There is only one place for crêpes in my mind, and that is this legendary spot. Whenever my family and I are in Hampstead, joining the queue here is an absolute must-do tradition. We have been eating here for over nine years, and the experience never fails to hit the mark. Hampstead = crêpes...nnThe history here is fantastic. Founded in 1977 by chef Edward, this local staple has been serving up the finest sweet and savoury options for decades. The queues can get long, but the moment you take that first bite, you completely understand why people willingly wait.nnThe ingredients used are top-notch and the flavours are incredible. My personal go-to has been the ham and cheese savoury crêpe for many years, which is also my wife's favourite. For something sweet, our son absolutely loves the Nutella. Looking through their menu, you can see amazing creations that have been perfected over forty-five years, like their famous banana maple cream dream. Even writing this review from miles away makes me salivate just thinking about it.nnThe customer service is just as wonderful as the food. The lovely Veronica and the rest of the staff are incredibly warm and welcoming. If you politely ask first, they are always happy to let you snap a quick photo of the process. A very important tip for your visit: it is mainly a cash-only establishment, so make sure to hit a cash machine before you arrive across the road! Also, their incredible success has inspired an imitation crêpe stand to set up right next door, just outside the King William IV pub on the left side. In my book, taking sales from an established local business like this isn't right. Make sure you step to the right, support the original 1977 institution, and join the correct queue.nnIf you get really lucky, you might even miss the crowd entirely, which is a double bonus. Highly recommended and an absolute must-visit if you are in the area. Delicious!
I don’t say this lightly: I just had the best crêpe of my entire life. Balanced, flavorful, and clearly made with high-quality, fresh ingredients. From the very first bite, I knew this was on another level. Whether it was sweet or savory I’d honestly go back for both.nI’ve had crêpes at trendy spots around the world, and none, none, compare to this. If you're in Hampstead, do yourself a favor: stop what you're doing and go get one here!!!
It opened about 20 minutes later than it was supposed to. The two women working there honestly weren’t very friendly either. The crêpe I ordered was also really bad — after just one or two bites, I had to throw it away. It smelled strongly of bad oil and had a strange oily taste. I definitely wouldn’t eat it again and wouldn’t recommend it.
The ORIGINAL creperie in Hampstead. Don't be fooled by the one nearby.nI've been going here for 20 years and it never disappoints. Yes there are some times when you can expect a lengthier wait, you're queuing at a place where there are only two people making the crepes at rapid speed and this place is legendary!nnMost recent visit was 1ish on a Sunday and we waited 10 mins.nnDelicious crepes, a must try!
The mushrooms and garlic cheese crepe was very oily and unappealing. My partner got a crepe at the place next door which didn’t have a queue and accepted cash and it tasted miles better!
