The Royal Opera House is truly one of London’s cultural treasures. The building itself is breathtaking — both historic and modern at the same time — and the atmosphere makes every visit feel special. The performances are world-class, whether opera, ballet, or orchestral, with an artistry and precision that leave you in awe.nnWhat makes the experience even more remarkable is the attention to detail: from the acoustics and stage design to the warm and professional staff who ensure everything runs smoothly. Even just enjoying a drink or a view from the terraces is a pleasure, with Covent Garden buzzing just outside.nnAn unforgettable experience that combines beauty, history, and excellence in performance. A must-visit for anyone in London who loves the arts.
Phenomenal place. We watched the Magic Flute on a packed Saturday evening. Our seats were in the stalls and whilst expensive £177 each, they were definitely worth it. I recommend getting to the venue early to enjoy a drink at the bar - the atmosphere and the decor are brilliant.nnThe only negative thing is that the bars were so busy during the interval, it was difficult to get a drink and you can’t drinks into the auditorium.
A joyous, heartwarming delight, The Royal Ballet's performance of La Fille mal gardée was a masterclass in comic ballet. The dancers, led by a radiant Marianela Nuñez as Lise, brought Frederick Ashton's witty choreography to life with impeccable technique and infectious charm. Nuñez was perfectly paired with Vadim Muntagirov, their playful, ribbon-entwined pas de deux radiating with youthful love. The ensemble scenes, especially the intricately-woven maypole dance, showcased the company's precision and polish. From the barnyard humor to the exquisite footwork, this production was a truly uplifting and effervescent experience.nHighly recommended for any occasion.
We went to see Tosca this week, and it was a wonderful experience! The building itself is stunning, with a beautiful interior, and the staff were welcoming and friendly. The production was absolutely excellent – truly captivating and delightful.nnThe only downside was the heat in the auditorium, especially in the amphitheatre. At one point, someone fainted and needed assistance, and a few others were clearly feeling unwell, with staff called to provide first aid. It’s a good idea to bring water and a fan, but it would be even better if the ventilation system could be improved to match the outstanding quality of the performance.
My review comes more from an architectural perspective, and I have to say this neoclassical building is truly a work of art. The Royal Ballet and Opera House immediately draw your attention from the street, and stepping inside is a treat in itself.nnThe entrance is free, and you can explore what was once the flower market, now transformed into a beautiful bar, while admiring the stunning details of the iron and glass structure. The blend of history, design, and function makes it an unforgettable space.nnIf you appreciate architecture, this is absolutely a must visit in London.
