We came here a couple of times as backpackers and everything is great. Close to all the necessary and beautiful walks. Not really backpacker vibes as most of the campers are with cars or Caravans. The toilets are always clean, the reception really helpful and they have some essential groceries. Ideal next to the train station, there is a also a bus stop but the bus ticket is a bit on the pricey side. Great pub for drinks next door with a nice discount.
Well located for exploring the new forest. Great family site with clean facilities. Plus ponies wandering the site makes it a lovely experience. Pitches are not defined which has pros and cons. You can get a great spot, but it's the luck of the draw, especially if you have a larger tent.
We both loved the site, it was clean and the staff paroled the site to make sure everything is ok. The toilets and showers block where very clean and impressed by them. Pony's were on the campsite as it is the New Forest, plus it was lovely seeing them especially the foals. Not only that the woods are next to the campsite with walking and cycling paths, download the App and you can see where the trails starts, pub nearby, heaven!. Will definitely be going back.
I'm biased as family work here but even without that, the site is well maintained, the toilets immaculate, kids entertainment well thought through and the staff friendly and helpful. Remember that even though there is no power on any of the pitches, you can charge your phone or your leisure battery in the office. The New forest laws prevent wood fires so please stick to the rules. A few great pubs and takeaways nearby as well as some great places to visit and keep kids and adults alike entertained.
One of the better equipped camping in the forest sites. Now my goto site in the area. Clean toilets and showers a plentiful supply of toilet paper in all the cubicles. Welcoming friendly staff. Close to the town with all local amenities and a Co-op convenient store within walking distance.
This is a fantastic camp site. Well run, spotless and if you like ponies, you're in luck! Facilities are spotless and cleaned regularly and whilst it may be a little more expensive than the average camp site it's well worth it.
Great camping, hygiene is really good, has shower, laundry. bbq to rent, batteries can be charged for a few pounds as well. Pub is in walking distance and there's a pedestrian/cycle route to Lyndhurst along the road.
We stayed here for three nights at the end of August and absolutely loved it. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The campsite was big and it didn't feel like we were squeezed in at all. Great facilities and we enjoyed watching the ponies and birds. Pub closeby was a bonus!
It was nice being right next to a big set of woods. The toilet block is clean but there were only 3 male showers between the whole site which led to cues. The ground is rocky and you will need a hammer or rock pegs. We had to move location the first time as we couldn't hammer the pegs in. Also there are big areas with no top soil so its not the prettiest site. So make sure you take a good soft bed, as the ground is not. Nice nearby pub 5 minutes walk away where you can charge your phone, but doesn't offer breakfast. The idea of horses walking around sounds nice, but they are quite cheeky and saw them in peoples tents and backs of cars, and was a bit nervous of kids getting hurt. Were advised by staff to stay away from them which was a shame. Would I go there again.... probably not.
Too close to major noisy road. 24hr traffic. My own garden is quieter than this. Pavement out of camp to local shop is hazardous. Will not return.
