Amazing Sunday lunch not a 5 star due to service but that was not a huge issue. I had a roast trio with all the trimmings which was amazing. My wife had pork belly and she was very very happy. The final photo is cheese cake mini my wife had for dessert. Note on the service: it was a young lad who was serving, clearly learning his trade but he got a bit overwhelmed but again not complaining just slightly affected the meal as we had to ask for tap water, extra gravy and the bill a few times before they turned up. We will definitely be back!!
Really great countryside pub, which aptly sits on the edge of No Man's Land and close to Heartwood Forest, so perfect at the end of a hearty walk through the luscious woodland surrounding it. It is really ample and spacious inside, bright and airy, and complemented by a large outside area some of it sheltered by glass panels for those who want to still be sitting outside even though the weather isn't exactly glorious. The only thing that personally I found less than perfect is the decor, which felt a bit too modern for such a quaint building in an historical village - it seems to be common these days to strip these establishments of their original rustic feel, which in my opinion is instead a great plus, adding a touch of warmth that the modern interior lacks. Good selection of international beers and excellent food menu at reasonable prices. The Sunday roasts are some of the best I've had: perfectly cooked meat, homemade Yorkshire pudding, and really generous trimmings and side veggies. Very satisfying portions. The cauliflower cheese was mouthwatering too.
Visited on a Friday night to celebrate a birthday. We had a lovely meal, everything from fish, veggie, burgers and steaks, all absolutely perfect. My rib eye steak was perfectly cooked and delicious. Chips were amazing too! All topped off with great service. We had a fabulous night!Food: 5/5
As ever, the team at The Wicked Lady were really friendly and the food, a Trio of roasts with stuffing/pigs in blankets followed by the mini crumble & coffee and the Buttermilk Chicken were also amazing pic for proof below! would happily rebook on my next visit down south.Recommended dishesApple Crumble, Sunday Lunch
The most amazing pork I've ever tasted in the roast dinner on Sunday! Such a lovely atmosphere and I was really impressed with how attentive my waiter was. Can't wait to come back!
Best Sunday Lunch ever. I have been here twice now for Sunday lunch and have enjoyed the meals both times. The meat portions are big, I had all 3 choices, and ordered all the extras. It even came with trimmings and bottomless gravey. The flavour of the meal was gorgeous and I highly recommend this pub.
Me and my partner arrived at the pub to get lunch and was told they was fully booked now i understand that but if you look in the pictures only four cars in the car park no one outside or in when we went in to inquire was told no tables available when clearly the whole place was empty. Defo won't be visiting again
The food was absolutely amazing and we sent our thanks to the chef. The meat was impeccable. The service was friendly and of good quality. The restaurant itself is very nice and in a great location, but the roast really was the best I'd had in a long time. Many thanks.
This place sadly disappoints time and again when it should be easy to delight. . For last night’s debacle, we were placed in the bar area in a cramped space where pulling out my chair meant I was touching the chair of the table behind. There were other tables available all evening. We wanted a bottle of house wine but it wasn’t available so we were offered Oyster Bay at the same price. A different waitress then came and told us we had to pay £6 extra for it. We then ordered food - all good. Post order, we were told they couldn’t provide Mac n’ cheese which both of our children ordered. When I asked why the chef couldn’t mix pasta and cheese, we were told it was ordered in and they didn’t have the stock. The mind boggles at the skills of the chef. The service was ok in parts but there were also faults here like asking to clear plates when two of us were clearly still eating and being forgotten after the main meals. As you can imagine, we didn’t tip which would have been more than the cost of the wine extra charge. Thoroughly disappointed for somewhere that could be lovely. Vegetarian options: Ok variety
A very disappointing experience from start to finish for a recent lunch. We had to chase having our drinks order taken and then a 20 minute wait for the drinks. The pub was not full. Apparently a fault with the tills was the reason. We both ordered the sweet potato Mossaman curry which was very poor. Like a watery casserole. The sweet potato was not cooked properly and thank goodness I ordered some chicken on the side to add some much needed bulk. It was rather like a cheap ready meal. We were told these were curries were always served like this giving the impression that it was indeed a glorified ready meal. We were offered a free dessert or 20% off the bill which is better than nothing. The bill was then incorrect. Having not visited this pub for several years, I won't be in a hurry to come back.
