One of the Greene King pubs. Usual pub food and they taste ok. Very reason priced drinks and food if you are after the quick food and drinks .Friendly staff. A couple of customers sitting next to us swore a lot but apart from that all fine. They play sports in the pub. Free 2 hours parking nearby.
I prebooked to ensure we got in. When we arrived, the staff were busy and completely ignored us. I know they were busy so they couldnt serve us, but i also know from working in the industry, you dont just ignore customers. A simple "Hello, i'll be with you in a second" is a lot better than going out of your way to avoid eye contact. We were sat, already a little annoyed from being ignored. The waitress took our drinks order. Came back with the drinks and took our food order. She told us it would be 5 minutes till we could go up as someone was already up there and she would come back when we could go. Another women went up after the people who were already up there and then nothing. No one was there and the cheif had gone. We asked what was going on, as no one had come back to tell us and we had already waited 15 minutes after being told it was a 5 minute wait. The cheif came back and we still didnt hear anything, so we went and asked. We were told we were fine to go up and as we got there, a family that had come after us were also coming over as they had been told they could go. We had clearly been forgotten about and they had told someone else they could go. So we had to be up there with other people and could have gone up without the wait to start with. The food wasnt very hot, the gravy was very watery. The cauliflower cheese was very thin and watery. Most of the veg tasted/felt under cooked. The stuffing could have used a little longer and the roast potatoes were so big that although they were lovely and cripsy on the outside, they were also still hard in the middle. When we went to pay, we were again ignored for a little while. We just wanted to leave at this point.
big pub in Rochester near the Cathedral. Visited here several times, decent food and a place for a pint whilst wandering. Accidentally wandered in this time whilst they were running a carvery. I don’t like carvery so thankfully the regular menu was also on. Burger it was! Staff were friendly and food was served quickly.
Cleanest high chair in a public place I have ever seen. Lovely staff. Lovely people. Would be 5 if they had even 1 local ale but that is just me being picky
We've been a few times and this time we were a little later than usual, the food was good but it was obvious it was the end of the day. So we have decided to book sooner and get in earlier. Staff are delightful as always and smiley which is a massive bonus.
What a lovely place, clean and comfortable with a big well laid out garden. The staff were not only friendly and helpful, it was a pleasure to watch them work together so well, we had drinks and food, and nothing was too much trouble. Portions were so generous and everything was excellent quality. I had a ploughman's and it was more than I could eat, my wife had a baked potato, it was piping hot and loaded. Excellent will return.
Came in for a hot lunch and some drinks, the staff were friendly and helpful, food was great although I’d recommend checking the portion sizes as we had enough to feed ourselves twice over! Food was delicious and they had some afternoon entertainment outside which was nice. If I had any recommendations it would be to offer a few more toppings on the burgers like pickles or jalapeños but that’s just a suggestion.
Nice area outside to sit, with a nice view of the castle. Food is reasonably priced and we enjoyed what we had.. I found the drinks to be a bit pricey though. Toilets were clean and regularly checked. My only real moan is that we ordered and paid for the food and only then were we told that the chef hadn't started work yet and food would be 'a little while'
Great atmosphere! We visited in the evening and was served at the bar quickly. The live band was great and we all had a dance. It can get quite hot with the amount of people dancing on the dance floor so there's an outside area where you can sit and cool down and heaters if needed! Great night out!
Nice place large spaces. Drinks were very reasonable and the overall feel of the place was very chilled.
