First off staff were really nice and very helpful. In a very expensive city to get your head down for the night, it was reasonably priced. Location was fine if you don't mind a 25 min walk to bars, restaurants, Edinburgh centre.nnOK that's the good bits out of the way.nnThis hotel is very dated. Needs pulled down, or the mother of all renovations. See room review.nnKind of reminded me of a tired old Eastern European, 1980s hotel I stayed in.nnWon't be back. Will swallow cost elsewhere. Pity.
We stayed for one night because we were on a coach trip for the tattoonThe room was clean and had a view over the back of the hotel, which was the river and that was nicenIt was very clean. The beds were clean and comfortable and also the room had a fridge which was usefulnHotel is very nice. The staff will lovely,nWe had seen not so good reviews about the hotel, but we had a good time. Sometimes its good to check things out for yourselfnThe food wasn't much to write home about. Itnwas okay, but nothing to complain about eithernIt was just outside Edinburgh so useful for getting into town. We enjoyed our stay. Thank you! x
This the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. It’s filthy and cold! I was here for two nights and I almost cut my stay short to book a room at another hotel but I couldn’t.nn-The heating is not great, I had to layer up to go to bed comfortably.n- the toilet doesn’t flush properlyn- the water that comes from the sink can’t be adjusted for temp, it gets scalding hot in less that a minute.n- the room smells badn- staff didn’t do housekeeping during my stay, I used the same towels and stuff the whole timen-WiFi isn’t freen-walls are thin, you can hear everything happening in the halls outsidennOverall, I felt dirty, cold, and miserable just being in the room. Would never return or recommend. Please bite the bullet and spend a little more when you plan your trip to Edinburgh. It’s a lovely city and I enjoyed my stay but the whole time I was dreading returning to my hotel.
The hotel was a good, economical place to stay, very close to Haymarket.nnService was good, most staff were very friendly. One in particular, Fatima really took care of us.nnEnjoyed our trip and the hotel helped a lot due to its proximity to transport.
Awful! By far, my worst experience in a hotel in my life. Staff: I arrived at 15:00 and the guy at the reception said you need to wait for a couple of minutes since your room is not ready. I don’t know why a room at 15:00 for a booking which is for the day before is not ready! Then he disappeared and left me there for 50 minutes. Finally I went to a lady saying this and she gave me the room.nRoom: it smells like wet old dungeon. All my cloths smell after this room now. I didn’t want to touch a thing since I thought they are dirty. The furniture was very old, some lamps didn’t work, the TV’s remote control wasn’t there, room didn’t have a phone, the bathroom had mould, the tea spoon was not washed properly, the mattress was old and uncomfortable, the window couldn’t be closed, the heating system was outdated. What can I say more??nnI am sorry for the owners, managers, and staff of this hotel. This hotel is a shame in Scotland.nnPlease, DO NOT go there and do not ruin the experience of such beautiful city with such awful hotel.
