Sefton Park Hotel - A Hidden Gem by the Lake After a lovely walk around the beautiful lake, my family and I decided to pop into the Sefton Park Hotel, and what a fantastic decision that was! This little gem of a hotel, located right opposite the lake, is full of charm and history. We decided to stay for Sunday lunch, and I must say, it was the best Sunday Roast we've had all year. The food was simply fabulous, perfectly cooked, and bursting with flavor. Compliments to the chef, Cathy everything was just perfect! The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, especially Joan and Shaun, who went above and beyond to make us feel at home. They even gave us a tour of the hotel, sharing stories and showing us the incredible Beatles memorabilia. It was fascinating to learn that the hotel was once the home of Stuart Sutcliffe, the original bassist of The Beatles. My son, Aaron, was particularly captivated by all the history surrounding the place. Overall, our experience at Sefton Park Hotel was wonderful. The combination of delicious food, warm hospitality, and rich history makes it a must visit. We will definitely be back, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great meal in a lovely setting. Thank you for a memorable experience!
My Son and I stayed for 3 nights as part of an incredible trip to Liverpool. The hotel itself is lovely. Great history, clean, comfortable and fairly priced. The Garden Patio was a fantastic place to relax and enjoy a drink before/after heading out. It’s an east walk to the park and many fantastic places to eat and a simple push of a button away from a hired ride into town…or in our case Anfield. The breakfast was for us, included and was out of this world good. The best part of our stay was, by far the people. Each staff member we came across was friendly and helpful. Treated my son so well and were kind and patient with our obvious tourist inquiries. We were met with immediate attention, a smile and bit of banter. Only there 3 days….felt like we were coming home every time. Loved it. 100 percent will be back Charlie says thank you for the extra biscuits
Great location next to Sefton Park which is a big beautiful park the staff are all lovely the hotel is really nice and really clean you have everything you need all nearby pubs nice places to eat they have their own bar and restaurant. We have stayed there the last 4 years in a row and are going back in July and looking forward to it. It's also a Beatles theme with loads of pictures guitars and other memorabilia on the walls so great for any Beatles fans . Nearby activities: You can spend all day in the park it's lovely and massive and their are shops pubs an places to eat all within walking distance or 5 minutes drive into Liverpool town center. There is things to keep the kids entertained in the park to like obstacle course and swings and a lake and the palm house is well worth a visit. Safety: Nice area Walkability: Lovely walks in the park and walking distance to lark lane for food an drinks Food & drinks: Loads of places to eat and drink near by
Had a great meal for Mothers Day with the family. Food was incredible, service was even better. Julie was really lovely, gave great recommendations and nothing was too much trouble! The bruschetta starter was delicious, the salmon main and beef roast were even better, but the best part of dinner was the veg! From the carrots, parsnips and sliced swede, to the creamed cabbage and mashed carrots & turnip, everything was cooked to perfection and tasted amazing. Would definitely come back for Sunday lunch again. Didn't stay in the hotel so can't comment on the rooms.
Friendly staff we became friends with Julie and Mr. Fisher; smiling, helpfull people; good beer and coffee; very good atmosphere.Rooms: 4/5
Location was absolutely spot on. Service was a mix. Some staff very friendly especially Julie and Callum in the evening. Breakfast was better on our 2nd day but on the Thursday morning was very poor. Our toast was brought out uncut on plates there was little to no choice with cheese or ham for continental if you were under 12 there was a good selection of coco pops and the like. At least on the Friday morning there was a better service with toast in a toast rack and some decent ham was available. Our bedroom was so cold when we came back one day we had to ask reception to put the heating on. The room was reasonable except for a cheap plastic chair. The window dressing was huge and it was only on leaving and fully pulling the curtain back to check I hadn't left anything that I noticed a crack in the window. I reported it at reception. Instead of being thanked for the report the receptionist said well this had not been reported before. Well my dear there is always a first report. Given we are pensioners we are hardly likely to have a wild party however we were asked to pay a deposit which I am pleased to say has been returned. Would I stay there again I am afraid at my age I expect a better service so my answer is no unless they heed the review and let Julie and Callum train their other staff. Nearby activities: Make sure you walk around Sefton Park it's stunning. Also go to Speke Hall and do a tour after you can be picked up by minibus to visit John Lennon and Paul McCartney's houses. Eat out at any of the restaurants in Lark Lane you won't be disappointed.
