This is a gem of a place really enjoyed our visit the food and the service we had. It's called the Windmill likely as it's next to what was an old mill now used as a gallery. They have a small car park to the side and rear and parking is not really big enough for the venue. The building is deceptive and they have a good amount of tables inside. They do have a few tables outside which would be ok in the summer. They have a great menu and a specials board, the three in our party all had different meals and all were excellent. The waitress was very attentive and they made a small modification to one of the set meals on the menu as one item wasn't to the persons taste, it appeared to be no issue. Would love to return and try some of the other items on the menu. If you are close make it a stop for food.
Absolutely delicious food. We had the beef Sunday roast, the duck roast and the bakewell and raspberry tart. Dog friendly, so we sat in the dog friendly area, which is this cosy small room which had a 6 seater, 4 seater and 2 seater table. Staff were friendly however minor tweaks could be made, such as; reading the specials to customers instead of directing them to the board; checking on how customers are enjoying their food; checking if customers want more drinks. We had a great time though and will definitely be back. It's right next to the canal as well so perfect for a walk afterwards.
Fantastic scenic restaurant on the canal. The artwork on the walls clearly tells of a good relationship with the art gallery and windmill next door. The food was exquisite, and it is my parent in laws favourite place to eat. The pizza is the best in town, but on my last visit, I had the Thai chicken, which is a uniquely stylish dish that works perfectly. Service was fantastic; they clearly value training new staff and getting them on the restaurant floor serving customers early, which I really like as it keeps the vibe young and personal. Price is about average for the area. Various beers and wines are sold, and the standard is kept high to please. Overall, I highly recommend
Looks nice to eat here but we had just popped in for a quick drink. The place was busy but it was all people eating. There were no tables to just have a drink. We managed to get a table when some diners had gone. Drank up quick and left. Inside was quite nice but didn't stay long enough for a detailed review.
Excellent service. We were a table of 15 so we pre-ordered our meal choices. They all came out together in good time. Lovely food. We've been before and I'm sure we will go again. Price about right. Not cheap but not over-priced. You get what you pay for! Everyone left satisfied. Not a single complaint which can't be bad considering the varied meal choices.
Absolutely delicious food, taste out of this world!!! Roast pork belly was to die for with the red wine jus. I come here every year with my work friends and am never disappointed!!! Great service too, always with a smile!!
The Windmill retains a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The food is excellent and the varied menu is a credit to the chef. Friendly staff who seem to always have a smile for every customer
As always,a lovely warm welcome into a stunning pub and restaurant.Very attentive management and staff, award winning food and a beautiful location. We will be returning very soon.
Pleasant country pub atmosphere. Good real ale selection as well as usual larger. Food was good, not overpriced and well presented. Quick service and friendly staff. Odd car park. Barrels blocking entrance so parked elsewhere. Turns out there is a gap between the barrels that you're supposed to squeeze through to get into the parking area. Seems it's a local car park for local people with the knowledge. Quirky.
We parked out car here before our walk to Ashhurst beacon. Food at lunch time was really great, good choices. One had a real feast of lamb roast I had scampy , other guy had gammon / eggs. Beer price as is normal for the times we live in. Not rushed so we were relaxed after the walk.
