Right when I got the car, it was experiencing issues with the clutch. It felt as though it was going out. After taking about 20 minutes to find the correct number to call the one on the pamphlet was not in service, we finally got ahold of someone and they said they would send someone. After an hour, a mechanic arrived and told us that the clutch was fine and nothing was wrong. So we drove the car to the next town. The next day we drove it to the middle of nowhere and the clutch went out completely. It took the tow truck driver 3 hours to arriveat no fault to him, we were a ways out there, and he drove us to Aberdeen airport to get a new car. They gave us a new car and I thought that was the end of it. However I was charged $120USD for “returning a car to a different airport” and for not returning the first car full. The car didn’t drive so I don’t know how I was supposed to get it back to Edinburgh and fill it with gas.
Be careful of info in the booking voucher. Boomed car to pick up at waverly train station but no Avis car pick up point there. Had to spend for taxi fare to go to another location printed on booking voucher, which turned out to be another dud. Eventually, had to lug all our luggage to the location which Mr. GOOGLE pointed us to, thankfully not to far away from the dud location.nBest to call in advance to confirm the pick up. Hope the drop off for the car will not be another dud.
We had an amazing experience with our rental in Scotland. The reservation was great- reminders came through every few weeks and the day before we picked up. The pick up location was basic, but we didn’t stay long since they were all ready for us and the car was brought around quickly. Everything was lovely in the car, and it rode beautifully on those narrow, Scottish country roads. The drop-off at the airport was great too- took less than 10min and they were all so friendly.nWill recommend to friends!!! Thank you!
We forgot our credit card PIN and we didn't get a car, which we had already paid 560€ for in advance. The PIN was necessary for the security deposit of another 300€. We also offered to pay the deposit in cash, but they didn’t want to take cash. Now they want to reimburse only half of our 560€ and we did not even get a car. This company turns their headaches into yours. Very unprofessional.
Rented a car from Avis/Budget via website to be picked up at Greenside Row near Waverley Train station on 6 June 24. Advertised as closing at 7pm. However with no advance warning or notification this site now closes 3pm. Therefore unable to pick up car after getting off the train. Avis/Budget customer care were more than unhelpful, not offering any apology or alternative pick up. There is a site in London Street much further away from Train station but no offer was made by Avis/Budget to pick up vehicle from there. Staff instead told me Greenside Row would hold car for 24 hrs and I could pick up the next day. I wonder if they were prepared to meet the accomodation cost for the night for the delay caused by them! The only other alternative they told me was to cancel the booking and rebook for the next day. This would have seen a £200 increase in the rental for same period. I have never dealt with such an uncaring, unapologetic company such as Avis/Budget UK. Their customer service is extremely poor and unprofessional. I will be cancelling this hire unless they are prepared to foot the bill for a night's accomodation in Edinburgh for the stress and anguish they have caused.nnMy response to Avis.nnAbsolutely pathetic unbelievable response from Avis/Budget - reinforces their cavalier uncaring approach to customers and lack of customer focus.They caused this issue through false information on their website and it is up to them to rearrange their stuff up with me. I cant change my travel arrangements because I am arriving by train as they have already been told. They have plenty of time now to demonstrate they care about their customers and sort this out for me.nnSo I will await to hear how they intend fixing this.
