I was so impressed by everything about this hotel. No mean feat as I am fairly fussy. The minute we arrived it looked as good if not better than the photos online. Has been kept and maintained beautifully. Every single member of staff we met was warm, welcoming and very friendly. They really did go above and beyond. We had two dogs with us and they were made so welcome . Dog beds, food/ water bowls, a welcome letter and treat bag were waiting for them in our room. Really lovely touch. Without a doubt will return. Excellent hotel, credit to all the staff and management. Well done to you all.
Getting worse.nThis is potentially a fantastic venue, but having enjoyed successive years of Christmas meals, they are getting worse. It feels like everything is focused on the convenience of the staff / facility and not the paying customer. The food is very average.nSuch a shame.
Had an utterly scrumptious afternoon tea at Wivenhoe today, fresh soft bread, warm scones and lush carrot cake. Special thanks to Vusi for the tour of the hotel and for being so helpful when booking. Thanks to Megan for being a fabulous waitress and all the staff were just so friendly. Very attentive service and the food was really delicious. Definitely worth a visit - can thoroughly recommend.
An absolutely wonderful hotel, very charming and stately. We felt welcomed and respected by staff, special mention to reception staff and to the breakfast team. Room was beautiful, with lots of toiletries and drinking facilities. Bed was comfortable. As we were on the fourth floor the room was quite hot when we checked in, but the portable aircon and fan provided helped to keep us cool and almost cold! throughout the night. Breakfast was absolutely delicious with a small selection but of high quality, which we prefer. We'd love to be back!
We went to a wake here. The food was very good. Comfortable seating areas and location and staff all very pleasant.
