A proper old style pub, No music though I did notice some CDs behind the bar. There was no games machines or such likened no TV. Bare wood Floor that creakes in certain places. Sells German beer. All in all a very good place if you want few beers with a friend and a chat. I would certainly drink there again.
This pub, in the late 90s, was an excellent ale house and housed not only the finest Ales but also a community of people's that were so friendly and lovely. I miss this pub terribly and wish the best for the current patrons
1st time visit, by invitation of a friend/new neighbour to weekly music nite. Thoroughly enjoyed the entertainment, new faces met on the night and the friendly atmosphere.
Had some amazing nights at the man of Kent, and it's probably my favourite ever pub. No thrills, no food, no strobe lights or anything silly, just good beer, good vibes and a lovely garden out back I was sad throughout covid that MoK rarely reopened, but understand their decision to do so. Glad to see they are operating again as pubs like this are becoming a thing of the past, long live Man of Kent!
This gem has certainly been reviewed positively and for good reason. But it's not just a place for well conditioned ale, the Man of Kent also boasts proper German lager as well. This boozer features highly on a true Rochester publican's list! The staff are sincerely companionable. The ale, and the appreciation for beer in general is paramount here and the general quality and expertise is genuinely modest. My favorite pub in the area by far, and I've been to them all!
What a gem of a pub, with a fantastic selection of real ales and continental lagers and reasonable prices!
Blessed with a landlord who knows their full inventory and is able to offer intelligent suggestions based on your personal preference. The beers and ciders are kept in perfect condition and there's a reasonable selection of spirits to support them. The facilities are immaculate and the ambience is wonderful. I look forward to returning very soon.
No thrills, great beer offerings, expertly kept. We found it friendly & had a good chat, about beer of course !
Great pub with fantastic beer. And the 'no masks no entry' avoids any Covid confusion
