"A beautifully restored 15th Century coaching inn, the Hind’s Head is one of the finest pubs and hotels in Aldermaston. With fresh food, real ales on tap and 15 beautiful bedrooms, the pub promises a great place to dine, drink and stay in the Berkshire countryside. The pub lies amid stunning scenery, near local attractions including Highclere Castle - the location of Downton Abbey. In our restaurant, you can look forward to fresh, seasonal, locally sourced ingredients in delightful dishes cooked to order by our talented team of chefs. We’ve a mouth-watering array of delicious daily specials too.We are also one of the best function venues near Newbury, our pub and hotel offers two great options for private parties or meetings."

Enjoyed our brief stay the room was comfortable and warm. Although there did seem to be the odd configuration that you couldn't have the bedside lamps on without the main light? All the staff were polite, although we did have to ask when breakfast was served and if we needed to book a table for dinner, rather than the information being given on arrival. No biggy though.
Sunday Lunch ! The Hind"s Head is an attractive building - Staff, when able to gain their attention, were pleasant and courteous - seating was comfortable - and the food, when it finally arrived, acceptable. Where this establishment fails is in its atrocious standard of service - the almost endless hanging about for food and drinks became intorrilable. We spent a total of four and a half hours waiting and consuming our lunch ! Never again !
The Hind's Head is a 17th Century coaching inn situated on Wasing Lane in Aldermaston. This is an example of a true English pub with a relaxing environment, friendly staff, and bags of character. The pub itself is spread out over a fairly big floor space with lots of little nooks and crannies. You can't help but feel relaxed. There are guest ales on tap to try alongside the normal suspects drinks wise. The food is good. We had the roast dinner on a Sunday and the beef was good. Now for the fun. We stayed overnight it was a weekend getaway after all and the room was very comfortable. There was even a spooky working trapdoor that seemed to serve no purpose other than to make us smile. The room really was very good, comfortable bed and pillows, lovely fresh sheets, en suite shower and toilet. I recommend room number 11 for sure. Situated about 20mins away from the busy centre of Reading this is a real treat if you want to get away for the weekend but not travel too far. Next door is Rosebourne Garden Centre which is worth a visit if you haven't been see my review on that for an idea. Jake was the main man on the day, checking us in, running the bar, organising the dinner top job - excellent service and great attention to detail. This is a dog friendly pub with doggy treats by the main entrance. Car park has plenty of parking space. Main entrance is from the car park so at the rear of the pub. There is wifi available. This is a thoroughly cracking country pub and I highly recommend it. We will be going back for sure.
Called into the pub at 3pm, kitchen closes at 3 but the chef stayed on and cooked us the very best fish and chips and burger from the main menu.. absolutely wonderful food, great service, lovely staff. Definitely planning a return tripService: 5/5
Unbelievably slow service. 30 mins for a couple of drinks off the bar... As I'm typing, I'm still waiting for a few glasses of water and a tea. There's one guy manning the pub and totally indifferent to a customer waiting at the counter. The other guy who took our order disappeared already. Unbelievable!!
Didn't get a room, but the venue is lovely. Staff were good, though we arrived before the breakfast time ended and they had already stopped serving...Rooms: 3/5
Had a lunchtime meal with drinks and all was good couldn't say about the rooms as we didn't stay the night.Service: 5/5
Great. Lovely room, super food. Helpful staff. Good value.Rooms: 5/5
Food was great but service wasn't on its standards. Will give it another go and check the standards of service if improved hopefully Thanks
Consistent good meals here especially when we bring clients after work here. Menu is fine but it could be a bit more modern with sweet potato fries, more salad options and halloumi fries.
