Sweet little hotel close to the subway. Clean and comfy. Front desk was friendly, and even sent a text message checking on us. Which does not happen with bigger hotels and chains. Highly recommend if you want to enjoy the perks of city center, but don’t want to stay amongst it. Subway easily accessible. No elevators, but stairs give it charm. I would definitely stay here again if I return to Glasgow.
The woman at reception was lovely and she was there early in the morning when we departed. The place was really cute and just what we needed for our stay. The only comments we had would be that our room was a little hot and the fan provided didn't cool it as much as we would like. Also we had to flush the toilet a few times when you used it but so is the case with many older places in the UK. Would stay here again!
This hotel is in such a clutch location ! It is a 10 minute walk to Ashton Lane and Byers Rd which offer excellent nightlife, great restaurants and Ashton Lane in particular pedestrian, cobble stone roads that allows you to get away from the smell and sound of traffic. You can stay out late and walk home feeling very safe in this hip, university student-populated neighborhood. The hotel rooms themselves were also excellent. Ours was on the first floor and had giant 12ft ceilings, a king sized bed, picture windows, an ensuite, and an option for breakfast. The woman who checked us in was so lovely and helpful as well. Great value for your money and highly recommend . PS. The Kelvinbridge subway stop is literally at the end of this street and made it so easy to scoot downtown and connect to the Glasgow railway. We were so impressed with this small and efficient subway line
A lovely, clean 3 star hotel. The quad room was easily big enough for a family of 4 and the hotel manager went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and the kids have a nice stay. Highly recommend Walkability: Easy access to the west end and the city centre, plus a subway station across the road.
We had a great experience with the Albion when staying there with family for our wedding. Marlene and Diane were very helpful in organising everyone and took great care of us during our stay. We had a lovely big room in the city apartments, with everything we needed. The hotel is in a great location with loads of places to eat/drink nearby as well as the subway. I would definitely recommend.
The hotel is very well located. Close to the subway, and main road, and yet it is also quiet at night. The staff are fantastic, and must stress how amazing Marlene & Diane the ladies at Reception are. Extremely helpful, and very well organised. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Would definitely stay there again.
I was only in town for one night for a concert Emperor at the Barrowlands - amazing, if anyone is interested and the hotel was perfect for what I needed. Well located next to a subway station which had a "park and ride" deal which meant my overnight parking and return subway to the city centre cost a grand total of about a tenner. Also in walking distance of decent bars and a cracking mid-east take-away perfect at the end of the night after a long drive and a great gig. The room was really nice, clean and tidy with everything you might need. The shower pressure and temp. were easy to sort out but I don't liked fixed shower heads - just my preference. Breakfast was reasonably priced, decent coffee and a great cooked breakfast with other options also available. Marlene who was working when I arrived and dealt with my breakfast, was really friendly and helpful - the right balance of attentive without being intrusive. All in all a great little hotel and somewhere I will absolutely visit again if I'm back in Glasgow.
We traveled to the Albion by Citylink bus from Fort William. There was a bus stop 1/4 mile from the hotel, very convenient. The hotel is less than a block from the Kelvinbridge Subway station. We used the Subway as our main means of transportation during our stay. Breakfast was tasty and reasonably priced. The room was very comfortable. We appreciated that we were able to open the window. The hotel itself was small and quiet. We totally enjoyed our stay.
Stayed at the Albion for about a week and a half. Everything was great! We could only hear other guests when they were in the hallway outside of our room. Everything was clean and tidy, and the staff was friendly and helpful. It's a wonderful location to go wandering around the city. A subway stop is about a block and a half away. Plenty of great food around and several museums and points of interest are within reasonable walking distance.
The best thing about this hotel is the location: you're in walking distance of tons of great shops, restaurants, parks, museums, coffee places, Glasgow's West End is a great place to explore for a few days. That being said, the hotel itself is bad to mediocre, I wouldn't recommend visiting this place. Why? -The room was comically small, the bed so tiny and uncomfortable that it gave me back problems. Forget about getting a good night's rest in this place. -The bathroom has no handheld shower head, you don't get any complimentary soaps or anything, towels are hard and rough, drain was clogged. -Breakfast was very basic and occasionally inedible. Coffee was horrible and undrinkable. -Service was alright, although some of the staff were a bit brusque and unhelpful. I got the feeling the place is a bit understaffed. Next time we're in Glasgow, we'll definitely try a different hotel. Rooms: Our room had one of the worst beds I've ever slept in: very small definitely not a real two-person bed, uncomfortable and springy - I started getting back problems after a few days of barely sleeping there. The tiny room itself was clean, but stuffy and warm, even with the window open - we couldn't wait to get out of there every morning. The bathroom was also a letdown: small and with a cramped layout. The shower head is fixed not handheld, so very impractical, the shampoo dispenser was empty you also don't get any complimentary soaps or anything, very disappointing and the shower drain was clogged. Towels were fresh every day, but very hard and rough. Nearby activities: A few local highlights: Caledonia Books wonderful selection of old books, the Cottonrake Bakery great coffee and pastries, Perch & Rest Coffee nice vibes, the Kelvingrove Museum, Saffron by Paradise delicious Persian food, and many others! Food & drinks: Breakfast is super basic, joyless, occasionally inedible one day the croissants were hard, unbaked slabs of raw dough and not worth it. The coffee was exceptionally bad and an insult to caffeine: just watery, tasteless brown sludge. If you do stay at the Albion, save your money and have breakfast in one of the many, many great coffee and breakfast places along the Great Western Road.
