We've just returned from a long weekend away at the Railway Sleeper Lodge. We booked very easily back in June as location and price was perfectly ideal for our needs. Check in was very easy on arrival, car parking spaces are limited however we were already made aware of this via text message before check in and there are parking spaces less than 50 yards up the road. Which was no issue at all with luggage or a sleepy child. Our room was the family room with separate bathroom, on a whole the room was a good size for us, and the added touch of complimentary drinks in the fridge was lovely, my daughter enjoyed the orange juice! And the shower in bathroom was great! You might at times hear the noice of other guests coming and going but you get this in most hotels, including travelodges. So this did not disturb or bother our stay too much. We will definitely be returning in the future as cannot fault the place or accommodation at all. Thank you to the lovely hosts and we will see you on our return!
Booking my stay at The Railway Sleeper Lodge was a great choice and was able to get a room late in the evening which was great. The place itself was lovely, easily accessible and perfect for what I needed. Would definitely stay again.Rooms: 5/5
Brilliant little place, the owners have provided everything you could possibly need or want. Tea, coffee, an iron, hairdryer extra blankets, microwave, fridge its more like a home. Thank you would definitely recommend Rooms: 5/5
Rooms are very clean but not well though out as no where to hang colths no storage space if you are staying for more than one night. The has a microwave and small refegaraterRooms: 5/5
The booking and check-in process was clear and efficient. Good communication throughout. The room had everything I needed including a fridge, microwave, iron, hangers, towels, tea, coffee etc. Complimentary cold drinks in the fridge were a really nice touch. Parking included at rear of the property. Overall this was a decent room for a fair price.
I don't like to just write about bad bits as I own a business myself so I'm going to write good bits aswell. -The booking was pretty smoth and easy. -The room was clean and worth the money. -family room toilet was perfectly fine. -had a little struggle park my car as it was a really tight place for 4 cars. -around thr midnight, the heating sysytem stopped working it was on timer to save some money I guess and the temp dropped rapidly as it was freezing outside and the only reason we got this place was having a good night sleep but eventually we had to leave the place around 5 am just to sit in the car to warm ourselves up without having a min of sleep. So in the end I only recommend this place if you want to sleep during the day and stay up all night. There was a thermometer in the room which I'm going to attach a picture of it showing the temp at the time of leaving. Stay safe you all.
Great price, clean, comfortable and ideal location for main station. Super helpful host. Absolutely cannot fault. Great value for money. Comfortable beds and excellent shower. Would definitely book again when in the area.Rooms: 5/5
Good, clean place to stay. But the rooms are small. If you are ok with that then it's the perfect spot to use as a base. The bricklayers arms just down the road is a great, dog friendly pub for a meal or drink. And it's in staggering distance if the room! Overall well worth the stay here. Especially for the price!
Really cute little room in this self-service accomodation. Last minute choice for me. Suprisingly we equipped room with complimentary drinks in the fridge, also a microwave in addition to standard room equipment- iron, kettle, tv etc. As no staff on site, there were plenty of info displayed around the room and bathroom. On negative note- shower cubicle needs de-scaling or re- tiling or just deep clean to get rid of the grimy looking shower
I have thought long and hard about leaving this review but I feel frustration and concern about my stay at this hotel so I have had to leave a review that reflects my feelings. Both evenings I was disturbed by kids playing loud music, talking loudly and banging on the floor. On Friday evening it stopped around midnight. On Saturday evening the noise went on through the night. I phoned the hotel and someone told me it would be dealt with. Then a person came out of the room opposite mine and proceeded to tell them that it was the “person below” them that had complained, and then he repeated it! Bear in mind that I am a woman, staying alone with her dog that is scared of people! I was angered that this person thought this was OK, surely “people have complained” would suffice? The music stopped, but the talking, laughing, banging continued until about 5am. My Sunday was an 8 hour seminar followed by a 4-5 hour drive home so it was a bad day to start off with no sleep. I have raised my complaint with the hotel and I they have apologised and have refunded me 50% of the cost of my stay. I greatly appreciate this goodwill gesture but the response to my concerns has left me dissatisfied as I feel that I have been dismissed ‘we will have to agree to differ’ and I am worried that this situation could occur again during any future stay of a woman on her own, an elderly person etc Their view was that the noise makers were ‘just youngsters’ and ‘not a threat in any way’. In future I want to urge them to consider the fact that the perception of their guests may be different to theirs and that their business depends on whether guests feel comfortable. If the hotel insists on giving the information of who has complained, I think it is only fair, and it is essential that they inform the person complaining that they are going to do it and gain their consent. Unfortunately, I would not stay here again despite the lack of dog friendly accommodation in the area. The location I stayed had only 3 very tight parking spaces and the nearest on-road parking is about 50 yards away which is not idea when you have a lot of luggage.
