If there were a negative star I’d put that! The rooms were filthy dirty. One bed had an uncovered duvet folded in half. The other bed had a duvet cover only folded in half. The bathroom was filthy. Only three hand towels were provided for two guests for three nights!!! The carpet was a trip hazard. There was no breakfast although that was included in the price. Don’t stay there. It’s not worth it
PLEASE DON'T STAY HERE!! Poor treatment of guests is a gross understatement of what we experienced. Scam, dishonest and fraudulent are more accurate. We tried to modify our reservation, and upon calling the front desk, we were instructed to email the reservations team. We emailed reservations on 5 consective days and received no response. We called the hotel front desk again and politely demanded help. Again, we were told to email reservations. We emailed 5 consecutive days again 10 in total with no response. Photos of rooms are not accurate. Look at guest ratings on their website...no ratings have been posted since 2020...makes me wonder why...? Please don't stay here.
This is a scam do not book. This was the worst hotel I have been in my life. Blood and bugs in the bed. After asking to change sheets they refused to do it. They gave only 1 towel for the room we asked for more they didn't give. Extremely rude staff. They will ask you a deposit and beware that you will never see the deposit ever again. We booked 6 nights we left after 1 night. They said they would refund. Never saw that money. It's a pure scam be real careful
OUR FAVOURITE SHABBY CHIC HOTEL! My wife and I stay here all the time because the terrible ratings mean the place is always empty and you can get a room in a great location at rock bottom prices. Is the owner using it to launder money? Why else would anybody leave a beautiful hotel, in a great locations, with Lefroy Brooks bathrooms and beautiful antiques, in such a state of neglect? Whatever the reason, we don’t care, because it’s cheap, really well located, and kind of stylish, despite the obvious neglect.
The hotel has absolutely no 4-star standard. We refused the first room because the floor had not been vacuumed, the bed linen was dirty and the blankets were crumpled up in the wardrobe. The shower drain was blocked by hair. The 2nd room was cleaner but the toilet flushing was not working reliable, so we got a water bucket as back-up. In the stair railing were missing several sprouds so children could fall through. The carpet on the stairs had holes and tripping hazards. The doorknob was missing on the inside of a fire door in the corridor. The breakfast on offer was so poor that we didn't eat there. Drinking glasses were dirty. In 5 days the room was not even cleaned, towels changed or the wastepaper basket emptied. The staff promised improvements but we have not seen any. Other guests who arrived at the same time as us left the hotel immediately. We will never again go to this hotel. Rooms: See description above Safety: See description above
Worst hotel I ever stayed at. Was not given a key for room. Staff said they would lock room if I was to go out. Unfortunately came back multiple times to find door unlocked. I complained they said they would get me another room after first night of stay but didn't have one available. Room was filthy all furnishings dirty and were ripped. Absolutely disgusting. Pls don't stay here as it is a scam and it's not 4 star as claimed. It is not even worth a 1 star. Please stay away from this hotel.
Upon our arrival at the hotel, we were informed by the receptionist rudely that the check-in time had not yet arrived. We kindly requested to leave our suitcase at the hotel until the check-in time. The room provided was of an adequate size. However, the decor and furnishings were outdated and in need of refurbishment. The chairs and sofa were visibly soiled, raising concerns about their cleanliness and potential for bedbugs. The curtains and rug were also in a state of disrepair. The water pressure in the bathroom was satisfactory, but the provision of toiletries was insufficient, with only a single small shampoo provided for two guests. Regarding the breakfast service, despite having paid for it, we encountered several issues. On the first day, we arrived to find that all the food had been consumed. On the second day, breakfast was not available, and we were advised to email the hotel to request a refund for the breakfast. However, despite sending three follow-up emails, we have not received any response. All in all, I never back again and never recommend it to anyone!
Possibly the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. Bed was not made on arrival, one towel for two people. Sinks blocked. Breakfast is disgusting. Meat and cheese left in hot room. Dirty plates. No staff there on desk when checking out. I will let the photos speak for themselves. Someone please save the poor fish from the dining room!
So I booked this hotel for my 4 day stay without reading the reviews first. Before my arrival I was truly dreading to go there and brought two towels with me so that I could put them on the bed. I was positively surprised though. Is it a 4 star hotel? Definitely not. But it is also not as bad as people in the reviews made it out to be. I was on the 2nd floor and the room was simply very, very old and the curtains were dirty BUT other than that it was fine for the cheap price I paid. I had to pay 50 pounds security deposit additionally, but I just saw that I got them back without any issues. The bed was clean, bathroom was fairly clean as well and I just made sure to always have my slippers on and used my own towels regardless. The location is amazing and I thought the staff was friendly as well. Wifi is also available and worked just fine. Overall I'd say it's more of a 2 star hotel, but definitely fine if you are staying for a few days only, and want to save some money.
Not sure how it rated 2 stars online, maybe for price point and location, but it ranks down there as one of the worse hotels I’ve stayed. Too many issues to state, but I left after the first night to stay elsewhere. The website photos must have a fantasy filter. Rooms: Rooms were old, dirty and very worn out. Holes in the carpet, furniture and walls. Mattress was bumpy, suspect recycles from one of those trampoline parks and some towels were stained, though washed. Bathroom worked and shower pressure good, but old hair hung off fitting, fixtures were damaged and ants crawled out of the drains. Still the WiFi worked ok and I had a nice view from an attic room. Strange checkin as insisted you cannot have a key and they would have someone accompany you each time?
