Genuinely the worst experience I’ve had staying anywhere. We initially booked because of the location and price and ignorantly ignored the reviews but one glance at them tells you everything you need to know. The first few nights were fine the room is run down and small but manageable. After a few nights we found bed bugs and proceeded to switch rooms. When initially telling the receptionist about the problem there was no apology or apparent care about the issue. After switching rooms I then woke up covered in bites all over my body. We then told the receptionist about the problem again which had managed to now be an issue in both rooms we stayed in. She did not seem to care in the slightest, she acted as if we were inconveniencing her in the situation when I’m stood there covered in painfully itchy bites. She did not once say sorry or try and provide any compensation. We asked for a refund and even that had its own issues, we managed to get a refund for the future nights we booked but not the nights we stayed previously. She proceeded to imply it was our fault that we were in this situation as we switched rooms instead of leaving the hotel entirely which is absolutely outrageous. I’ve never experienced such awful customer service in my life. Do not stay here it’ll make your trip to london a nightmare. I’ve included the photos down below which don’t even show the severity and extent of the bites.
OK for a night but not longer. Would not stay again. The hotel is an older building, quite dilapidated with creaky floors. The room was very compact, and the double bed was not comfortable for two people, as we kept sliding to the middle. Manager/Staff was talking loudly about work schedules outside the room. Room service is provided every other day. On the positive side, the location is convenient, with restaurants and shops nearby, and Bayswater and Queensway tube stations within walking distance. Not good value for money.
I was staying at the hotel for a couple of days with a friend and we were very worried when we saw the remarks about bedbugs etcetera after we booked. But we didn't have to worry at all, we didn't see any insects and also don't have any bites. Maybe we got lucky but the entire hotel looked neat, clean and cozy with an old charme to it Only negative thing is that it is sort of hard to reach someone online, we wanted to ask something regarding check in due to our flight being delayed but noone picked up the phone we called 4 times nor replied to an email. But when we arrived it all worked out without any issue at all, the guy at the reception was very kind and helpful and we had a very comfortable stay : Rooms: Small but very cozy rooms, consist of a small bathroom, wardrobe, bed and a little desk with a kettle and some instant coffee and tea! Very sweet and definitely more than enough if you just book a hotel to have a place to sleep and relax in for a couple hours. It's being cleaned every second day and we were more than happy with it : Nearby activities: Close by are big stations and basically every tube line so you can get pretty much anywhere very fast. The area was very sweet with an old fashioned flair to it, especially at night it was very beautiful to just walk through and have a look at all the different little stores and houses. A Sainsbury's and tesco are also very close so one also has enough options to get food rather quickly Safety: 24/7 reception, someone was always there and the people were very kind. The area also felt safe to us, we didn't have any negative experiences and we were out and walking around the area at night twice during our stay. Walkability: Not more than a 15 minutes walk to big tube stations
AVOID THIS PLACE! I booked a room here for a night. The rooms are all marked as non-smoking yet the room I had stunk of cigarettes. They were fully booked so they could not give me another room. They refused to refund me even though they knew the room stunk. THEY ARE SCUMBAG STINGY MONEY GRABBERS. If you have any issues with your stay THEY WILL screw you over. I am having to go through my bank to refund for false advertising. I ended up getting the last train home at midnight after spending 2 hours on customer service with hotels.com dont think they will help, they just try to call the hotel on your behalf. Same thing. I couldnt stay for health reasons. PLEASE AVOID!
THIS IS THE WORST HOTEL I HAVE EVER BEEN TO! My one-person room was located in the stairway, with a door that has a window, so everybody can look into the room. If you wanted to access your clothes in the entry area after taking a shower and people walked by, they saw you naked. The room was also tiny and inconvenient; you could barely move around, let alone find a space for your luggage. There was long hair on the bed and in the bathroom all throughout my stay even after the sheets were changed, and I have a buzzcut, so it obviously wasn’t mine. The interior was run down. The bed felt even smaller than usual, and the box-spring mattress was saggy and uncomfortable. I also did not feel like me or my belongings were safe in the hotel, because guests were supposed to leave their keys at the reception when leaving the hotel. But at times, when the reception was unattended, you were supposed to just leave the key there. Technically, anyone could just take them and access your room in your absence. This is a major safety concern! I can not stress enough how much I can NOT recommend to book this hotel, especially the one-person room! But if you book a room anyways, take your keys with you at all times! That’s what I did, after informing the receptionist about my safety concerns, which he was very laisser-faire about, as if it wasn‘t a reasonable concern. He was also pretty rude and aggressive at times, when I addressed the issues, asked about information or requested assistance. Additionally, the maids apparently leave the windows open after cleaning the room, because when I got back to the hotel in the evening, the windows I always made sure to close before I leave, was opens. Another safety concern and very irresponsible from the maid! I get that she opened the window while she was inside, because it was hot, but it must be closed again as well, if it previously was. Overall this was just a very, very bad experience, with emphasis on it having been the one-bed room! On a positive note: the location is great! There are at least 3 underground stations in walking distance, including circle line and central line. There a many restaurants, cafés and convenient stores in the are, as well as the Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park in walking distance. The locations is definitely the best thing about the place. Rooms: Run-down and tiny single-room. Inconvenient and unwelcoming. Nearby activities: Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens, Portobello Market, Notting Hill, etc. Safety: Guests being asked to leave their keys at the reception, even when unattended. Room door with a window inside. Windows left open by maids. Very insecure! As a man, I didn’t feel insecure in the general area of the hotel tho. Walkability: Attractions, convenient stores, restaurants, public transport, etc. all I’m waking distance. Very convenient! Food & drinks: The hotel didn’t offer anything if that sort, but the surrounding are does. Noteworthy details: Don’t boom a one-bed room! Just don‘t!
