The Thirsty Bear Pub is a refurbished venue on the outskirts of central Reading at the end of Kings Road. This place has bags of character. Spread over 3 floors there is the main ground floor as you enter, up the stairs to the middle floor which serves as an individual venue if required then up again to the roof top terrace which is a lovely little space out in the open air. Chatting to the landlord there are plans to try a DJ in the near future possibly using the entire middle floor. With a lot of potential this could well be an up and coming venue in Reading. Definitely worth checking out. Recommended.
A lovely, friendly atmosphere with brilliant service. The starters were amazing...the best buffalo wings I've had. And the pizzas...there are no words. Come hungry and in your sweats!Food: 5/5
The food is incredible can't fault it at all, I had 2 slices of pizza and a side of fries which was more than enough to be a meal. The service was OK but not great as the waiter was a bit awkward with us. My only other negative is the price as its not cheap, however personally I think its worth the cost but I don't think most people would agree as it'd literally just slices of pizza and sides.
Absolutely disgusting! Ordered vegan pizza and they gave me pepperoni!!? came in for a slice of pizza but they didn’t have a vegan one, so the bartender told me they can make any of the pizza on the menu vegan since they have vegan cheese even though he has no idea what’s their difference between vegan and vegetarian. Then I ordered one and asked to make it vegan and when I received it I found a piece of pepperoni! Too bad I’ve been waiting for the restaurant to provide vegan options since they’re known for “New York style” pizza but was disappointed! Never coming back.
These pizzas are epic!!! Had a half and half giant pizza. I think it's a tad expensive at £25+ but you can't fault the taste of the pizza itself. Stacked with toppings too. I ate my whole half! Seating wasn't very comfy though, and the garlic mayo wasn't my thing I'd have preferred a light mayo or garlic and herb but they don't have many dip options. Definitely coming back for all you can eat night!
One of the best pizza places i've been. The owner and staff are very friendly and great company. Not only the food menu but also the drinks are well put together.
The pizza was outstanding and the chicken wings were on point great customer service and good value for money I will 100% be returning thanks everyone involved
Great restaurant with the opportunity to eat enormous quantities of pizza at a great price. Beer selection wasn't bad but they were out of stock of our first choices. Venue was Covid friendly with checking in being mandatory. Puddings were OK. Service was OK. Worth visiting and we would go back again.
I received table service for a pint on the first floor terrace. Nice to be out in the open air but not much of a view due to the high rise flats around. Outdoor heating a bonus although I didn't need it. Friendly staff and generally a cool place to socialize or reflect. Would recommend.
What a brilliant little spot! We were taken by some friends who are local to Reading and came away so impressed. The pizza was really tasty, well-cooked and with a good array of different flavours, and the appetizers were equally great. What's more, for two slices plus an appetizer each, it was only about £14 - a bargain! Add a couple of drinks each and it was a solid spot for a lunch under £30. I would stress to other diners that the pizza slices are BIG. Much bigger than you'd find at a standard pizza place, so those with a smaller appetite could probably make do with one. But brilliant nonetheless!
