Generally a very good experience at this hostel. The facility was inviting and clean. The beds were well built specifically to accommodate adult people as opposed to the often seen repurposed children's bunk beds. The place was very well situated, quite close to Hyde park and the underground. I took off one star for service because they denied my accessibility request. I have to sleep on a bottom bunk as I physically can't climb onto a middle or top bunk. Upon booking months in advance I asked them to guarantee that I would have a bottom bunk. They said they would do their best but that they couldn't guarantee this accommodation. It ended up being fine because I made sure to get there early in the day and got the bed I needed, but I really didn't appreciate the stress of worrying about this for months leading up to the stay. The alternative would have been me begging strangers to switch bunks, or sleeping on the floor which I explained to them in several emails. Other hostels I've stayed at have readily accommodated this rather simple request so I'm not sure why I had to stress right up until the last moment at this place. As I say, it ended up being a non-issue and the hostel was excellent otherwise, but anybody travelling with more serious accessibility issues may wish to look elsewhere.
The staff were very kind, the room was small but still very clean and comfortable and the building felt safe. The location was perfect for exploring the city as there are bus stops and a train station within easy walking distance. Hyde park is just a couple minutes away as well as convenient places to eat nearby. If we return to London we would definitely stay here again. Safety: Staff does check to make sure guests have reservations and keycards before allowing people up the elevator. This made us feel very safe, especially with our toddler. Walkability: Super close to bus stops, the subway and train station. We had a very easy time getting to the hotel and around the city from the hotel using only public transportation and by walking. This was a very good location for us. Food & drinks: The bar was relaxed and quiet and we appreciated having a spot in the building to get snacks, water and drinks.
Beds are awful, I would literally rather sleep on a couch or a mat on the floor. Service was fine. Didn’t like that I had to pay over two pounds to rent a towel for what I was already paying for the hostel, other places with better prices and nicer rooms had it included as well as a free breakfast and not a paid one. Good location though
Ive stayed at this hostel many times before and I have no complaints. Staff are pleasant. The rooms are clean and convenient. And it's most importantly safe and super affordable. Rooms: Rooms are clean and quiet. Dormitory mates are usually mindful to everybody else. Safety: Perfect for solo travelers. Dormitories have lockers for personal belongings. Walkability: Within walking distance to transport links, restaurants and the high street.
Value for money. Me and my husband stayed at a private room and almost everything was perfect: clean and comfortable! The only change I would ask for is for the temperature to be higher in the rooms I got a bit cold. There was some disturbance from the room next door, but nothing after 12am. Definitely recommend it!
I think it was a nice stay. We lived a bit crowded. 6 men in a bunkbed room but it was fine. I enjoyed the included breakfasts' and the sockets in which you could plug in your USB-C. They could have frosted the windows perhaps. And the threshold in the shower was too low so when you showered the floor in the tiny bathroom was a bit flooded.
Excellent for a short cheap stay in a shared dorm. The room I stayed in did only have one accessible normal outlet, but all the beds were equipped with usb charging ports +a powerful reading light. So remember to check you have a charger that fits it! The rooms were very warm due to the weather, but the window was kept open and the fan in the room was on constantly so it was not that much of a problem. Safety: The dorm rooms have lockers without lock that you can use. I believe you can borrow, rent or pay for a lock for it at the front desk. Walkability: The nearest bus station is just down toward Hyde Park and to the left. The nearest shop is a 24 hour gas station with decent enough items. The nearest tube station is Queensway a short walk away. The nearest train station is Paddington station a bit of a longer walk away but not too far.
We stayed in London for 3 days and the Smart Hyde Park View was the perfect destination for two 20 year old girls who didn't want to spend too much on accommodation. I would definitely go back! Rooms: The room was small but very welcoming and clean. Noteworthy details: We walked a lot but if we wanted to take the metro it was just two minutes from the Hostel.
Great place to stay, good location, very easy accessible for sightsee or stay close to Paddington station. Stayed with kids, we had room 407. 6 bunk beds and private bathroom. Good facilities, local to small shops and restaurants, nice and quiet area. friendly team - special mention to Leo and Clement, breakfasts are basics but sufficient and reflect the price. Would recommend this place and definitely stay again! Rooms: Good room, be ready to get flexible when claiming top bed. Bathroom could do some with TLC. But the place was clean. Walkability: Walking distance to varios tube station. Bus stop only about 2 mins way to take you to Hyde park corner.
