Excellent staff and easy location to rent from while in the city.  Very busy but with a reservation, efficient pick up and drop off.  The staff were accommodating as we adjusted to the rental car before setting off into city traffic.  The rates were competitive but the service made Hertz and east choice for Scotland.

Rent a car there on a Saturday 10.00AM in September and it was very busy. It's a very small place in a very busy area. We wait for one hour before being able to get the car. Everything was fine with the car. I'd strongly suggest to rent your car somewhere else than Edinburgh if you can, or else be prepare to wait for one or two hours (especially during high season).

Got a flat tire in Skye, after tire pressure light came on repeatedly. Called the roadside service number Hertz provided and while they said a service team was coming, nobody showed after two hours. Called Hertz again, they said you need to put spare on yourself and drive to an authorized Hertz garage and put a new tire on. Did that and the garage called their Hertz contact and they denied authorization because it wasn’t the same “brand” as the others, despite specs being exactly the same. Since I was stuck in Skye, I had to purchase the tire myself just to get to my next destination. I returned the car to Edinburgh and said I would like credit for the tire applied to my bill. Now they said, since I didn’t purchase the insurance from Hertz, I’m out of luck. Bottom line, Hertz did not care about our safety, convenience, satisfaction or anything else. DO NOT RENT FROM HERTZ IN EUROPE. I’m also a Gold Member. Awful.

Even though I was 5 hours to late to pick up the car the very friendly and professional staff organized a new car within less than one hour. The car was in excellent condition. The return was also very easy and fast although in the late afternoon a lot of people returned their cars.  I was more than sattisfied with service and kindness of staff. I would definitely rent again at this location.

Stay away from Hertz Schottland, especially Picardy Place, Edinburgh!
Not only received we our car two days late in Glasgow (meaning, partly travel by train and change of plans), we also experienced a very sad car return in Edinburgh:
There was a ditch in one of the tires. Apparently our fault - even though all the events the agent listed that could have led to that ditch did not occur. We're peaceful and just wanted to get going. So we asked him or his manager to check into our account and have the insurance handle it. We also told him about our very disapointing experience in Glasgow, asking for a more polite treatment and maybe a bit of goodwill.
All we got was an arrogant smirk on the clerk's face and an very unpolite attitude all together.
