Pub was fairly quiet for a Friday night. Beer is fine but I ordered three portions of fries/chips and it cost £14. Quality and portion size was disappointing and it took a long time to arrive. I've had food from here on previous visits and it was good but pricey.Food: 2/5
We love Ulverston and call at The Sun Inn each time we visit. Tonight it was having its own music festival and very busy indeed. Saying that we were looked after straight away by Dave, apparently only been there 2wks..he was fantastic you really need to keep him as he does a wonderful job . He was a joy to watch looking after everyone. Unfortunately the menu was limited due to festival. We chose burgers and was not disappointed 5* didn't wait to long considering how busy it was. We'll be back next time we're in Ulverston.
It's a nice hotel it needs a updating in places. The room was not bad, comfy bed. The only problem i had was the noise of extractor fans at the back of the building & the loud music unit 2am. I can say. I will not be coming backFood: 2/5
Food was gorgeous Bought a simple pie and mash but the flavour was stunning. Red wine, seasonal veg, brilliant gravy. Worth the extra pennyFood: 5/5
Stayed here for one night on a Friday before starting the Cumbria way and was hoping to feel refreshed and ready to start the day in the morning, however nowhere on the description of their rooms does it mention that the pub downstairs is essentially a nightclub with very loud music that goes on until 2am. Not what we were expecting whatsoever. I wouldn't recommend you stay here if you're walking or hiking and value your rest.
Great value, great staff,. We stayed in room 9 very reasonably priced clean and well equipped room with a breakfast menu worthy of a large hotel chain. Parking was included in the cost Well done and thank you to the sun Inn Ulverston and its new staff. In particular Toby and Richard We'll be returning soon. Thanks
The four of us stayed in for a night on the 19th sep 2022. They warned about noise but we didn't have any complain. We have an amazing dinner there. Best chess and onion pie ever tasted. Juicy chicken and burger meat. Everything was delicious. However, they took 30 minutes to serve breakfast. And all options were salted not sweet. It would have been perfect to be able to have some continental breakfast. But they were happy to offer something out of breakfast menu for us. All staff was really friendly and helpfull. One of the staff seemsed to be a bit suspicious of us because he followed us every time we go out to the beer garden or car park to check on us, or at least that was the impression. Basic, clean rooms but not much decoration or details.
Went in for lunch today at 12.30. Food took over an hour and 20 mins to arrive. In fact, it didn't arrive. Place was not busy. Only seemed to be one waitress covering front of house. Next table's food eventually came and they said the soup was not hot and tasted of vinegar. Their carbonara was basically dry spaghetti with no sauce. They asked for the manager who said they only had 1 chef in and he was from an agency so he would knock the soup off their bill. They had ordered just before us. I had also ordered carbonara so wasn't holding out much hope. We paid for our drinks which we'd finished an hour earlier and left hungry. Felt awful, but as it was 2pm by this point we had used up most of our carpark time and didn't want to spend what little time we had left eating awful food. The people on the next table said we were doing the right thing by leaving!
We've had better hotels. The lad at the bar has done his best to improve the situation. That's worth the second star. Would we ever stay here again? No. The floor was VERY dirty, even after the second vaccuum. The matrass is worn out. The whole room looks bad with stains and holes. The window is "fixed" with tape. When we arrived the room was 30C, so even with windows open hot as hell. It was Sunday to Monday so the pub downstairs closed at 23h. Reading other reviews now that was our luck. Eventhough there were some questionable folks and a sticky stairway up to the hotel, it was quiet all night.
had a fantastic 2 night winter getaway break hear .can not fault it .breakfast really good .just like the evening meal .will defiantly return
