We stayed at Lainston House March 2024 and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Positives are the staff, the rooms, and the food. We stayed two nights, and had a fabulous meal in the Wellhouse. Breakfast was good. There were one or two minor negative points. We thought arriving in the dark the signs could be a little clearer and better illuminated. Although on initial arrival you can 'drop off' bags by the entrance, that isn't actually made clear. It is a short walk from the car park to the house entrance. Not much fun in the wet. These are minor points, and certainly did not diminish our stay. We would suggest that a fridge would be a positive addition to the rooms, there was plenty of space in our room for a small fridge. Special mention to the staff, all were wonderful, thank you for making our stay a memorable one. We would happily recommend Lainston House.
Lovely lunch with a friend. Cedar bar menu during the day was well diverse and not limiting. I had the sea bream which was great. Also, bring the dogs. They are more than welcome big it small and my little chihuahuas loved the fields.Rooms: 5/5
We had a delightful stay at Lainston House. My mother is elderly and uses a wheelchair most of the time, and the staff were incredibly helpful. When we arrived, they quietly reassessed what we needed and very kindly upgraded us from a junior suite to the charming Garden Suite. We had dinner at the Wellhouse on our first evening - delicious wood-grilled food - tender and extremely tasty. Our second evening was in the elegant, wood-panelled Avenue restaurant - beautifully presented dishes throughout. Breakfast was excellent too. The Exclusive Hotels group obviously believe in treating their staff very well - they all take real pride in their jobs and in the hotel. Winchester Cathedral is just up the road and is fascinating. It is very accessible for wheelchair users.
Increible. Our whole experience was exactly that. Starting with such a welcome from the reception team we were made to feel very relaxed and comfortable which continued when we went and had a coffee in the lounge, drink in the bar, dinner in Avenue X and breakfast too. The hotel is beautiful surrounded by lovely gardens and views. Rooms: The rooms are sumptuous, entrance and the main rooms have high ceilings.
We booked a table because the amazing Tom Hamblet was guest chef and booked months in advance with a confirmation email if a tasting menu and allowed three hours for the dining experience! We were greeted with an Al La carte menu and a feeble excuse they were too busy to offer the tasting menu! After we had paid a £120 deposit too, we were offered a free glass of fizz!!! We were there for Tom’s food which was amazing and we did get to to meet him too but let down by the process and lack of communication by the restaurant and staff We were let down 15 years ago so felt worth another go but may wait another 15 years before we go again
Horrendously expensive, watch out for mandatory 20% service charge. Whiskey and coke was £16.50 for a single! I'm not tight but wear a belt or your have your pants pulled down. Lovely gardens and lovely building. As expensive as London Ritz, which is fantastic, and famous. Many delegates too. Some rooms very tired and windows outside needs complete attention!
We haven’t stay in the hotel, but visited the Avenue restaurant and bar area several times. Never disappointed- food is consistently delicious and service received by friendly but efficient staff. Will be back again! Service: 5/5
Beautiful hotel with stunning grounds and service to match! Attended a wedding in December and the hotel was just on another level. Even picked up a mascot for the kids, Nutmeg the owl. Will be returning again in the future.
Lainston House A little hidden away oasis 5 minutes from the beautiful town of Winchester. From the moment we arrived it was just perfect. When you drive up to this 17th century country house it really does take your breath away. The grounds, the driveway up, the gates on entrance & then entering the main reception into the impressive entrance. I can’t thank the team enough for making our stay so wonderful. We were celebrating our anniversary & were lucky enough to be upgraded to one of the bridal suites complete with the biggest & most comfiest bed I’ve ever seen… a bathroom with the most stunning roll top bath & the room was filled with stunning pieces of furniture. Not forgetting to mention the delicious chocolates & champagne on arrival. All of the team knew of us as the couple from Guernsey who traveled 200 miles & were 10 hours delayed for a weekend away! Our main reason for booking this trip is we are big #teamtom fans & if you haven’t watched Masterchef the professionals… I suggest you do! We were lucky enough to get one of the tables at Tom’s sold out residency and it really was an exceptional experience. Congratulations Tom & thank you for taking the time out to meet us. The cocktails in the bar were served by a fabulous team & the food tour didn’t stop there. We had the most incredible Sunday lunch at the restaurant hidden in the grounds called The Wellhouse, where everything is cooked by woodfire…hands down the best roast we have ever had. I basically will be finding any excuse to return & it really was a faultless trip excluding the travel to remember. Big thanks Lainston House. If you are thinking of booking just do! The hotel is part of the group and I have seen some other hotels in the group that look absolutely incredible too! **frantically researching the next trip Rooms: Large statement rooms Food & drinks: Just incredible!
