I honestly can’t rate this hotel anything higher than 1 star. The entire experience was extremely disappointing and showed a complete lack of accountability from the front of house team.nnWe arrived expecting a smooth check-in, but due to issues with a booking agent, we were left waiting over four hours before we could access our room. Reception staff offered very little support, and we had to constantly chase for updates and push for solutions ourselves rather than being helped proactively.nnWhen we finally got into the room, it was freezing cold and completely unwelcoming. After everything that had already happened, we decided we no longer wanted to stay and chose to drive home instead. The response from reception was simply, “OK, I’ll check you out,” with no apology, concern, or attempt to resolve the situation. That summed up the level of customer service perfectly.nnIt’s such a shame because I’d heard this hotel used to be the place to stay years ago, but sadly it feels like standards have completely collapsed. The condition of the rooms, the poor service, and the lack of care from staff made this one the worst hotel experiences I’ve had.nnIronically, it’s advertised as one of the most haunted hotels in the UK — and after this experience, I can see why. Even on TikTok afterwards, videos about the hotel kept appearing on my feed without me even searching for it.nnI would strongly advise others to stay away.
Please do not waste your money here! Firstly we were given the smallest room after booking a twin room for myself and my friend, and the beds hadn’t been separated, when I separated the bed there was an electric socket hanging off and the window wouldn’t open and it was a hot day, I asked to moved rooms and was lied to by the guy on reception, and then again by the manager until I asked for a refund then they found a room after being told on several occasions they were fully booked!nnHad to move rooms past midnight now, and the lift wasn’t working so that was a pain, then a lady had a dog in the next room with her which had left dog mess all over the carpet and people walking in it! The lady and her dog were now being removed by security! I went to report to the reception who didn’t seem bothered at all.nnThe second day my friend had to unblock the toilet herself and it was overflowing, we went to report it and when I asked if we could have another room to shower in it was another no! No offer of help or clean towels, as these were now being used to stop the toilet overflowing! The reception said to me “what do you want me to do about it” when I asked for help!nAbout an hour later maintenance came to the rescue but advised this was a weekly routine for them as toilets are always blocking!nnBeen nearly 3 weeks now and trying to sort out my refund, only been offered £50 for a 2 nights stay after all the issues we had! The list goes on but haven’t got time to list them all here, I have chased Lucinda regarding my refund and had radio silence! Poor customer service from the hotel staff and now from customer service team! This place needs knocking down, please do you homework before booking, what with health and safety court case due to a young lady dying here recently! Shameful and not acceptable to be taking peoples hard earned money cash and putting peoples health at risk!
Looks nice as you walk in, shame the revolving door has gone.nStaff friendly and helpful. Long corridors and tails of ghosts add to a atmosphere.nRoom was old but clean and bathroom was updated.nOverall cheap but worth the money. Having stayed 3times now I’d recommend if you’re keeping a close eye on your finances.
So staying in this hotel is literally a bio hazard! There are lumps of mold in the room that give off spores that can lead to an early death. That is the first and most important point.nEverything in the bathroom is broken. From the toilet seat to the tap on the sink, to the very important handle that you hold onto when lowering yourself into the bath.nThrough booking.com we even ordered the breakfast, which worked out to about £13 each. Big mistake! We had 1 bite of the over cooked sausage and decided not to continue. It was horrible! We paid for 2 full meals English breakfasts and ended up eating cereal, with warm milk would you believe it! After complaining to the lady serving, she said “complain to booking.com”nAt this point we were in shock how a hotel like this could still be operational, let alone be supported by booking.com!nSo please don’t insult me by saying “we’re so sorry you had a disappointing stay” No, you should be shut down! You are literally a biohazard!nWe’ve been offered a £8.55 refund from booking.com. The whole system is obviously corrupt!nDONT STAY ITS NOT WORTH YOUR HEALTH!
Once grand hotel, now v faded. But the rooms were roomy, we asked for a quiet one and got one. Bathroom modernised. Pillows hard, and they could not provide softer ones. It has interesting interiors. Staff seek to be helpful.nnLocation excellent, v close to Lime St Station. Right on edge of city centre.nnBreakfast classic self service and the coffee was poor. Can buy outside. But after careful consideration we had breakfast in. We could have an easy and broad choice, so the next day I could reject the hash browns err..., but have sausages were good. And breakfast pricing was ok.nnWiFi ok. If you go out for the day, remember to reconnect in evening.nnI'd go back.
