Just enjoyed a brilliant couple of days around celebrating our golden wedding anniversary with a buffet lunch for 30 in the function room. Our room was beautiful and everything felt brand new - couldn’t have been more comfortable - and same for all our guests. The whole style and atmosphere of the hotel was easy, friendly and efficient. The food was delicious and generous to a fault, and the location ideal - obviously warmth and sunshine helped too. Entirely satisfactory! Rooms: Really well appointed. Nearby activities: Whatever you need Walkability: Marina and sea and a lorra sand! Food & drinks: Good quality and value
Lovely hotel with very nice staff. We stayed 2 nights and nothing was too much trouble. It's a short walk to the beach where you can see the Gormley installation which is surreal. We didn't have dinner but the breakfast was exceptional. The best eggs Benedict I've ever had .
Great team of staff make feel very welcome from reception to breakfast. Lovely breakfast nothing was too much to ask and an amazing spread. Best poached eggs too. Room nice clean and comfortable just what I neededRooms: 5/5
Stayed here while visiting family in the Waterloo area and it was great for a short stay. This hotel is located close to the beach and many nice restaurants. There was many choices for breakfast and the quality was very good. We didn't dine here in the evening but the food looked good. The hotel is in an old historic building but it is nicely decorated and has lots of charm, although it doesn't have an elevator which could be an issue for some people. All the staff were very helpful and the service was fantastic!!
Great staff, breakfast, location, and general vibe. Very much enjoyed our stay, quiet and clean, and good value for money. It is perhaps in need of a bit of modernisation here and there. And of course there are only so many sea view rooms. Overall recommend and would happily stay at again.Rooms: 4/5
My wife and I have just come back from a 1 week’s stay at the Royal Hotel in Liverpool. We decided to stay at this hotel in part based on the really good reviews from other guests and visitors. Based on our experience, the reviews are absolutely on point. The double room we stayed at was quiet I specifically asked for a quiet room as I'm a light sleeper, even though it was on the first floor above the reception/main entrance. We had a decent view of the sea front even though we did not specifically book this type of room. The room was clean, the bed was very comfortable and tea/coffee facilities ample. We were pleasantly surprised that the TV included all the streaming options e.g. Netflix, Prime, Disney +. The hotel had everything we needed for a great stay. It has a restaurant and separate bar area serving high quality food and drink throughout. The breakfast options and quality were excellent, they have something for every taste from full English and vegan/vegetarian options to eggs benedict, kippers and smoked salmon with scrambled eggs. On top of this, as many pastries, fruit, tea/coffee, cereal, yoghurt, toast as you can handle. All the staff at the hotel were very warm and welcoming; special mention to our waitress Liz who served us so well at breakfast and had a very friendly conversational style. Another special mention to Greg and Erin on reception who assisted us greatly with any questions we had. Nothing was too much trouble. The hotel also benefits from free parking which is a real plus. There are no lift facilities however staff help with luggage if required. The hotel is perfectly located for travel into Liverpool City Centre as Waterloo train station is literally 5-10 min walk away, only 20 mins from there to the centre. If we ever return to Liverpool, the Royal Hotel is where we are staying. My wife and I recommend it to anyone.
I enjoy visiting this establishment & it was nice to experience last summer the new sitting outside area at the front, however this year on several occasions the furniture has not been put out for use & I get a variety of excuses from staff as to why not. There is an area at the side of the hotel but this overlooks a side road. I think I'll be visiting another place in future if the weather is nice & I want to sit outside.
Great staff, good location and extremely quiet. Best sleep I have ever had in a hotel. Loved it..Rooms: 3/5
Room was OK, the bar and communal areas are a bit tired. Decent place to lay down your head. The bed was extremely comfortable. My room had the most bizarre stairs down into the bathroom which would be totally unsuitable for kids or elderly people. Location is great, right near the beach.Rooms: 3/5
Well now, the hotel, staff and breakfast were all OK but the evening meal was dire. We started with prawns and smoked salmon just bland and plonked on a plate. My wife's main meal Tuscan salmon was pretty much inedible and gave her a 'gippy tummy'. My fish and chips was the worst I've ever had. Even the wine was awful. I don't understand why a perfectly acceptable hotel has such a poor food offering. I'd suggest it all came out of a packet, microwaved and served by unpersonable staff. Such a shame and bear in mind there's not really a much better alternative locally. On the other hand the breakfasts were OK and the lady serving was great. The room was OK but cold on two really hot days! should have requested a room at the front of the hotel that gets the sun. Overall it's in a good location for the beach, we visited to see Anthony Gormley's sculpture installation but all in all it's expensive for the offering. We stayed and ate at the Premier inn Liverpool North on Sunday and it was a far better experience and much better value for monet and only a ten minute drive from the beach.
