Had a lovely time at this popular, very low-key pub. I last visited 30 years ago and I cannot see much has changed... Except the brand new toilets. Had a good, filling, lunch. The bill was very reasonable as well e.g. £9.95 for a big main course. Three of us shared basket of whitebait with buttered bread. Mum had deep fried seafood platter. She enjoyed it but it was a bit heavy she said. I ate excellent homemade beef lasagne: plenty of mince, fresh herbs and cheesy topping. Could not eat all the garlic bread, probably because we had overordered ! huge chips side order. Very friendly staff, quick service. Small negative: I prefer condiments served in bowls etc. Let's dispense with plastic throwaway sachets.
Lovely, enchanting old-world pub from approximately 1650 with a great selection of beers, ales, soft drinks and coffee. Fantastic friendly staff !
Lovely location and great character. A charming pub. The staff are so friendly and accomodating. Nothing too much trouble. As for the food - wonderful! Great full English breakfast superbly cooked and plenty of it. Went off for a dog walk afterwards in the nearby woods and couldn't resist going back to the pub for tea/coffee and home made Victoria Sponge at lunch time! Excellent. We'll be back for an evening meal or a Sunday lunch. Thank you to you all at The Cross Keys!
Superb pub and very clean over night stay rooms...{I stayed just for one night} But what I was amazed with the most was the breckfast..I still think of it now..one of the best I have had for some time...
Great home cooked menu and always a friendly welcome. Lovely beer garden. The quintessential Hertfordshire country pub!
Hi , I really enjoyed the food and I thought that the atmosphere was very good. The food took a few minutes to arrive but no issue. I loved the open fire that generated a cosy heat. The staff again were excellent. I great venue.
Fabulous pub!! Old and charming. Wonderful staff. Lots of choice on menu. Personally I would like to see a couple more fish dishes. However will certainly be visiting again very soon.
Nice food and a generous helping and efficient, friendly service. Moreover, the Cross Keys is well placed as a location from which to explore the very lovely local countryside.
Great country pub with a fabulous garden and dog friendly too
Lovely pub run very well by very friendly people. Great old building, garden and outdoor spaces. Really enjoyed our food after we arrived close to kitchen closing time on a cycle ride. Would recommend!
