Top places in London and Europe! Super tasty cuisine, Michelin star level with great value for money. Extremely professional and friendly staff that definitely know what they're talking about! Special mention to the man himself Tom Straker - thanks for the nice conversation! Been here twice already this year and can't wait for the next one!
In a nutshell: decent food, well prepared with fresh ingredients, a bit overpriced, one terribly rude member of staff.nnBooked a party of 4 for lunch only to be messed around by the bookings team. Eventually settled on a 2pm reservation.nnLovely window seat, delicious food and excellent wine. One criticism is the staff were overly keen to clear the table despite food left on our plates.nnSadly we were hurried along as the kitchen closes at 4ish despite my original booking time. One female member of staff in particular was so rude to us that it ruined the overall experience. She was passive aggressive, desperate to have us pay and leave. Tutted when one creditcard failed. Miserable person. Otherwise all the other staff were friendly and helpful. Wouldn’t recommend personally. Try a restaurant that is genuinely excited to have customers. Felt a bit like they didn’t need or want our custom.
Soul food in heart of portobello area. This is one of the best meals to have in London by far. A must go place to have a complete experience of service, cosy ambiance and excellent food. The owner has a great story of starting this restaurant and now looks like he will go places in coming years. Every dish was full of original flavours and excellent presentation. I am in love with this place and it will stay in top list of places of mine to go in London. Flat bread options are my favourite and in main course pasta and steak was from heaven. Good wines on menu
I had high expectations with this being chef Thomas Straker’s restaurant but unfortunately these were not met.nnI’ll have to give it to them, the tomato and goats cheese flatbread was delicious as a starter. But that wasn’t enough to redeem the rest of the meal - the crab pasta was really average and I’ve had my fair share of crab pasta in my day so reckon I’m qualified to say this - I enjoyed my lunchtime Tesco meal deal more, definitely not worth the price tag. The monkfish and scallop crudo was nice and something different, but again, flavour and portion size were let downs.nnService was rushed from the moment we walked in, servers not particularly friendly. My thoughts go to the customers after us because we saw one server stroke a dog and handle plates without washing her hands.nnAllergy wise, accomodatingnThere are veggie and fish options. Meat is not halal but this doesn’t impact my rating.
I really really enjoyed my night. Came alone and dined at the bar, everyone I chatted with was cool. I will not tolerate any mussel flatbread or crab toast slander they were both incredible. Didn’t enjoy the duck ragu gnocchi but overall it was a solid 10/10 experience worth the schlep