Under no circumstances stay here. Room was disgusting with dirty water leaking from toilet pan. Wall paper hanging off wall. Smell was disgusting. Reception staff tell lies. The hotel owe me money and refuse to answer my calls.Rooms: 1/5
Enjoyed my stay, young tall lad on the nighshift was a laugh helped me with my bags and recommendeda good place for food lovely start of a trip.Rooms: 2/5
I am absolutely mortified at the way we was treated during our stay. Only good thing I can say is that it’s dog friendly. On arrival looked very nice on the outside however it’s very dated inside. We was given a room on the seconded floor there was 2 of us and our dog the room was dated but looked cosy as we settled in we noticed that our bathroom light wasn’t working and shower door didn’t close properly.. the walls were paper thin that it looked like there was light coming through from the other room from the bottom corner of the wall.. our entrance door had a big gap at the bottom so could hear everyone walking past, the floor boards creaked badly and the traffic noise was loud as no double glazing and lastly the mattress dipped down at the top end under the headboard. It was late when we checked in and we was delighted to find a place that was dog friendly that’s why we decided to stay and not try and find another alternative. We had booked for 2 nights and had said that we would see how we felt the next day and decide if we would stay on for the extra night. Throughout the night all we could hear was loud traffic, banging and people talking and then early hours we could hear what sounded like drunken people coming in from being out, which is to be expected as it was a weekend but literally we could hear every noise. We then heard someone knocking on a door when we checked it sounded like what we thought was someone wanting to get into there room next door. After a broken nights sleep a very unsettled dog we missed breakfast to get a sleep in as we was tired and decided to get ready and go out for a late breakfast. Just before mid day just before we was ready to go out for the day we heard someone banging on the door so loud and aggressive when we opened the door we was greeted but a rude abrupt man who then told us you’ve got 10 minutes to pack your stuff and to get out.. we was absolutely shocked and confused, when we asked him why??? He replied you know why and stormed off slamming the door in the hallway behind him. Being 2 women on our own we was left feeling intimidated. I was very anxious about going down to reception to find out what has happened to be greeted by the younger man who checked us in on arrival and another lady standing beside him. When I asked what was going on they said we was making noise all night slamming doors and we kept people awake and that the night warden had been called and he had to knock on our door a few times but we wouldn’t open the door. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing! When I was explaining that it clearly has been mistaken as we was kept awake by drunken people next door another lady who was in the kitchen behind reception decided to join in the conversation while eating her toast! saying the warden definitely said it was your room. Feeling upset and then having to deal with 3 people telling me we are the cause of the noise I was horrified at the way I was being treated and spoken to and having to deal with all 3 people at the same time. I was told they had to give a refund to one room I was shocked.. I said that we had paid for 2 nights..then to be told we could stay the second night but if the warden hears any noise then we will be asked to leave. If we was the cause of the problem then why would we be allowed to stay for the second night??? it really didn’t add up at all. We decided to pack our stuff and leave as we left we handed the key back to reception and said we are leaving, we’ve had no deposit back and been charged for the second night.. total cost was £186.12 for 2 nights plus £25 damage deposit and £10 a night for a dog. I’ve never been made to feel the way we have nor been told to leave a hotel before. I wouldn’t recommend staying here it’s just like an episode of fawlty towers! don’t waste your money unless you want to be entertained by the lack of professionalism. The positive is we’ve now discovered most of the travel lodges allow dogs.. so that’s where we will be staying in future.
Cant wait to come back. Fabulous hotel spotless clean very comfortable beds everything was amazing!!! Really cool memorabilia all over the walls for beatles fans. Staff are amazing thanks to Annie inparticular very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was really good. Enjoyed our stay immensely recommended to all our friends. Thanks guys see you soon.
