Chock, horror! I do pop in once in a while at this branch, but today, I was just horrified at what I saw: I passed by the snacks shelves where the 'Go ahead' bakes are a kept hoping to pick a pack. Just when I thought I found what I wanted, I tookva look at the box and realised it was full of mice droppings! This is so bad that it's beyond words. I know that the Camden Town Market area is ridden with mice and rats that feed from the abundance of litter left from the many make-shift restaurants in the market and the filth resulting from the overall neglect of the area when it comes to street cleaning and neighbourhood investment from the responsible council. Nevertheless, Sainsbury's should not be complacent with public health. The fact that they are in such close proximity to the market should be the more reason why preventing infestation should be at the forefront of how they operate their business. They are probably one of the top suppliers of food, including baby products and household goods, to the local community, and it is just disgraceful there is no excuse.
The food was fantastic, the staff were well mannered the owner Rogers was first class. He came round asking if we're alright and if we needed anything else, so sweet. We have arranged for another visit.
Sainsbury’s Camden isn’t a place I usually go for my monthly shopping, as I find it quite expensive—Sainsbury’s generally is. However, this store is an absolute lifesaver when you need something urgently or don’t have the time to go to larger supermarkets like Tesco or Asda.nnThe general shop floor staff here are incredibly helpful. If you can’t find something on the shelves, they’ll go out of their way to check at the back for you. They’re also generally very smiley and happy, which makes for a pleasant shopping experience. The store is always well-stocked and has great seasonal offers. Considering the cultural diversity in the area, I really appreciate the variety they provide.nnThis is a much-needed shop in such a centralised location, especially since most of the Sainsbury’s Locals nearby are very expensive, poorly stocked, and not particularly inviting. The staff at those locations are also a completely different story.nnMy only issue with this Camden store is the checkout staff, particularly those at the self-checkout area. They can be quite rude, giving abrupt responses and acting as though they own the space, ordering customers around in a rather unprofessional manner.nnOn the positive side, the store offers free parking and is easy to access, which is a big bonus.
While at the self checkout, I left some carrier bags beside me incase I needed extra ones so that I wouldn’t have to go all the way back to the pile at the front each time. I did not scan them as I was not sure I would need them yet. A customer assistant came up to me and began scanning ALL the bags without saying a word. I tried to explain that I wasn’t going to use them all but she didn’t listen and continued to scan them.nnOnce she was done adding a few more pounds to my total, she finally spoke and said how people always take them without paying and that she believes in karma “if it doesn’t come back to you, it will come back to your kids”. She then said that “hellfire is hot” which she repeated several times extremely loudly in the presence of all those at the other checkouts and in the queue. Bear in mind that this was during a very busy time so there were a lot of people around who this woman caught the attention of and were listening to it all. This was a very embarrassing and unnecessary incident which should not have occurred. I was just trying to do my weekly shop.nnI ended up not needing any of these extra bags and had to go to the customer service desk in order to get a refund. I told the customer service assistant there that the woman at the self checkout needs to get some proper training on customer service. She pretended not to hear me and didn’t respond.
Spacious layout , amazing selection of products . Like their fresh produce section . Good spice selection. Competitive prices overall. Getting the trolley requires a coin, and it's quite out of the way. Self checkouts are great if you have very few items, but not if your trolley is full. Wish to see more manned checkout counters in the future.
