Solo Bike Tourist Camping I recently had the pleasure of staying at the YHA for 3 nights camping in my single tent. I would echo all the other very positive reviews of the hostel, staff and facilities. From a cycle tourist perspective : Main self camping area quite small but sufficient Lockable bike shed storage area with bike racks inside Camping kitchen facilities excellent Showers and toilets clean and modern Washing machine and tumble dryer available but no drying room. I hung up my damp cycling kit overnight in the bike shed. Hosepipe to wash bike Bike Tool station service facility Main hostel building common room very comfortable Ability to purchase breakfast and dinner Multiple places to charge phone and other electronic devices Free WiFi available in main building and worked in the campsite area as well The place is so good I'm returning in a few months!! Thanks to all the staff for a wonderful stay
We recently had the pleasure of staying at the YHA New Forest Hostel, and it was an absolutely delightful experience. Nestled in the heart of the beautiful New Forest, the hostel offered the perfect blend of nature and comfort. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warmth and friendliness, especially by our host, Michelle. Her support and attentiveness throughout our stay were exceptional. She went above and beyond to ensure that our group of 19 felt at home and had everything we needed. The hostel itself is a gem. The rooms were cozy and well-maintained, providing a comfortable retreat after a day full of activities. The communal areas, including the kitchen and lounge, were welcoming and well-equipped, fostering a great sense of community among guests. One of the highlights of our stay was the surrounding scenery. The New Forest offers a tranquil escape with its stunning landscapes and wildlife. We enjoyed several walks and exploration trips, which were conveniently accessible from the hostel. The facilities, such as the BBQ area and the fire pit, added to our enjoyable experience. They were well-maintained and easy to use, allowing us to have memorable evenings under the stars. As for cleanliness and safety, the hostel met all our expectations. Overall, our stay at the YHA New Forest Hostel was nothing short of wonderful. It's a great choice for groups and families looking for a getaway in nature. A big thank you to Michelle for her hospitality and for making our Christmas trip a memorable one. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a comfortable, friendly, and scenic place to stay in the New Forest area.
We 1 adult and 4 university students went for one night to the New Forest YHA. + right in nature, location as in pictures + facilities clean: self-serving kitchen, loos, showers + a lounge with nice chairs, games, free Wifi + tents and pods ok + big duvets, keeps you warm + all pods had an electrical heater, the tents had an indoor fireplace which the students loved + continental and British breakfast + they asked for any allergies + in evening offered the option to buy pizzas, but we went to the independent pub next door, which had amazing food, so I cannot say anything about the quality of the pizzas - 2 beds in the pod were very small beds, more like kid's beds - my electrical heater in the pod didn't work, and I found out at midnight, as this is when I went to bed... - no lights at all in the camping area if you want to go to the loo at night... - 3 staff members were greeting me when arriving, 2 of them were very nice and helpful. One not so much. The trip was booked by a colleague, so it was registered in her name. As she didn't show, this one staff member made a bit of a drama: saying to me we could be imposters. She asked for our IDs to confirm. I don't think it is necessary to say this into a customer's face, just ask for an ID without the drama. As we also had a drop out of students, so we needed fewer tents. We had sent her an email about this, but she said she never received one. Basically every time something didn't go as planned, she became dramatic. The next day she apologised to me and was very friendly, and asked us to come back.
i’ve stayed here twice: once in a regular room, and once in a sleeping hob. both experiences were more than amazing. the welcoming interior mixed with the tranquility of the new forest makes it a great picture for people looking to “get away from it all”. it’s awakening in the mornings, and soothing in the evenings. it is also an incredible place for cycling, whether that’s a short tour through the town of burley - which, in fact, is great in place of an unplanned afternoon - or a more scenic route, submerging into the wilderness. there is much more to be seen inside of the building, however. a pleasant cafe is recommended for that day when you just can’t get any energy to a group dinner to finish the holiday. the food served there is a tad bit pricy, but that’s forgiven due to the fact that it’s as tasty as the scenery is great. there is a quiet lounge strewn with comfy seats and board games which, i will admit, some of the pieces to mouse trap were missing to unwind in after a long day of whether that be cycling, or visiting witchy shops, or just admiring the view. all in all, this was a great experience. i’d definitely revisit again when i find myself in the new forest for a holiday, and i’d recommend this hostel to anyone with a desire to nature. p.s. i dont have any photos i can share of here, but i believe there are bundles of other reviews with pictures, so, don’t solely take my word for it.
Great place to stay, clean and comfortable, beautiful location with ponies nearby and walks from the hostel door. Very nice, continental breakfast and home-made pizza. Friendly staff. Have stayed twice, first time in bell tent Glamping , and second time in family room, both are really good.Rooms: 5/5
Another YHA trip but in a different location for me and another fantastic experiance had. This hostel had a refurb in 2017 and it shows as everything is very refined and new. Facilities for walkers, cyclists and day visitors. The camping and pod area is very peaceful and has plenty of facilities if you are self catering. Staff are very happy to talk about the local area and places to go, Michelle and Eleanor both took time out to make all guests feel welcome. I will inlcude plenty of pictures for anyone wishing to see what it currently looks like Plenty of parking, loads of open space in the pod/camping areas. They also have a bike shed, cleaning facilities and outdoor taps. I hope to return this year as it was a fantasic location for a relaxing walking break.
One of many YHAs we've visited. Can't fault this at all. From arriving to departing our stay was comfortable with no issues. Facilities were clean and maintained. The grounds was great and the staff were very friendly. We're glad our stay has given us many fond memories despite our short stay.Rooms: 5/5
We had to change our booking and the staff were super helpful in making the changes. We had three nights touring the New Forest and the location proved perfect. Best of all was the staff who were lovely and made sure everything was done properly.Rooms: 5/5
I can't recommend this place enough 11 out of 10 very helpful staff especially Tasha although I only camped it was a very enjoyable experience . Situated in the fantastic New Forest, Burley. Surrounded by of wild ponies, simply beautiful that in this day and age that places such this still exists Nearby activities: There's two pubs nearby The White that's literally next door that's quite expensive £7 a pint and a 15 minute walk to the Queen's Head that's more reasonable price wise.
Lovely place to camp, the location is quiet although the dawn chorus is impressive! and the self-catering facilities you have access to are great with multiple full sets of kitchen appliances. The staff are super friendly and helpful and the location is great for exploring this part of the forest on foot.Service: 5/5
