Great support from the staff. Visited for the first time, the staff were friendly and helpful. I can see great teamwork and professionalism. Appointments were maintained as scheduled. The patient waiting areas were great accessible toilets. There were also good parking spaces.
I had a CT scan today and I’m pleased for the helpful nurses and team work. They so professional and quick to do the appointments. No long queue, I come a bit early from my appointment time. There is good waiting area for patients, toilets and accessible toilet available in the waiting area. Vendors available out side the MRI & CT Scan Department, just in the main entrance of City Hospital. I been told, City Hospital will move to the new hospital Midland Metropolitan University Hospital by the end of October or early November this year 2024.
All I want say personal to be kind, unfortunately not everyone can be, i never want to hospital because afraid terrible treat and stay alone with my problems, it how you feels in, I can’t realize why people such long served, maybe some ‘ better”people serving out off line, I don’t know what to think, when i came with heart problem, and felt very bad and tired barely realize where i am, i was with my little son and waited 5 hours till12.20am, the line to the nurses seemed to go quick, but for a while we give up, i didn’t want torture child and afraid to die i back home, took some medicine I felt asleep but after an hour doctor called and said he needed to examine me , I don’t know what really happens but if hospital very busy why not put more personal to make all happy. I can’t say here bad specialists, but system is terrible, or maybe they scared about reputation, one more terrible story about person who was close to die , as ambulance did want to come, he was hard breathed, we took taxi straight away and waited 12 hours to get help,… Better better never get sick
This review is for all the staff on ward D25 - I cannot thank them all enough for their support today. From the time I arrived at 7am until I left around 8pm I recieved nothing but awesome support and care. Amazing staff including all the theatre staff. If you ever end up on ward D25 please appreciate them all on there because they all go above and beyond for you...a massive thankyou x
The services are good there, and in the eye department, I met a brunette woman who was helpful, cheerful, and had a smile that I had not seen among the staff in Birmingham. She booked an appointment for us on the same day, and we had the examinations done by a doctor who was very polite. I hope that this humanity will be present in the staff that I met in all the staff in the NHS sector.
Could not fault,, referral for bowel cancer checks - Within 2 weeks an appt, 4 days later CT scan, 2 days endoscopy- same day - all clear. City hospital could not have nicer , kinder, the receptionists in all areas brilliant, nurses and doctors and consultants all amazing, witnessed everyone treated in the same way. I was expecting a nightmare wait brilliant.
Unfortunately my daughter needed to see a doctor within the pediatric department. Our first visit was during the doctors strike so the wait was long, yet the care she received from the doctor Charlie was exceptional, she really is a fantastic doctor. The nursing team were also amazing.
My husband was in critical care with sepsis and pneumonia. His care was brilliant. There was always a doctor available to talk to us. They saved his life. He had been transferred from Walsall Manor which was dire!
If I could give a review with half a star I unfortunately would! I needed to attend A&E on the early hours of Saturday morning 02:00 a.m. and finally left after 10:00 a.m. today. I work as a therapist in the NHS myself and whilst waiting so many hours I was able to observe the lack of empathy and care from a number of the staff towards the patients. A number of staff showed a level of contempt towards the patients and disregard for the patients concerns. Fluids, both blood and faeces on the floor were left on the floor in the sub waiting area and there was a feeling I was in a third world country at points! There was a complete lack of communication between staff and staff more concerned about asking about bank hours and jobs than dealing with patients! One member of staff advised that if I left I would receive none of my blood results and then when I finally met with a Dr I was advised that one of my blood tests would not come back for days and she joked about whether I wanted to wait. An older man who I believed to be a nurse Ian was walking around doing very little other than worrying about his own taped up fingers, talking about his retirement to staff and about having his grandchild when his shift finished. I have never had to use A&E myself before, but I have attended with family members in the past who received excellent treatment from caring empathic professionals. It saddens me to see what has become of an NHS I have worked in myself for years. Staff who are unprofessional and have no professionalism and empathy. I have always told myself that when I cease to have empathy and human regard for my own patients I will need to hand in my resignation, although, I do not think any of these staff will who were more concerned about talking about their beauty treatments and showers for their henna tattoos will do this! Believe me when I say, you have educated and observant patients waiting to be seen. They see and hear everything! Also, with regards to data protection and information governance, there were staff I witnessed not locking their computers when away from the screen. I feel some basic training in empathy and information governance would benefit the team. After over eight hours of being in the department my own watchful wait was very enlightening and heart breaking to see. My final word is for the nurse who I believe was called Ian, when retirement comes enjoy it and please don’t think of going back to a job you have no regard for anymore!
I wanted to go A and E, they sent me to the 'GP', ok. Spent 6 hours here. Saw over 20 people go In and out after like 10 minutes while the other half were stuck there for longer than me. How do they determine who goes first? It's like they were randomly calling names cause the order made no sense at all. They behave like I've gone to the A and E for fun. I ask the reception people at 4hrs in cause wait times said 4hrs, and they tell me they're prioritising children meanwhile ive seen ten adults go infront of me and im under 18. Why are you lying? And when I finally got to the doctor...she was lowkey rude? 'Suggesting' that I should've gone to my GP instead. REALLY? I wonder why I didn't? Called them and they had no appointments, specifically told me to go to the A and E, went to the pharmacy and they said if might be a fracture in my foot and I should get and x-ray, called 111 and they said I should go A and E. Maybe that's why I went to the A and E. I wouldn't have gone if i didn't have a problem with my foot and could barely walk. Can't do much if my legs put of commission, can I? The nitty’s didn't make it any better. Guy started smoking in the lobby, telling everyone they were gonna die, and that he'd been waiting for 4 hours tbf he did look pretty pale and they only got him out after 20 minutes. Then they opened all the windows in -2 weather so the detectors wouldn't go off. Toilets smelt like straight piss, and were dirty. Staff were lowkey rude, and unhelpful. Trampy hospital. 0.5/5
