I wanted to write a positive review to counter all the negative ones. I booked with Alamo but they have a joint outlet with Enterprise at Edinburgh Airport. I was greeted nicely, had prompt and efficient and friendly service, and was in my hire car in about 20 minutes. I had to show my drivers license (UK) and provide a credit card to cover the excess. No grief no stress. The car was modern (keyless) (which caused some confusion) and in very good condition. I'm happy with my experience so far.

I was very satisfied with the rental. The desk guy (I believe his name was Steven) was very nice and polite. On the parking lot I was explained in detail how their damage excess system works and then we got a new car (Ford Focus) with a GPS in the dashboard. After we had returned the car there was a small scratch on the front left tyre so they held my deposit until the exact repair cost was calculated. The rest of the deposit was then returned to me. I had additional insurance from AXA (cca 50 euros for 5 days) so I could reclaim the repair cost from them. The communication with the car rental was prompt and they provided me with all necessary documents I needed for the insurance company. All in all, I have really nothing to complain about. Here is a few information you might find useful:
1. I was charged only with the deposit of 300 pounds, no additional fees.
2. I used my embossed debit Mastercard - so no, you don't need a credit card despite the fact that in the rental agreement that was sent to me by the Ryanair rental service was written that I can use only a credit card.
3. I noticed that people in reviews often complain that they were "forced" to by an insurance from the rental company (this applies to other rental companies as well) which is usually pretty expensive. Well, you can always sa no to that but in that case you are fully responsible for any damage and believe me, it's much more expensive than the insurance. If you want to avoid the expensive insurance from the rental company you can opt for a 3rd party insurance - in my case it was AXA. However, you have to buy this insurance beforehand - I was offered this insurance during the booking process by the Ryanair car rental service.

I don't usually write reviews but I had such a hard time figuring out who to rent a car with from Edinburgh that I thought I'd help others out. Alamo (or enterprise, which is the same company) were so incredibly friendly and helpful. Their whole team was really lovely. The car was clean and nice, and the price was super reasonable, even with the full insurance added on top. I would 100% recommend them to any of my friends.

Cuidado, en la oficina del aeropuerto son unos estafadores!!! 

Cuando devolví el coche me marcaron daños inexistentes como se aprecia en las fotos. Aprovechan que tienes que coger un vuelo y no puedes quedarte reclamando. Después te descuentan los daños del depósito y es imposible que te los devuelvan. 

Alquiler Toyota Aygo 13ago-21ago: 389,25€
Pago de seguro en el momento del alquiler del coche: 170,90€
Depósito: 432,50€ (se lo quedan porque dicen que me descuentan el GPS y los daños sufridos en el coche en la puerta trasera derecha) 

Total pagado: 992,65€ 

Muy mala experiencia! Sólo hablo de la oficina del aeropuerto!
