Just had a lovely meal in the Eagle's Head as they had just opened at 5pm. The service was good friendly, everything explained. A meal order was placed at 5:20 and served at 5:50. We both had pies which were well stuffed with various fillings, served with crispy chips not over done and 2veg. The overall atmosphere is good with a mix of customers. A thoroughly good early evening meal and well recommended. Vegetarian options: Nut roast Sweet potato curry Macaroni cheese, and pizza Parking: A few up to abt 8 Dietary restrictions: Ask before ordering
Friendly folk and tasty food but a long wait. Nowhere to go and great atmosphere. The wait was no problem - we enjoyed the atmosphere but for those folks for whom that's important, we did wait one hour from ordering. Not a problem for us!
Pizza was lovely, disappointed that the member of staff wasn't keeping an eye on her dog. I love animals but as an animal owner if you are in a public place like a restaurant/bar you are responsible for making sure that your little freinds doesn't miss behave. Unfortunately he done it 3 times once on my partners food then mine then the plate that had the pizza. Just to inform the members of staff.
Booked ahead to ensure we got a family sized table, staff were all very friendly and helpful — excellent pub grub at a reasonable price, great selection of drinks and beautiful views, great book collection too for those looking for a nice pitstop with something to read - children’s menu was great and local to surrounding campsites and accomodation - Would recommend to family and friends - Thankyou
Lovely little pub, only had drinks, we wanted to eat but chef not working that day, maybe next time we visit this beautiful area we will check out the food. I remember exactly the date of our visit as it was our wedding anniversary 14th April 2021, we had passed the day before on our bikes on the way from Grizedale, we stopped and asked if we needed to book and we were told no need. So next day on our anniversary we decided to hike from our campsite and arrive at the Eagles Head for celebratory lunch. When we arrived the very pleasant young lady told us that unfortunately they were not serving food as the chef was not there. We made the most of it though, wine and crisps, but we were disappointed. We will come again one day, as I said its a lovely little pub in a gorgeous place
Wonderful pub, food was excellent with multiple veggie options which was a very pleasant surprise! Very out of the way and a very small car park so may need to park up the road if it's busy. Pizza was excellent and beef lasagne satisfied one of the most discerning lasagne eaters I've had the pleasure of dining with. Some instruments on the wall and a piano so I assume they do live music sometimes. Looks family, dog, walker, everyone friendly. Pictured is Bob the pub dog, he likes chips and ice cubes, he is the goodest boy.
What a fantastic place, real hidden gem. Warm fire, great feel, awesome food burger and pizza were really tasty and local pint of bitter. Service was excellent. Highly recommended
Spent the week camping at Grizedale camp site, arrived Sunday and ventured to the eagles head for an amazing roast dinner, the home-made pie is incredible, super friendly and acomadating staff, very friendly and helpful and the local beer is second to none, me and my wife can't wait to go back soon for some more good food
Whether it's by the roaring stove in winter, or soaking up the rays outside in summer after a bike ride, the Eagle's Head never disappoints - a pub with tons of character, lively locals and really friendly staff.
Went in here for a drink and something to eat after a walk around grizedale forest. The beer was great and very well priced. And food was brilliant.
