We can not recommend this place enough! My best friend and I stayed here for the London Marathon and we had the best accommodation out of everyone we traveled with! The hosts, Lisa and Tony, are absolute gems. They are the sweetest and both are super responsive and attentive. We were able to check in early, leave luggage with them after check out, and we never had any issues whatsoever with regards to communication. We had room #5 with the private bathroom and the room was so cute and clean! The bathroom was really nice as well. There is a separate, shared kitchen/dining room that is also well maintained. It was everything we needed at a reasonable price. The location is great - being close to the 77/87 bus and Clapham Junction made it possible to get pretty much anywhere we wanted in and around downtown London in less than 45 minutes. Plus, the general location is so nice with restaurants, shopping, bars, and The Grand. There was never a moment either of us didn't feel safe. I plan on staying here again if I come back to London. We wouldn't change a thing and you won't regret staying here!
Lovely quiet oasis in London, rooms very reasonably priced. Room 6 was perfect for me as a solo traveller having everything I needed. Comfortable bed, hot shower & quiet. Always a friendly greeting from family who own & run this guest house. Easy walk to everything- trains, buses, restaurants, supermarkets, laundrette close by. Kitchen is fabulous to have. Highly recommend.
Lovely place to stay in London. Excellent room service, very friendly and helpful staff. Rooms clean and cosy with all facilities required. We came with three children with erldest 3.5 yo and we were very comfortable. Nice addition is a kitchen available to use and an outdoor space to sit in. We will be staying again.Rooms: 5/5
We loved: the amazing location, the room's balcony, the cuteness of the outside, and the access to a kitchenette. We struggled with the bed! It was very hard and came with flat pillows. My body would hurt every morning and I did not sleep well the whole time. The room, bathroom, and staircase were all small and narrow, but it was easy to get used to that and, in the end, they sort of added to the charm of the place! I would totally return here if it weren't for how uncomfortable the bed was. Other than the bed, this place made for a great first experience to London on a budget. Rooms: Very small and simple-- my only complaint is the extremely uncomfortable/hard bed! Safety: No worries at all! Very safe. Walkability: Fantastic! The location added to our experience. Food & drinks: Kitchenette was spacious and worked for us! It's simple, so think fridge and microwave. There was no complimentary coffee like we've had at our other stays. Noteworthy details: Room came with a balcony! No AC.
Such a lovely place. A traditional guest house in a great location. Incredibly friendly hosts, spotless room, and very quiet. A recommend.Rooms: 5/5
What a find! I have been to many hotels in the UK and abroad and this will definitely be one of the best. For a 3 star hotel they have really put in the effort and thought about everything. I was pleasantly surprised that they have two dining rooms where you can sit eat which also has a kitchen area where you can use the microwave, toaster, kettle and fridge. All plates and cutlery provided. Tony is an excellent host, very friendly and accommodating. He even upgraded my room for free due to a last minute cancellation and didn't charge the extra charge for my partner coming to stay on the second night. The place is very clean and organised, they even have a deal with the local cafe that you can get 15% off your breakfast! Very convenient location close to supermarkets, shops and bars as well as Clapham junction station all very close by. Very well priced for the location and for what you get for your money. Would definitely visit again and recommend. Rooms: Due to a cancellation I was fortunate enough to be upgraded free of charge to a larger double room. The room was spacious and seemed to have everything it needed. However it was a little hot at night and due to being on the ground floor I did not want to leave the front window open for air, therefore some sort of fan/air aircon would have been helpful. Nearby activities: This is located in the heart of Clapham junction with lots of bars restaurants as well as an Asda and Lidl. Very convenient location with a short walk to the station.
Good luck to book this facility. Great location for our needs, room was very comfortable, and the guest dining rooms, both inside and by the outside garden area was very well equipped with refrigerator, microwave, coffee, and TV. As you will notice from prior reviews, Tony and Lisa are so attentive and helpful to all their guests, having come from a hotelier background. Safety: Fire blankets, extinguisher and locked entry doors.
Perfect location for catching up with friends at short notice. The room was small but clean and comfortable with plenty of storage. It was quiet for a great night sleep and the service was outstanding - the team were so willing to help.Rooms: 5/5
NOISE: Between two side roads, this is possibly the quietest place to stay in London. If that’s especially important to you, ask for Room 3, which is small but has no adjacent or above-floor rooms around it, and opens up to the back courtyard. SERVICE: Everything was great. The Internet dropped out for a day in the area because of a lightning strike and they actually credited us $10 for the brief outage…something I wish more places would do. They were also very communicative. LOCATION: 5-10 min walk from a huge railway station so it’s very convenient. Also, we found out our London tour guide lives here, and was very impressed that we were staying in the area. Not huge for tourists but some of the best food in town, and a real good part of the city. Also, make sure to go to Jack’s. Extremely cheap and friendly place to eat, especially with the 15% discount. LAUNDRY: This was a very, very minor downside. If you plan on doing laundry there are 1-2 places close by but they don’t accept credit cards for some reason I know other places definitely do. So, you can either bring cash annoying becuse this is probably the only time you need cash on your trip or else pay a few GBP extra and have them do your laundry for you…but it’s a bit pricy. OTHER: There are also indoor and outdoor kitchens and dining areas you can go to to eat/cook helpful if your room is small like ours. Overall, great value, great place, would definitely stay again.
Lots of other reviewers mention the small rooms, so you know that before booking and if you need more space, look somewhere else. But for me and my partner, a room is just for sleeping and washing, and we don't ask for much more. We opted for room 8 as it has it's own ensuite bathroom, but some rooms have their bathrooms next door and that would have been fine as well. The rooms are really fresh and clean. The carpet on the floor is nice and warm, no visible stains, no buildup of dust. You can tell it's being kept tidy on a daily base, the whole house smells fine, not like an old dusty hotel. Same goes for the bathroom. The toilet was a bit funny as from the outside it looked like it was built into an old closet and had no lock no problem if you travel alone or with your romantic partner in my opion, but it was fully tiled and maintained. Oh and the towels are soft and smell really nice! I don't know what detergent they use, but please keep using it because drying my face in the morning was an odd pleasure. Tony and his sister run the place together and are quite accommodating to their guests. Our flight was a bit delayed and the underground we needed got suspended for the day, so we arrived 2hrs after our scheduled check in, but we kept them up to date in the chat and they were very welcoming once we arrived. There's a shared room downstairs outside in the garden which hosts a small kitchen with a fridge, two tables and some chairs where you can hang out for some reading, coffee or -in our case- make ourselves a small breakfast that we got from Asda supermarket. The place is located a bit south from the city center, but it offers pretty much endless public transport, both the underground Clapham Junction or multiple busstops are available at walking distance. Shops, supermarktes and multiple restaurants/fastfood chains are plenty so you shouldn't go hungry at any time of the day. There's even some shops like Boots and TKmaxx if you need anything else. You can be in the city center within 30mins using any form of public transport. The underground is faster, but a bus fare is very low and gives the option for some sight seeing as well. For London's average hotel price, I would chose Lavender Guest house again in the future. Being out in the city all day, we would not use any of the more luxurious facilities bigger hotels have to offer, and it's nice having a more quiet place where you can retract from the city buzz.
