I had a perfect stay at The Academy hotel. The hotel staff were very attentive and pleasant. I was lucky enough to be upgraded to a larger room on my birthday weekend. The staff had also prepared balloons, a bottle of wine and a birthday card. The hotel is very charming, quiet and pleasant. The rooms are spacious, the garden is cozy and the breakfast is very good! Excellent value for money and a London address to keep! We loved our weekend at The Academy and it has become our new favorite address! Walkability: 20 minutes walk from the Station and 15 minutes from the very center of London. It’s well located. Food & drinks: The breakfast was very good and with enough food.
I had a fantastic stay at The Academy Hotel in London. The place has this perfect mix of classic charm and modern comfort that makes you feel right at home. My room was cozy, clean, and had all the little extras like great toiletries and a coffee machine. The courtyard garden is a lovely bonus—such a peaceful spot to relax with a drink in the heart of the city. The location couldn’t be better, with the British Museum and plenty of great places to eat just around the corner. The staff were super friendly and helpful, always ready with tips or just a warm smile. If you’re looking for a stylish, comfortable stay with a welcoming vibe, I’d definitely recommend The Academy.
Great location! Complimentary breakfast was included with our booking, which was a delicious spread with quite a lot to offer and the option to purchase more substantial items at a reasonable price. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. Our room was gorgeous a Bloomsbury suite, the only critique is that it could have used more/larger overhead lighting or sconces, because some areas felt a bit too dim at night. Overall lovely experience and would stay again!
Very good hotel, close to RADA, and not far from the underground, the receptionists are super friendly, and the service is really good, I enjoyed my stay in London thanks to them and I intend to return. The only small downside was the fact that I had a problem with my air conditioner which made me change room, but apart from that nothing to say. The beds are comfortable, and the room is pretty good. Some doors are missing paint but apart from that, nothing to say.
This hotel is so small... How small is it? -- This room #48 was so small, you might hit your head on the ceiling getting out of bed. -- This room was so small, you have to slide your legs under the sink to sit on the loo. -- This room was so small, you have to leave the bathroom to towel off after a shower. -- This room was so small, you have to move furniture to open the closet. All of this might be funny, but it is definitely true. I booked a Bloomsbury King room, which is advertised as a decent sized room. It was not. To boot, the air conditioning unit barely worked. I didn't personally mind that the room was a 5th floor walk-up, but do mind that the absence of a lift is not clearly disclosed on the website. If you have any problem walking stairs, do not book this hotel. The staircase is narrow and uneven and worrisome for those who may have mobility challenges. Sadly, in spite of the friendly staff and lovely common areas, I will not book this hotel again. Sorry not to be more supportive, but a few fatal flaws made it a regrettable choice for my recent 2 night stay on a business trip. Noteworthy details: No lift/elevator.
Wouldn’t stay here again or recommend. The people in the front desk are super nice and welcoming. The lobby area is pretty and it has a cute courtyard. The location is great, close to nice coffee shops and restaurants. Our room was in the top floor, which wasn’t the best since they have no elevator. Every morning I woke up with doors slamming 7:30 on a weekend and the cleaning ladies talking on the phone on speaker and cleaning in a very loud way hitting hard walls with vaccum. If you get the Townhome King make sure you don’t bring too many bags since its limited in space and the bathroom is tiny. I wouldn’t say its a 5 star hotel at all.
Stayed here for one night to see a show. A great location and the room was a good size. You can connect your phone to the big flat screen TV which is way forward. Very friendly staff and a great breakfast. Rooms: 5/5
In December 2023, my partner and I had a weekend stay here. I cannot rate this hotel higher than the full 5 stars. From the moment we set food in the door, the staff were attentive, friendly and the reception was spotless. Our room was perfect and again super clean. My partner liaised with the staff here to perfect his proposal and again the staff were amazing. They even went as far to decorate our room and supplied a lovely note and bottle of bubbly. We honestly cannot thank them more for our treatment here. It's a very quaint spot and we cannot wait to return again and again.
What a beautiful stay. Thank you so much to the lovely people of the Academy. I had a soft, sumptuous bed, thick towels, a robe, a coffee machine and lots of luxury touches. The staff were wonderful, the bar delightful and the location made it really easy to get the Tube into the west end. The building has so much character and downstairs it has been furnished in beautiful botanical colours. We loved the buffet breakfast which had plenty of choice. I'm so grateful to have found this little gem. A little tip, don't park in the Bloomsbury Square carpark around the corner. Cars get broken into.
Spend the weekend here. Absolutely wonderful hotel. Perfect location, great amenities and toiletries and service. The gentleman at my check out was outstanding. This is how hotels should be. Bravo.Rooms: 5/5
