Been with this practice all my life 35yrs The doctors are usually fantastic. And have helped me with so many things over the years. However actually getting any appointment is impossible. They are short staffed and underfunded. I was lucky enough to be given an out of hours appointment for a few days time.
How things change,I've been with this Surgery for 19 years,getting appointment was so so easy previously. This morning I was on the phone for 53 mins, I was able to cook and eat my breakfast, and have a cup of tea.After all that my call lasted less than 5 mins,my query was resolved quickly,but the wait is horrendous ,especially with that monotonous recorded music. Sign of the times I guess.
The gps and nurses are great once you get to see them. However, I waited an hour the other day on the line to be told there's no appointment even though I called 8am.
Used to be a great surgery. Now it's really difficult to get hold of for not so "important" issues that are just multiplying in number but doesn't warrant a call to an already overrun 111. Wish it was just simpler to book an appt even if it weeks in advance. If you need an appt in an emergency, always had better luck through 111. Suitable for those that have all day to sit on a phone. If you are employed or have young children around - good luck! Update: As of Oct 2021 - they have introduced a new eConsult system, absolute relief. I can make note of my problems submit and then they can review and get back to me. No need for me to sit on the phone and miss work meetings anymore.
I have been with this surgery for 34 years and I’ve never had a problem getting an appointment. You just ring at 8am and get one the same day. It can be a long wait but I think that’s the same with any surgery. The receptionists are always lovely and I’ve always been happy with the level of care I receive from the doctors and nurses at Woodland Avenue surgery. Thank you for the great work that you all do.
I have completely lost trust on doctors. They are never there anymore, when you neee them. I am been sick from last 4 months. Believe me, each time I call, they don’t have available appointments. From last two days, I have been throwing blood as I told the lady on phone. She said, call tomw and check if you can get an appointment. What if some don’t make it till tomorrow? Thank you NHS
Getting an appointment is very difficult. I used eConsult for a posible ear infection and was impressed with the service recieved. I spoke to a doctor who then saw me on the same day. He prescribed antibiotic ear drops which cleared the infection within 2 weeks and a follow up call too.
The surgery has now gone to e consult so making direct contact with the practice is suppose to be easier. I have been on the phone for over 40 minutes this morning x 2 occasions waiting to speak to reception. There is no way of knowing how long you are in the que for. I have also called the administration team and left them 3 messages as directed over last 24 hours but no one has called me back. I have completed an econsult form and got an email saying someone will get back to me by 10 th January!!! Sadly the surgery is struggling with the new technology and ability to manage patients request.
Absolutely appalling surgery. Have taken on more people than they can cope. Every interaction with this surgery has been the same. Most recently after a 40 minute wait i managed to get a call back from the doctor.Receptionist said to expect a call in the afternoon, which I got at 9am, call didnt connect, I had the phone in my hand and it didnt even ring fully once before disconnecting. Called back immediately and after a 20 minute wait was told they were too busy to call back. And If I'm seriously concerned for my 8 week baby to call 111. Which is ridiculous considering they prescribed medication for my son 14 days ago and asked me to call if there were no improvements. Hence my call in the first place. Just appalling.
Easier to go walking in center then to get an appointment at this Surgery. Waiting for someone to answer the phone excruciating painful. I understand they might be short staffed however they should not take on any more patients if they are unable to cope with the clients they already have. Should have stayed with the previous GP, only changed as I moved houses.
