Bukharah

Story

Bukharah brings the essence of healthy, authentic & creative Indian cuisine to the West of Scotland. Our very talented Head Chef, has put together a menu that offers authentic gastronomy for everyone.

We offer a wide selection of delicious and exciting dishes which appeal to all palates. If you enjoy dining out and sampling the finest Indian gastronomy, then Bukharah is the restaurant to try.

The plush surroundings create an inviting and relaxed atmosphere.

The restaurant, which is part of the recently reopened Lorne Hotel, bagged both the Restaurant of the Year and Chef of the Year prizes at the scottish curry ceremony in 2010.

The award-winning Bukharah continues to uphold its ethos for delivering healthy home-style Indian cuisine with flair. Charcoal walls, exposed blackened ventilation pipes and brickwork give this large restaurant a somewhat industrial feel, yet the designer lighting and chilled-out vibe create a pleasing contemporary space. Dark wooden screens and curtains offer privacy for either large parties or those wanting a more intimate experience. Familiar favourites such as samosas, dosas, puris and pakoras come with chicken, lamb, prawn or vegetarian options, but more creative starters straight from the tandoor, such as the spiced haddock, murgh tikka (buttered) chicken or achari mushrooms are enticingly beyond the ordinary. For mains, the chef’s speciality king prawn skewers marinated with a blend of subtle spices deliver a unique and seductive char-grill flavour, while the home-style lamb on the bone is tender and nicely spiced. Home-made desserts are often absent on Indian menus, but here lies a gem in the kulfi, India’s version of ice-cream, which is expertly crafted with delicately balanced flavours, accompanied by a refreshing mango purée.

To add to the enjoyment is a cocktail bar offering dangerously good cocktails. Our signature cocktail The Bilberry will leave you craving more.

Stayed at this hotel due to its location and affordability. On arrival, we were greeted by friendly and professional staff. The reception is clean and modern. The owner was a delight and the staff were so welcoming and friendly. The rooms are well designed and clean as well as having super comfy beds. They also have climate control in the room. The showers and toilets were clean and they even had a rainfall feature! The restaurant was perfect - the best korma I've ever had! The best thing about this place was how genuine the staff were in their hospitality! Huge thanks to Dal and Mr Sohan! Will deffo be visiting again :
After checking into a hotel further up the street and seeing how much of a dump it was I was so happy that there had been a cancellation for bed and breakfast here. The person who took our booking was very pleasant and the twin room we got was very spacious with two TVs! The place is close to the hydro where we were going for a gig, so we didn't have to pay for a taxi. The breakfast the following day was a buffet type and it was fresh. Would definitely stay here again. I deducted one star because new carpets are needed.
Had an executive suite for an overnight stay which was nice if a little dark, the lighting was subdued and could have been brighter especially in the bathroom. Not ideal for seeing for the likes of shaving or in my wife's case attempting to put on make up which when done ended up looking like coco the clown. Nice comfortable and large bed though. The breakfasting area was also dark, perhaps to help disguise the food which would have been nicer if it was hotter, although it was only warm. Pity help you if you have poor eyesight. Staff were polite and helpful and the cocktail bar was nice
Do not recommend this hotel. Their service is absolutely appalling. Cancelled my wedding literally two days before the event without any valid reason. Bahader and the owner constantly messed me around since the beginning. They didn't even have a clue about any of the government guidelines when it came to how many guests were allowed at weddings. They went way over the legal limit. They made up their own rules and guidelines. It's no surprise they have went into administration. They got what they deserve.
Service - Excellent A++ Maintenance - Very Disappointing From the night we arrived the staff were great, the girl on the bar was very attentive and friendly, the food was fantastic not what I expected from a hotel and the wait staff was A+, as for the cocktail bar, every drink was executed perfectly by the bartender in the waist coat, very impressed! Excellent team all round! Would definitely come back for the food/drink purely for the service. But the rooms killed this place! We were put in a disabled room I dunno why... The door to our room stopped locking randomly, we came back to our room to find our door unlocked!! The noise of the Elevator!!!! Is absolutely ridiculous!! It's like a JCB Bulldozer driving right outside your window early morning!! The grout of the bathroom could do with a good cleaning. no mattress protector on the bed is a bit worrying. And water in shower is only lukewarm. Because if this I don't think I would stay again. Room No.314
Brilliant location with great access to city centre Rooms are mediocre but were clean. However, guest should be warned about all night parties in the hotel function BBB suite. If you are disturb easily by noise, don't stay here! Staff were delightful!! Dinner service was rather slow and could have been more attentive. Menu offered some very unusual Scottish themed dishes including buckfast chicken and deep fried mars bar :-P Not really value for money given the all night chaos. Although I did thoroughly enjoy the patrons banter
Comfortable bed, nice decor, powerful shower and good breakfast. Would have been perfect and a 5star rating if reception hadn't given a drunk guest a key card for my room, quite a surreal awakening for me in the middle of the night to direct the confused man back to reception for a new room number and key. Not too alarming for me as a 6foot odd, 30yr old man but if I'd been a young female in bed when a drunk stranger let's himself into the bedroom and sits on the bed I think it would have been very distressing.
Outside, reception and bar area are all lovely very clean and modern. However rooms are another matter, old and very worn out. Our bed was broken, no plugs in the bathroom, carpet was thread bare. Needs some work doing in the room. Breakfast wasn't great for the price
Nice place and lovely staff. Stayed for 1 night due to work and it was fine. Would stay again if down for 1 night myself but if was in Glasgow for pleasure I probably wouldn't. The room was quite small but it was clean and had everything you'd need-towels, hairdryer, tea and coffee facilities. Things letting it down were black grouting at the bottom of the shower nothing major but could do with being redone and breakfast wasn't great. The selection was OK but the hot food was more just warm and the tea was stewed to death. But overall not a bad place and all the staff were very friendly.
Stayed at the Lorne Hotel for three nights, partly because of price and partly because they are dog friendly. The room was fairly small but clean enough although the shower could have done with resealing and the grout cleaned. The staff at reception were almost monosyllabic although the domestic staff couldn't have been friendlier. We paid £10 per night for our dog which is fine however we were not allowed to take him in to the restaurant for dinner or breakfast. This was quite difficult information to find out as none of the front of house staff actually knew. We had booked room only but decided on the last day to have breakfast. Unfortunately we were unable to do that. I feel if a hotel is to be dog friendly it has to be inclusive throughout, especially if we are paying additional costs. The hotel itself is in a good location and parking is free overnight. I don't think I would choose to stay here again.
