We celebrated our little one’s 5th birthday with a trip to see Matilda the Musical, and it couldn’t have been more magical. We went as a big family – and it was the perfect way to make the day extra special.nnThe show itself was absolutely brilliant – funny, clever, and full of energy. The children in the cast were incredible, and the whole performance kept even the youngest in our group completely captivated from start to finish. Our birthday girl loved it, and it was so lovely seeing her eyes light up during the songs and big moments on stage.nnThe theatre staff were kind and helpful, making it easy for us to enjoy the day with three generations together.nnIt was a truly unforgettable birthday treat, and we’d highly recommend Matilda to anyone looking for a magical theatre experience that the whole family will love.
Came here to see Matilda.nnAs a theatre, it was well organized. Signage was clear, the toilets in the basement were clean, and there were fun places for photos downstairs as well. Seating was a little tight and narrow. However, we made the mistake of booking a Wednesday matinee at the end of June. Coming in as tourists, we didn’t think anything of it. However, 2/3 of the audience were school groups and it made for a less than ideal theatre situation. There was a lot of talking, throwing food from the balcony and intermission, and a lack of understanding of theatre etiquette and not enough adults to help support it. Given what we paid for tickets, this was really disappointing. So I would keep this in mind if choosing a weekday matinee during the British school year.nnMatilda as a show was impressive - I mean - those kids were amazing especially the girl playing Matilda!
Visited the theatre to see Showstopper! The Improvised Musical, and guess what, it was improvised indeed. The actors were amazing and so talented. The audience decides on the title and plot of the show, so no one performance is the same as the other. Definitely a good idea for a fun night out.nnDon't be confused by the posters of Matilda, the musical outside, since the theatre hosts both of the musicals.nnHad a bit of unfortunate experience with the cloak room. On entering the theatre, we were told that there was a cloak room to drop off the backpacks. Once we arrived at the counter, a staff member was locking a luggage in the cloak room. Once asked if we could have left our luggage, she said that they didn't provide those services, and that specific case we witnessed was authorised by her manager. Left us feeling like second-class citizens. :/
Lovely theatre, smaller than others but makes it more enjoyable. We watched Matilda and the show/set was great. Very creative. Friendly staff with an excellent array of shops/pubs around the venue for a pre show pint or food. Recommended!
Matilda is an incredible show. The theatre is great and it was nice and clean
