There is no elevator available. If you have luggage or a large suitcase with kids or older people. Don't think about it. Ask for a lower floor.…. NO...NO! I just bought four bottles of 2-litre water. How come the hotel didn't mention there's no elevator? It's not Hilton, remember? I'm absolutely disappointed! There are four more nights to go!
We had a wonderful stay at this location in June. It sits in a very walkable area near the university and the botanical gardens. If you have business at the university I cannot recommend this hotel enough! The location is perfect, it is near good food and even convenience stores. There are rental bikes available nearby that are nice for a pleasant ride through the parks and vicinity attractions as well. The staff were friendly. If we visit Glasgow again, I'm sure we will stay here. Rooms: The rooms were clean and comfortable. Walkability: The hotel is situated near the university and many cultural attractions. If you need to pick up incidentals Waitrose and Tesco are also close by. Old Salty's and Black Sheep have tasty reasonably priced food available for informal breakfasts and lunches.
The Grosvenor is a lovely hotel with friendly staff and a great location. Byers Rd is one of the most desirable locations in Glasgow for food and drink and is right outside the door. The stunning River Kelvin and Botanical Gardens are also across the road. So location wise this hotel has it all. The rooms are tidy and comfortable, although could do with some USB sockets on the wall, it is 2024 after all. I do feel the lack of parking spaces could cause an issue, although we got a space on this occasion. It does seem the price was bumped up, probably because of a Pink concert, meaning the cost was £200 more than it would be normally with a no refund issue. Other than than this we had a nice time.
Not usually one to complain however the lack of customer service received when staying at this hotel was extremely disappointing. I called the hotel to ask whether it would be possible to have an earlier check, many hotels seem happy to at least check for you however the member of staff I spoke to certainly was not happy to check. Upon arrival at the hotel the man at reception was extremely grumpy and actually got frustrated with me that I wanted to use a different credit card to pay for my room than the one I had booked with originally - even though I hadn't yet paid for the booking as it was to be paid on arrival - reluctantly he allowed me to use my other card. Generally when checking in to a hotel the staff will politely advise you on how to find the stairs or elevator to take you to your room, I was presented with the room card and met with silence - very strange, I was actually quite shocked with the whole experience, it was as if myself and my partner staying at the hotel was a massive inconvenience to the staff we had contact with. Cannot recommend this hotel at all - IHG group hotels are far far superior and they genuinely look after you. Absolutely terrible experience from start to finish.
Staying at The Glasgow Grosvenor was a dream come true for me. From the lovely Atiat,Stephanie and Peter at the front desk to the room staff ,all were kind and helpful. My gorgeous,Deco style deluxe double room, over looked the gorgeous Botanical Gardens. The room was clean and comfortable. The location is fantastic and most convenient for everything in the West End. I will stay there again, hopefully soon! Thank you to all who made my three night stay so enjoyable.
Fantastic hotel with friendly staff. Excellent meal at night. Breakfast was okay, choice was a little sparse when we came down at 10am. Room was comfortable. Would definitely come back. We all enjoyed it. The staff are amazing.Rooms: 5/5
This place looks great in the pictures but in reality it is a very dilapidated and shabby hotel, desperately in need of cleaning and renovation. The rooms are basic and not particularly clean far from "luxury"; the towels are musty; the breakfast is unappetizing and served in a dining room that smells like a locker room; the WiFi is slow and must be reconnected to every use. Friendly front-desk staff do the best they can, but I wouldn't choose this place again at any price. My 1st floor view of the Waitrose dumpsters loudly emptied around 6 am didn't help.
It was a nice hotel and good stay. Enjoyed the room and cleanliness. Location was great across Botanical garden and in the west end.Rooms: 4/5
I travel a lot for work, and trully loved this hotel. Lovely, helpful and extremely freindly staff at the front desk. Classic decoration, great breakfast, fabulous location, confirtable rooms with everthing you need.Rooms: 5/5
Very disappointing room. Was pretty deflated walking in having booked for our wedding anniversary. Parking an additional £10 which was also quite disappointing for an expensive 4 star hotel.Rooms: 1/5
