if I had gone private. The staff were amazing and so friendly and couldn’t do any more for me. My baby and I were visited by each person that I came in contact with to check on us. It’s was so lovely and thoughtful. I will say I did see staff being abused and mistreated and still act professional. I would also like to say, sometimes the enemy you give is the energy you get. Being of mixed ethnicity and having done my research I thought I’d have an entirely different experience. I am so grateful and would recommend Kings.
When I had my stroke in November 2023 I was taken to Kings College Hospital. Most of staff were helpful but they weren't easily accessible for help. I didn't appreciate religious music being played by the nurse. This should be a private matter. I caught for the first time and second time in my life COVID and was put into an isolation room with filthy windows, dilapidated curtains right over a railway line. In my final move and there were about 4 or 5 moves the ward was freezing. I had to ask for extra blankets every time they changed the bed and had a radiator next to the bed . The window on the ward kept blowing open which was insufferable because you had to wait for a member of staff to turn up to try and close it. It could be up to an hour anyone turned up. The emergency bed bell wasn't answered if it hadn't fallen out of the wall connection which was very often. That was ignored too. Christmas Day was until lunchtime then cold, congealed food with wooden cutlery was quickly left for you. Some staff were super caring while others were there just to do the time and do the minimum.
I entered King's College Hospital 59 days ago, completely broken and devastated by addiction. The transformation I have experienced since then is nothing short of miraculous, and it is all thanks to the incredible care and unwavering support I received at this hospital. To the exceptional doctors and nurses, your expertise and compassion provided me with the foundation I needed to start my journey to recovery. To the dedicated psychology team, your insights and guidance helped me understand and overcome the mental barriers that had held me captive for so long. To the remarkable SLAM team, your specialized support was instrumental in my progress. And to the phenomenal drug addiction team, your relentless commitment and encouragement gave me the strength to fight every day. Today, I celebrate 60 days of sobriety—a milestone I once thought impossible. I owe this achievement to every single person who played a part in my recovery. Your collective efforts have given me a second chance at life, and for that, I am eternally grateful. A special and profound thank you goes to the A&E department. In my darkest hours, you were my beacon of hope. Your swift and decisive action saved my life and set me on the path to healing. Words cannot fully express the depth of my gratitude. From the bottom of my heart, thank you, thank you, thank you for helping me reclaim my life and turn it around. You have not only saved a life but also given it a renewed sense of purpose and hope. --- Thank you once again, King's College Hospital, for your extraordinary impact on my life. JOE MCDONAGH
