The Waitrose & Partners store on Finchley Road has recently reopened its doors after a significant refurbishment, and the transformation is indeed impressive. For long-standing customers, the upgrade brings a refreshing yet familiar experience, combining the brand’s signature quality with a modernized, more efficient shopping environment.nnUpon entering the newly refurbished store, one is immediately struck by the brighter, more open feel of the space. The lighting has been significantly improved, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that feels both upscale and accessible. The layout has been reimagined to enhance the shopping flow, making it easier to navigate through the aisles. Wider walkways and a more logical arrangement of sections contribute to a smoother experience, especially during peak hours. I Wish they had redo the floor and take out the ancient floor titles, they don’t actually blend in well with the renewed theme.nnOne of the most noticeable improvements is in the presentation of products. The fresh produce section has been expanded and now showcases a broader selection of organic and locally sourced items, which are attractively displayed to emphasize their quality and freshness. The bakery, deli, and meat counters have also been given a facelift, with better visibility and access, allowing customers to view and choose products more easily.nnThe chilled and frozen food sections have been modernized with new refrigeration units, which not only improve energy efficiency but also ensure products are kept at optimal temperatures. Additionally, the wine and spirits section has been enhanced with a more curated selection, and the staff are readily available to offer expert advice.nnA significant aspect of the refurbishment is the integration of technology to streamline the shopping experience. The self-checkout area has been expanded and now features more machines, reducing wait times even during busy periods. For those who prefer a traditional checkout experience, the tills have been updated for faster service, and the staff remain as courteous and efficient as ever.nnThe store has also introduced a click-and-collect service with a dedicated area near the bakery in the back, making it convenient for customers who wish to order online and pick up their groceries but unfortunately they will have to navigate the entire store.nnIn line with Waitrose’s commitment to sustainability, the refurbished Finchley Road branch now includes more eco-friendly initiatives. These include the use of energy-efficient lighting and refrigeration, as well as an expanded range of sustainable and plastic-free products. The store has also retained its focus on community engagement, with noticeboards and information about local initiatives prominently displayed.nnThe reopening of Waitrose & Partners on Finchley Road marks a new chapter for this beloved local store. The refurbishment has successfully blended the classic Waitrose charm with modern amenities and a renewed focus on customer convenience. Whether you’re a regular shopper or visiting for the first time; like myself, the upgraded store offers a seamless and enjoyable shopping experience that truly reflects the quality and care associated with the Waitrose brand.
It’s ok… went expecting it to be super nice and modern, considering the upgrade and the news articles. Everything is still covered in plastic. Was hoping for more fresh counters, but just the same same as before. Still uncovered bread section. Don’t understand why the UK can’t have nice supermarkets, even the most basic ones in Europe are better. sigh.
This supermarket went from being the best in the area to being easily the worst. Shelves have been empty for at least 2 weeks now, no fresh produce, no dairy products… The food staff who are excellent are as frustrated as the customers, while the management doesn’t seem to be able to fix the issues. If you want to see empty shelves - look at the pictures attached, if you want to buy groceries - go to Sainsbury’s 200 yards down the road.
4th visit since revamp, not overly impressed, layout, stock levels, the 'big' difference that's been promoted, offers on app seldom represent my purchases or needs. Rant over, I'll keep trying as like Waitrose and have for years ;
Having grown up not too far from here, this branch of Waitrose was always where my parents brought me to shop. I absolutely loved it. But sadly, things have changed here so much recently, and having returned to England after several years living and working abroad, I no longer frequent this branch.nnMost of this is hardly the fault of Waitrose, the staff are as friendly and well informed as ever I asked the security guard about baking soda and he knew exactly where it was! but the fact that this branch is nestled in a very busy junction in London where lots of people from many different places pass through, means it is extremely busy most of the time. The sheer rudeness of other customers now means that on most occasions there is an incident here; either with trolleys or parking in the extremely tight car park below I got shouted at for waiting for another motorist who seemed to be taking her time to vacate a parking spot, or some other nonsense. I just find myself looking for other branches much further afield. It's just not worth the negativity anymore.nnThe branch in Brent Cross will do for quick supplies, but just doesn't have the same vibe to it. But there is a very nice branch all the way out just a stone's throw from Mill Hill East Tube, which has half the customers and is more relaxed with an open car park. If you like to take time and care over the items you buy, then that is the place.nnI hate to make it sound like I'm some OAP, but I'm not. I'm in my 40s. But as a total foodie, food shopping is something I enjoy and like to take my time over. It seems this branch in Finchley has become a victim of its own success. Shame.
