Once grand hotel, now v faded. But the rooms were roomy, we asked for a quiet one and got one. Bathroom modernised. Pillows hard, and they could not provide softer ones. It has interesting interiors. Staff seek to be helpful.nnLocation excellent, v close to Lime St Station. Right on edge of city centre.nnBreakfast classic self service and the coffee was poor. Can buy outside. But after careful consideration we had breakfast in. We could have an easy and broad choice, so the next day I could reject the hash browns err..., but have sausages were good. And breakfast pricing was ok.nnWiFi ok. If you go out for the day, remember to reconnect in evening.nnI'd go back.
I honestly can’t rate this hotel anything higher than 1 star. The entire experience was extremely disappointing and showed a complete lack of accountability from the front of house team.nnWe arrived expecting a smooth check-in, but due to issues with a booking agent, we were left waiting over four hours before we could access our room. Reception staff offered very little support, and we had to constantly chase for updates and push for solutions ourselves rather than being helped proactively.nnWhen we finally got into the room, it was freezing cold and completely unwelcoming. After everything that had already happened, we decided we no longer wanted to stay and chose to drive home instead. The response from reception was simply, “OK, I’ll check you out,” with no apology, concern, or attempt to resolve the situation. That summed up the level of customer service perfectly.nnIt’s such a shame because I’d heard this hotel used to be the place to stay years ago, but sadly it feels like standards have completely collapsed. The condition of the rooms, the poor service, and the lack of care from staff made this one the worst hotel experiences I’ve had.nnIronically, it’s advertised as one of the most haunted hotels in the UK — and after this experience, I can see why. Even on TikTok afterwards, videos about the hotel kept appearing on my feed without me even searching for it.nnI would strongly advise others to stay away.
Hotel was fine. Room was clean and bathroom clearly renovated with a good spacious shower. Lots of terrible reviews online but I didn’t experience any problems myself.nn£2.65 a pint in the bar downstairs. Didn’t try the breakfast so can’t comment, but no faults from me
We mainly booked this hotel to investigate it's haunted history, but we're pleasantly surprised. The staff were great, especially the shift manager. The place was immaculate, in fact, the shower was the best shower I've ever had in a hotel room!nWe will definitely be back!
So, I believe this Hotel needs an honest and not superstitious review.nnThe vibe, is absolutely amazing. The Grand Lounge has these early 1900s vibes that just stopped in time and stayed as it was so long ago. Unfortunately, the service also stopped in time. The Hotel is very underfunded with a lot of maintenance jobs and fixes just left there. There were many water leaks from the roof in the corridors with dirty plastic containers underneath. The lifts don’t really work from floor 5 to the ground floor I stopped at every floor including floor 6… Furthermore, the hotel gives off this creepy and weird vibe when going around it at night, given that it’s a labyrinth with very little clear signage and dim lights.nnNow, my experience.nOur group arrived at around 00:30 and we were welcomed by a bunch of sloshed people hanging outside the stairs of the hotel. It took a long while to get the rooms actually sorted. At this point it was 1:30AM and we retreated to our rooms at this point I should say that we were coming from the south of England so it was a ~3 hour journey. Walking into the room, the light switches didn’t do anything, the bulbs were hanging by 2 tiny wires and I turned to the bathroom…nnSHOCK HORROR.nWe find a ladder above the toilet, which was splattered with paint and there were leaks coming from all directions I’ve attached pictures. This was enough to make us change rooms immediately, which took less time than expected. The room we found ourselves in was okay… there was only one functioning lamp and a light in the bathroom and the mattress was slightly lumpy. Overall, the sleep was mediocre at best, the pipes roared all through the night, a very funky scratching noise from the walls and people shouting in the corridors. However, all the rooms were very different to each other so some were spectacular. The breakfast is fine, the hash browns are amazing.nnOverall, I get why people say this hotel is haunted but you shouldn’t let it get to you. You can tell the staff are really trying and they are clearly understaffed. For a “cheap” hotel, YOU CAN FIND BETTER IN LIVERPOOL.
