The place was okay but have seen better days. The room looked nice but had no heating in late Sept and was 18 degrees inside which was pretty cold. Shower door wouldn't close, soap holder kept falling apart...and other minor issues like that. Price was decent in London, breakfast was okay but the variety was not great. Rooms: The room looked nice but had no heating in late Sept and was 18 degrees inside which was pretty cold. Shower door wouldn't close, soap holder kept falling apart...and other minor issues like that. Food & drinks: Breakfast was okay but the variety was not great. Generally had english breakfast type options.
From the pluses they serve a good breakfast, it's clean and they provide a fridge and a cooking room downstairs. And it has very good located with 2 metro lines just nearby. Of course I saw pictures online, but when you arrive and see these tiny rooms and toilettes for the first time, you get shocked. Then you get used to it. But still I don't feel like coming back. Though I think all hostels in London are like this. The bed was really small. I'm 185 cm long and I just barely fit in. I could only sleep on the side. Then it's also very narrow and short. To get in the bed I needed to sit down and then bend. I couldn't just sit down on my bed as I'd hit the bed above with my head. It was very uncomfortable. I booked a more expensive room and they sent me to the top floor throgh a very narrow staircase with pretty small steps. The room had so much unused space. The could put a small cupboard there or more hooks. But no. In the bathroom they had a movement sensor, which did not work if you showered. The light went off every 2 minutes. The bathroom didn't have windows, so it was very wet there. Rooms: Sehr klein. Die Betten sind kurz und schmal und niedrig. Nearby activities: Die Haltestelle des Big Bus ist in der Nähe Safety: Ich fühlte mich dort sicher. Alle waren freundlich. Walkability: Die central und circle metro lines are very close. A shopping street with basic stores and cafes is nearby Food & drinks: Es gibt Frühstück für 6,50£. Mit Müsli, normaler und Hafermilch, Joghurt, Kochschinken und Käse, Toastbrot und Toaster, Nutella, maple sirup, coffe and juice machine.
We wanted a cheap stay in London, near attractions and public transit, so this hostel seemed like the perfect option in spite of some bad reviews. We stayed a total of 3 nights between 2 different rooms and had a poor experience each night. The first room crammed 16 beds into a space with no ventilation at all, so it was stuffy and hot. The 8 bed room was better, but only slightly thanks to an air conditioning unit being there. The lockers were too small for our backpacks so we ended up sleeping with many of our belongings like toiletry bags, and the beds can hardly fit an adult - as an average size woman, I could not sit upright in my bottom bunk or lay completely flat to sleep. The toilets and showers are laid out in such an inconsistent and confusing way, with no rhyme or reason, and were all somewhat dirty. Not every floor has a shower and/or toilet despite what staff said, and there was no signage pointing to where one could be found. Staff were pleasant, but other guests were generally disrespectful, loud, and gross. The only saving grace is the price and location.
The facilities are not great, rooms are very small and are in need of some major updating. The bathrooms are so tiny you can barely move. Should be an option to not have cleaners in for rooms with a group booking. Staff are indifferent towards their guests. No water in the vending machine, only chocolate. The location is ideal. My bag was stolen from our private room, an absolute joke. When I brought up this issue the staff did not care Rooms: Very small, a lack of floor space. No air con. Safety: A staff member stole a bag so I'm going to say not very safe Walkability: Situated right by Bayswater tube station making it very easy to access Food & drinks: None offered at all, not allowed to bring food in either.
Best location you can imagine near Hyde Park. 1 min walk to Bayswater Underground Station. All kinds of shops and restaurants in the neighborhood. Clean and tidy room and common space. The sleeping space and the bathroom in the dormitory is a little bit narrow but surely you don’t expect luxury on £15 per night! So all in all very satisfying.
Inhumane conditions, the rooms are terrible and extremely small. The beds are like a cage and not suitable for people over 1.80. Just terrible. They also try to rip people off. The breakfast is just a pain.Rooms: 1/5
My experience with Smart Hyde Park was amazing. They were super accommodating and the location was absolutely amazing with a 15 minute walk right to the middle of Oxford st. Queensway station is not even 5 minutes walk away and takes you wherever you have to go. There is a pub right next door which sometimes distracts from a perfect night sleep but after 12:00 is silent so nothing that can’t be handled. The breakfast was adequate for a good price you could eat as much as you wanted. The bathrooms were a bit dated and needed refurbishing but it was nothing to deter me. I highly recommend Smart Hyde Park as an option for your budget friendly London stay Walkability: Within a 15-20 minute walk I was in the middle of Oxford st and within a 5 minute walk I was at Queensway station. It’s just across the road from picturesque Kensington gardens/ Hyde park and makes for a fabulous morning walk.
Don't go here!!! Rooms are smelly and way too hot even though an extremely loud AC is running all the time. Guests left their dirty clothes on the floor or dried them hanging them over the lockers. Bin was oherflowing. Toilet is even worse, extremely small, dirty and it's impossible to get ready in there which you can't really do in the room. People didn't flush the toilet, the shower was also dirty. Weird guests Overall, who were extremely loud and rude early in the morning 6am. Did not feel safe as a solo travellint woman at all!! Rooms: Small, stacked, dirty, smelly, too hot
The initial towel could be provided free of cost but I was charged for that too as if it was the additional towel I have requested for. The bed size could have been bigger for a tall person like me. I was not able to sit in the bed at all before getting it down from the bed. Proper POS machines accepting different cards and modes of payment should be accepted. During booking of the room I requested for a lower bed via the app due to the accident I met with but there was no response for that and I was given a bed in the higher place of the bunk bed.
I stayed here for an overnight on my trip to London. The hostel is a decent little cramp. At times in the morning we will face challenges on finding the rest room and bathroom as it has a limited number. If you have a budget constraints go for it.Rooms: 3/5
