A perfect alternative to where we initially intended to eat nearby, would go out of my way to return here. Pub, and curry?! Perfect infusion. Decent cocktails, grub, and dessert. Very tidy pub, looks like it has been refurbished and well maintained. Prices were fine too, £160 for four with drinks, mains, two desserts.Food: 5/5
Been here so many times, recently on the occasion of Teej. Loved the food, loved the warm welcome and service all staffs provide. Hailing from North India I can say this is by far the best authentic Indian Restaurant North Indian Cuisine near Reading and in Hampshire area, all other non-authentic Indian restaurants simply dont match up to this one. They make most authentic north Indian cuisine, food is really good portion as well. Large outdoor seating, newly set up covered seating area for winter months. A soft play area for younger kids to be busy at. Best part is that the place proudly serves Non-Halal food, Hindu's dont often find this option in the UK.
Delicious mouth watering north Indian food starter/main course. Highly recommended. Ample car park. 12% discretionary service charge added to the bill. It would be good to leave it to customer to give as much tip as they would like to pass on, as already added service charge give false feeling to actual food bill.
There was only one choice for a breakfast option and we decided to order one each. Unfortunately neither one of us thought much of the meal. The guy took our order by memory and either forgot or didn’t hear that one of us ordered the breakfast. So he only brought one meal out. He didn’t even think to question the fact we had only one meal between us. But when we asked if another breakfast was coming out, he refused point blank to believe we both asked for one! The food was barely warm when it arrived and obviously one of us had nearly finished eating by the time the second meal arrived. The fried egg was hard with no runny yolk. The rest was very dry as we literally only had a spoonful of beans in a small bowl. The butter looked like it had just come from the fridge so was a solid block and therefore not easily spreadable on the toast. Prices weren’t too bad at £15 a head including a glass of juice and a hot drink each. But considering the meal was poor it was not £30 well spent! As we were leaving a group of people ordered lunches and when their meal arrived it did look and smell lovely. My advice would be to go for lunch/ dinner and order from the Indian menu. But stay away from the breakfast.
We hosted our sons birthday party here and it was great place in all aspects. Food was amazing and all the guests loved it. The party was initially planned to be outdoors and due to weather conditions we had to arrange it inside the restaurant and they were really accommodating last minute. We always order takeaways from Six bells and food is always authentic. Definitely recommended for medium40-60 sized party
Took a phone booking and could not find it. Did ask if I had booked under a different name. Then said you booked a table for 4 and only two of you. I did not bother to explain that we were meeting people. They just kept looking at each other. I said not to worry and walked out. They did offer to find us a table by the time we were at the door. The worst service I have ever received. We as a group have eaten in most Indian restaurants in reading.
Chicken cooked well but rice is from a microwave packet and spinach is from a can, will never go back for the £77.00 bill. I know the difference between fresh and microwave and tinned. I do not recommendFood: 1/5
The food was fine. A mediocre Indian. The staff however were extremely rude. When our order was incorrect and asked for the missing rice actually recieved a grunt and then 'Yes. On it's way." Most of the service was disgruntled Yes's and No's. Rather unpleasant. However, it was noticed that certain customers were greeted warmly, mainly other Indian customers, with smiles and laughter. They also try to add a 10% service charge for tips automatically. Would have tipped for the food and the kitchen staff, however the extra £12 tip they just added on was presumptuous and their service so bad, I declined to tip. Basically, if you are English expect poor service.
The food quality is getting worse with time. We just order chilly chicken and some other things and chilly chicken was very oily which left bad oil taste in your mouth which was tasting only off red dry chillies and oil. Tandoori roti’s were of mediocre quality.
The staff are amazing & friendly. The food is excellent. Had the lamb saag & couldn’t get enough of it! As is all the food I’ve had here. Will be back soon again!