DO NOT STAY HERE Please read this. If I could give this 0 stars I would. I don't normally write reviews, however I feel so compelled to warn people about this "hotel." I booked this last minute because of the location and did not get the chance to read reviews prior. Staff was rude and unhelpful. They were not accommodating whatsoever. The way they run is not standard procedure for a hotel. When they give you the key an actual key with a paper tag with tape around it, they said you must leave the key with them at reception when you leave the site. They give you a piece of paper with your name and room number to claim your key when you return. Since they absolutely did not allow for a slightly early check in, they let me leave my luggage in the luggage room to which they handed me the key to. I stored my bags in there along with others. Not secure at all. On multiple occasions, there was a man who did not seem to work there but was friends or related to them hanging out by reception. When I checked in, the male receptionist asked me if I was staying alone to which I hesitantly replied yes. He said my room number aloud, loud enough for the man to hear. One of time times I went to claim my key, he was there again. A different male receptionist did the same thing when I went to claim my room key. It made me feel very unsafe. Room was very dirty, floor obviously unswept. When I first walked into my room, the window was wide open. The second day I stayed there the elevator was broken, apparently. When I asked how do they suggest I bring down my luggage, the woman at reception said to use the stairs. She was not apologetic for the inconvenience. There were many other small things, but I'll leave it at that. The location is not worth the horrible experience.
Great hotel if you need a cheap but local property in London. While it was nearly impossible to get in touch with the hotel beforehand, the customerservice in person was amazing. Kind and welcoming staff and 24h service at the front desk as long as you're not trying to call. We also learned at the place that you can check in at any time through the night and not as the websites say only till midnight. Just as you can checkout at any time before 11pm. Besides our worry caused through reviews we got provided with a good room, just as promised. With lots of british charme and cute rooms The Wedgewood hotel offers more than enough, if you plan to spend your days in the city of London and rather stay in the hotel for sleeping purposes only. The rooms have small but clean onsuit-bathrooms, equipped with towels, soap and shampoo. You can get to several Underground- and bus-stations quickly and the calm and beautiful neighborhood of offers lots of possibilities to eat and shop for souvenirs. The Hyde Park and Paddington station are just around the corner about 10 minute walk each so you not only can enjoy nice walks in Londons biggest park but are well connected to the Stansted Airport and the heart of town. Great if you want to enjoy a few days in London without spending dimes on the property : Rooms: While other reviews often talked about bedbugs and so on, the room we got provided with, was neat, clean, and while being small, offered enough space to peacefully co-exist in mornings and evenings. Nice little tea and coffee offering on the small desk, enough blankets for everyone and small on-suit bathroom. The bed is rather small but comfortable and more than enough for a shorter trip. Walkability: Calm neighborhood with everything nearby you need, including grocery stores, small little cafes, underground- and bus-station in a walking distance from 3-15 minutes. You can make it to the heart of London in about 20 minutes and get to the hotel even in the middle of the night. Walking through Hyde Park you also make it to Piccadilly circus and surrounding in about 1 hour if you walk, but taking the tube gets you everywhere in London quickly
Good for the price and location but some rooms are directly next to where staff smoke and loudly talk at 7am so not great the day after a concert! The windows are thin enough for the smoke to get in and even after opening the curtains they just kept loudly talking which felt quite rude.Rooms: 3/5
I do not recommend this accommodation to anyone ever! I never write or give bad review but for this I just had to. We booked a room for 3 people with THREE beds, and they put us in a room with TWO beds; when we came to complain and ask for part of the money back, the man at the reception distanced himself from it and said that everything was full and that we should try to change the room in the morning and there is no refunding! Everything is outdated and does not give the impression of cleanliness. The towels we were given to use, had hair on them, so we didn't use them at all in the end. The top sheet covering the bed was burnt with a cigarette and as old as Egypt. In the night, we were woken up a couple of times by the fire alarm, as well as by some strange sound of electricity. Do not go to this 'hotel' ever!
If you would like to share your bed with bed bugs, you are welcome to the hotel. 1 and only night to sleep in the hotel on Monday 2nd September 2024, there was a large bed bug walking beside my Godson in room 4. Killed it and the fresh blood that came out of it demonstrated that it had just sucked someone on the white paper. Asked to move rooms, and found dead bed bugs under the sheets in the 2nd and 3rd rooms offered by Sofia, the receptionist. Got to the 4th room, room 406 and thought we were clear. Laid the children on the bed and a bed bug came out crawling. I have emailed the email address that is advertised at the reception desk and yet to get a response at the time of leaving this review on Thursday 5th September 2024. Rooms: Bed bugs infested
