Nice little hotel- interesting decor, clean and comfortable rooms, very warm in winter. Third floor room, road facing so a bit noisy from traffic. Bathroom had natural light and window, although shower had very poor water pressure. Breakfast fine and perfect location for tasty west end brunch options. Lots of stairs but a great view from room.
This charming hotel was perfect for our grand Scotland adventure. Stayed at 6 other hotels of similar price range during our 3 week adventure. This hotel felt like home. The staff was friendly and super helpful. The rooms were super clean and spacious with tall bright windows. The beds were so comfy that I wished I could have lounge in the mornings a bit longer. Being a designer, a nod to the interior designer. The decor is a spot-on. A blend of modern, meets old world. Breakfast is simple and nice, to get the day going. Location was perfect. Daughter was taking classes at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and son was doing a summer programme at the University of Glasgow.
The staff were extremely flexible and accommodating in light of the difficulties brought about by Covid. Plus, the room and the building itself was really wonderfully designed and I had an excellent night's sleep. Good location too - not too far out but it encouraged me to visit other parts of Glasgow, particularly the West End. I would highly recommend the Alfred Terrace Hotel.
Great staff, and I think this is It, I stayed 2 nights, to floor 3rd without lift, facing the main road and with single glazed sash window, if you are looking for a quite place ask for backfacing rooms. the shower did not work properly and it's quite small! I've also had a small issue charging my phone because the power plugs were quite far from the bed.
It could be great. But sadly it’s not. Two big fails for me. 1 a mouldy small shower room with a show that barely managed to get you wet. 2 a pathetic cold limp offering of a breakfast - no hot food unless it went in a toaster and a few slices of dismal packed sliced cheese. The bones of this hotel are fabulous with grand high ceilings and a sweeping staircase.
We were looking for a hotel/B& B in the west end as we were attending a concert at the Hydro and we found found this little gem. The service we received was 2nd to none with all the staff we encountered friendly and helpful. The décor in the place is very interesting with a dark but warm feel. The place is full of interesting objects that fit in really well with the style of the building. The room we had was spacious with great view out over Glasgow. The breakfast was continental style with plenty on offer from pastries, fresh fruits salads, cold meats and cheese amongst countless other things. The coffee was good too. All in I would really recommend the Alfred as a quirky, friendly place to stay.
It was really bad hade it bookt a big room. They have cameras all over the place in the entry mybpartner came the next day to stay with me the staf emediatly calld me and told me that no visitirs are alowd in the hotel only the one who has a booking first time i hear about that. What bother me was that they are watching in the cameras all the time as you go around the hotel in your day to day activity
Really amazing place with a very distinctive style! I loved the place. Very friendly staff and a great breakfast. Not wheelchair friendly though, nor much fun if you don't like stairs.
Lovely hotel with a real sense of character and charm. Staff very helpful. Very windy staircases no lift. Wasnt too keen on continental breakfast but probably my own fault for not checking when i booked. No parking which was tricky and was difficult to get taxis to and from the hotel.
If you aren’t worried about parking then maybe this hotel will be decent for you. But we were arriving from out of town and spent 45 minutes trying to find a place to park within a mile of the hotel. No luck. We cancelled the reservation, paying the cancellation fee, and found a hotel with a parking lot. I would have gladly paid £30-40 for valet parking. As it was, I was just so frustrated that I didn’t want anything to do with this place.
