Reviewing a hotel is obviously difficult. Requirements for each stay differs and guests will have different expectations depending on what they’re used to. I’ve been staying here regularly since Jan 2024 and for me it’s been perfect. Room sizes are small, but no worse than many many of the same townhouse style hotels in London. Pricing is always fair, of course it adjusts with demand, but this place is always on the lower end of the better rated hotels in London. Location is excellent, the area was already good but is really up and coming at the moment, it’s also very close to THREE major tube / underground lines. Having stayed here repeatedly, I’m always grateful for how clean everything is and the tea coffee and biscuits in the room. All the rooms I’ve stayed in have windows not as uncommon as you’d think in London!. The lift always works. The breakfast is better than adequate. Staff are always helpful. Sound insulation could be better, but again, you choose to stay in a town house hotel over a century old, what should you expect? I’ve never had a real problem with this. Honestly, if you’re in London for a few days, theatre or shopping or work, and just need somewhere very well located and clean and friendly with a bit of personality unlike the chain hotels, then I recommend it.
I stayed in early August as a solo woman traveller and I felt very safe in the Nottinghill neighbourhood, nearby Hyde Park and other attractions and many restaurants. It is easily accessible by metro and bus. There is always someone at reception and after 9 or 10 can't remember, you need to ring to be let in, which I liked for security reasons. The room for single people was simple but spacious enough. The view from the room was lovely as well! The hotel staff was always very friendly. I was sick one night and was eating my take out chicken soup in the lobby and the Emile from reception was especially nice and gave me hot water, and offered me fruits as well. I would definitely recommend! 10/10 Safety: Other hotels nearby, well lit streets, I felt safe walking around. There is always someone at reception and you need to ring after 9 or 10 pm at night to be let in, which I liked. Walkability: Very walkable neighbourhood, with Hyde Park nearby. Food & drinks: Tons of restaurants on surrounding streets
The hotel is affordable, is in a nice neighbourhood and is easy to reach via the underground. However a few points if criticism: the rooms are really small and could do with a renovation. The carpets are old, and gave my room a distinctive smell. The shower is fixed to the wall, which I personally find very unpractical. It took the shower too long to get warm. There is only 1 elevator, which is not the fastest. Overall good value for money, but could be better.
Small room, ideal window that opens. Radiator. Buffet style breakfast. Friendly staff. Great location for budget conscious travelers.Rooms: 5/5
Enjoyed the hotel very much. Staff was kind and helpful. They allowed us an early check in and stored our large luggage case while we went to Paris a few days. We stayed a couple more days when we came back. Would definitely stay again.Rooms: 4/5
Great location, steps away from the tube, lots of restaurants, and souvenir stores around. The rooms are really nice, everything in it seems to be brand new and in great condition. The only downside is the lack of AC in the rooms if it is quite warm outside. Breakfast is amazing, with lots of variety of fruits, breads, cereal, coffee, tea, juices, eggs, and greens!
The location is very convenient but room and bedding are not comfortable at all. Service is okay too. No complimentary water. Toiletries are of poor quality too.Rooms: 3/5
We had an amazing stay in the Phoenix for three nights in London. Brilliant location, close to the Tube and nice bars, restaurants, shops. The staff were so friendly and helpful. I would stay here again and recommend to a friend!Rooms: 5/5
Extremely courteous Team. Very comfortable rooms. Great showers. Great Bar. Excellent Breakfast. Very good value for money. Looking forward to my next visit.
The corridors and rooms are narrow and small. It gets the job done. Convenient location near the underground, with grocery stores and restaurants nearby. Noise reduction is horrible as you can hear the room door slamming everytime. Baggage storage is based on a honest system which would not work from where I came from, but I am glad it still does here in London. There is no air con in your room so it does get stuffy. There is a fan, but it doesn't do much in the heat.
