A great location for walking and exploring. Very basic facilities but all clean. We unfortunately didn't get the pitch we booked though which was slightly annoying and the electric was abit unpredictable. Hence 3 stars. But if you are happy with basic, it's a good little site.
We did not get the gravel/grass pitch on the confirmed booking, just a very soggy all grass pitch, the whole site electricity went down at 5.30pm due to the site electrical infrastructure being not up to the amount of pitches supplied the site representative ignored all texts and phone calls from people staying, after no contact we left at 7.30 without staying. Spoke to the site representative the next day who said the power was restored at 10.30 pm, another review says midnight, he offered to refund us but the refund never arrived.
We had a very pleasant stay at Carron which is a lovely and very reasonably priced campsite. It’s intimate with a space leading in for a number of hard standings and tents to the bottom. Toilets are a little walk up the path and very clean. The staff were super friendly with great comms and it couldn’t be better placed for the New Forest with a super pub, a large green with wild horses and lovely views. Site was quiet and peaceful and the kids enjoyed the open spaces to play in.. will definitely be back. It’s a little tricky to find with the postcode so you need to turn into North Lane and look out for quite subtle signage to a little track on your right as you turn in.
The two stars are for the cost per night only, nothing else to praise other than being cheap but not even cheerful. There's plenty of nature to see, would've been nice to have heard it as well, this site may have been a bit more appealing if music wasn't allowed after a certain time, a lot of other sites have a similar rule in place so why not this one? This site is unsuitable for people with mobility issues as there is no flat ground and the extremely basic bathroom facilities are a difficult walk up hill for visitors staying in the 'Tent Area'. On our arrival, we parked next to where my companion and I had decided to pitch our tent, we were told a short time after that vehicles were not allowed on that part of the site which would've been more acceptable if the family next to us had be en told.the same. Finally, we assume that the gentleman who took our money knew we were staying, but whilst packing down another gentleman approached as the owner said that he couldn't remember us booking in so a bit of a shambles on the management and running of the site. Wouldn't stay again and wouldn't recommend to anyone else either.
Great place to stay, peaceful setting, pub and restaurant a few minutes walk away. Also had hard parking, electric, shower and toilets. Covid permitting. All for £15 per night.
Nice little site, we were a bit dubious because of a bit of bad reviews. The facilities were clean and tidy. Recently been updated, work still ongoing but! Doesn’t effect usage of the shower or toilets. The utensils cleaning area could do with a lean-to just in case it rains.
This caravan site is closed now this site is not part of the caravan and camping club and is not listed. It does not have a licence to run.The owner die last year due to ill health.
We camped here with my 3 children 14,11 and 8 and my parents for a week. We had a fantastic holiday we even extended our stay we enjoyed it that much! It’s very basic 1 shower and 2 toilets 1 normal 1 disabled nothing amazing but nice and clean and does what it says on tin. The site is based in the new forest so you come off the site and there horses, donkeys, dears and pigs which is amazing to see the children said they loved going a drive, bike or walk around the new forest and stop looking at the animals and played by the rivers. All this on the door step for a fantastic price! There no park on site so the children have to make there own entertainment but my children was never board. The site was lovely, clean, peaceful and quiet and a great base for anyone’s holiday! Carry who owns the site was lovely and very helpful and nothing was to much trouble! We highly recommend this camp site that much so we have booked To go again next year!!!
Stayed 2 nights and had a lovely time, surrounding forests were spectacular. Pub nearby was friendly and reasonably priced, farm shop a stones throw away with alot of local produce and home made treats and preserves. Owner was lovely and amenities were kept clean throughout our stay, very quiet and peaceful! Would defo rebook!
This campsite is constantly in breach. It uses a paddock that is is not legally entitled to use. This illegal extension to the site causes a lot of upset, disharmony and stress for the neighbouring houses and has bought too many tourists into a small village. Why anybody would want to stay here is a guess beyond reasoning. Why you want to sit in a field looking at 150 crammed in tents in a site that has zero facilities for children, no shop or even basics …. it’s just an illegal pop up site and you risk when you come here that you may be turned off the land if they site your tent in the paddock.
