I recently had the pleasure of staying at The Grand Hotel in Hyde Park, and I can confidently say it exceeded every expectation I had. From the moment I arrived, I was enveloped in an atmosphere of timeless elegance and modern luxury. The location is absolutely unbeatable, nestled right next to Hyde Park, offering stunning views and easy access to one of London’s most iconic green spaces. Whether you’re out for a morning jog, a peaceful stroll, or simply enjoying the tranquility of the park, it’s all right at your doorstep. The service at The Grand was impeccable. Every staff member I encountered was warm, professional, and attentive without being overbearing. From the concierge who seamlessly arranged last-minute tickets to the West End, to the housekeeping team who ensured my room was always immaculate, every detail was handled with care and precision. Speaking of the room, it was a haven of comfort and sophistication. The decor perfectly balanced classic charm with modern amenities, creating a space that felt both indulgent and inviting. The bed was like sleeping on a cloud, and the marble bathroom—with its rain shower and luxurious toiletries—was a highlight. Dining at the hotel’s restaurant was an experience in itself. The menu offered a creative blend of flavors, and the dishes were as delicious as they were beautifully presented. Breakfast was a particular treat, with an array of options to suit every palate, all served with a view of Hyde Park. Overall, The Grand Hotel is the epitome of what a luxury stay in London should be. It’s not just a place to stay; it’s an experience to savor. I can’t recommend it enough and can’t wait to return. A true gem in the heart of the city.
PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING!! My boyfriend and I arrived at this hotel at 10pm after a long day of travelling and despite full payment weeks in advance we were told no room was available for us. We had no prior contact until arrival and we were given the excuse of “maintenance” issues. This caused us great inconvenience but it was also extremely poorly handled. Staff were rude and dismissive. We were not the only customers to be dealing with issues. An upgraded room in their sister hotel was promised however not only was the upgrade provided when we arrived at sister hotel, we were then told my partner and I had to stay separately IN TWO SINGLE ROOMS!!!! Following an hour of discussion a double room was “found”...but it was disgusting with a broken shower, window with faults and FLY INFESTED!!! Absolutely outrageous customer service. DO NOT STAY HERE.
Room was tiny and really needs a refresh. Wallpaper peeling off. Felt dirty, bathroom was so small you could put your head in the sink whilst sat on the toilet, the shower was broken and gross stuff in the drain. Shame because the main old part of the hotel looks so nice if you don’t look at the cracks. The bar staff need training on how to make drinks too, poor lady was a deer in headlights when asked for two drinks off the menu !
Room was excellent, location superb, and breakfast very good. In contrast to some worrying reviews I had read prior to my stay, the room was not too small, well-designed and equipped for its size, and within this magnificent historical building, with a most regal atmosphere. I very much enjoyed my stay, and felt as though I was staying at a palace. The hotel bar may benefit from being mentioned during check-in by the staff, as it is a lovely room, but seemingly not well visited. This hotel is not fully accessible, and may therefore not be suitable for those with limited mobility as is frequent for historical buildings.
Avoid if you can. Room was terrible. Service was even worse. Not a good experience. Traveled with my wife and first thing we noticed was how dirty and run down the room was. They tried to cover holes in the wall up by putting fake vents over them. The walls and floor were peeling and bed was falling apart. We dropped our stuff in the room and went out for the day. When we returned to the room there was a rancid smell that was overwhelming. Almost like a sewage leak in our room. We checked the bathroom but that was the only part of the room that didn't smell so we knew it wasn't from that. The hotel sent someone up to look and as soon as he walked in he said it smelled horrible and something wasn't right. We asked to change rooms and they said they didn't have anything open. We considered changing hotels but it was late already and it was our last night there so we toughed it out. I thought at least they would give us a discount on the room since it was so bad but that turned out to be impossible. I asked multiple people at the front desk for a discount and they all said they couldn't do it and I had to email the hotel to request something like that. So I emailed them. No response. Emailed again. No response. After multiple failed attempts to get any response I have given up trying to get any sort of communication going. So I would avoid this place and find somewhere worth your time and money. Unless you want to sleep in a run down, sewage infested hotel room.
We found Grand Royale Hotel to be outstanding hotel with fabulous service and attention to detail on our 4 day vacation. Rooms immaculate, food superb and in a great location. Would recommend and will return at Easter. Rooms: Immaculate and spacious. Nearby activities: Close to Hyde Park and Central London a stones throw away. Safety: Nothing of note, area around hotel was beautiful. Walkability: Close to all amenities. Food & drinks: Lots locally, only dined in hotel once, was lovely.
I recently stayed at Grand Royale Hyde Park, and unfortunately, my experience was far from pleasant. The staff was rude and unwelcoming, making me feel like an inconvenience rather than a guest. To make matters worse, the room was unclean, with dust on the surfaces and a musty smell. I expected much better for the price and the hotel's location. The beautiful exterior and prime location are sadly overshadowed by poor service and lack of cleanliness. Would not recommend and won’t be staying here again.
The rooms are quite small which is to be expected in a historic property I think. The staff was very kind and welcoming. The room was clean, housekeeping did a nice job daily. Location was perfect for what we needed. Would definitely stay here again. Air conditioning worked very well, much needed after a long day in the summer exploring the city.
Super tiny rooms. The shower sets off the fire alarm sometimes, and there is no shower curtain so water gets everywhere. TV didn't work well. No microwave or fridge so you can't save or reheat food, breakfast is 15 pounds a day. AC turns off for no reason and you have to call the front desk to switch to cold/heat. Have to call the front desk for ice, and no water is available except from the tap which does not get cold and tastes unfiltered. Floors are so squeaky you can hear them in other rooms. Room service was great. Room was cleaned every day and the front desk was super accommodating, but it was annoying having to call and ask permission for literally everything.
We booked a room for one night here. The location is excellent. But on arrival they tried to charge us more than double what we’d paid again! Apparently there had been a technical issue and they didn’t want to honour the price that we paid. This is completely illegal and immoral. We thought we’d end up on the streets that night. Other people arrived and had the same issue-they were being told to pay £200 plus extra for one night! A poor polish family seemed confused and traumatised by it. Eventually after 2 hours of waiting for a manager who never appeared, they agreed to honour the prices we’d paid for our room and for the polish people. Everyone else we saw was bullied into paying hundreds of pounds more. They refused us breakfast that we had already paid for too Terrible experience. Safety: Be careful. If you don’t pay extra charges you could be denied a room. Very disgusting way to treat people
