The check in process was straight forward and the price paid for the hire car via our Easyjet booking was reasonable. Booked a Fiat 500 which was perfect for what we needed and the vehicle was clean and in good condition. Return process was also straight forward. Would book again.
Overall the experience was positive. Nikolas in particular, at the Edinburgh airport was extremely helpful. He went above and beyond his role. Can’t say the same for the call center: we had a problem with our key and they weren’t able to help. Also, I suggest no extra price if the car is returned not full when there clearly is a pump on the premises
Europcar is quick and efficient, the car was perfect the issue so not 5 stars is related to the lack of transparency when the upgrade has been offered, without explicating that the additional value per day was not the only fee to be paid up to the price already fixed in the web reservation. then I found the surprise in paying more than expected and shown by the employee because I had to add taxes ... my bad in not checking and being faithful in the employee numbers. Next time I'll use Europcar? probably Yes, but upgrading the car at the desk? probably never more.
It was kind of last minute end of year travel, it was late at the evening but the lady at the front desk was so nice, helpful and friendly. She offered me various options of cars and prices. And the next day I was received by a super friendly lady, Carol. She was just as amazing as her colleague from the previous evening. The car itself was in very good condition and the installed navigation system has been a great help especially in those countless roundabouts I had great fun driving in the highlands and isle of sky literally through the flood, rain, and snow.
While promising at first, they charged me for additional insurance coverage despite clearly saying that they were not charging me any additional insurance for this rental. This more than doubled the total cost of my rental without me finding out until several weeks after, and they refused to refund after I contacted them about it. My fault for not checking all the documents thoroughly before signing and for trusting the agent behind the desk. However I will never be using Europcar again and I recommend no one else does - this is not a business focused on their customers but instead on making a quick and dirty buck however they can.
Great experience! The guy at the counter was very helpful. The cost was very reasonable for a 10 day rental. They did everything they promised. I'd give 5 stars but my car was pretty dirty. After my awful experience with hertz, a dirty car wasn't a big deal. Very good experience.
Staff at check-in and drop-off was very nice and friendly. Return was quick and seamless. However, I picked the car up early ~60 min which came at an extra charge and didn't make sense to me since tons of cars seemed to be available. Also I was being charged extra for being a "first-time Europcar customer" it's not even true... which absolutely doesn't make sense .. if anything, shouldn't first time customers earn a bonus? While the associate at check-in was so nice to give me a "discount" on the extra charges, I don't think they should have been any extra charges in the first place. Not great!
I had tried to update my arrival time on the Europcar Website but for some reason it didn't change, so I was a few hours later than my original time to pick up the car. Since I am a "privileged" member I didn't see a problem. Got to check in and was told that my car was not available. I was given the option of a "compact" FOR THE SAME PRICE or a Passat for 10 pounds a day more. What a joke! I'm now being charged an extra $470 and it's impossible to make any sense of the invoice! Probably intentional. I should also add that the cap was not closed on the washer bottle and the wiper blades were worn and caused the window to smear when driving in rain. Clearly the car had not been properly checked before I got it. Not a happy experience considering previous rentals had worked well. UPDATE! Contacted "Customer Relations" as requested but essentially got blown off because they "couldn't verify the conversation" that had taken place when I rented the vehicle. A bit of a joke but I'm not laughing.
Be very careful with their staff there in the counter. They seem very nice and eager to help you but if you don't review well the contract they give it to you to sign they will add you without telling you anything a premium insurance. Then they will charge you more than 200 € and tell you that is a deposit that will give you back later when renting is over. If you call them to complain about this bad practice they will just tell you that you signed the contract. Ok I signed but I will never rent a car with you again unless there is no other option.
This store is particularly bad, everyone should pay special attention. Details are as follows. She refused to give it to me. I asked several times, and she said that you will give it to you after you pay. Then I can't spend time with her, and then pay first. When swiping the card, the main driver forgot the pin code of the card, and then used the credit card of the companion, and she also agreed. I have rented a few times before, and generally it is necessary to get the card under the name of the driver, or increase the deposit amount to ensure . Then I paid and issued the bill, and I asked her if the bill estimated payable is a refund? I understood that the payment due by the bank would be refunded to me. She said yes, and then I made a simple check, thinking that the upgrade plus the extra driver fee was about the same as the difference between the amount I paid and the deposit, and then left. Now I came back and found that the part I thought was refunded was deducted from the credit card, and I found that the young risk fees was still paid. I am very angry, the whole process is misleading and simply fraudulent.
